Em---hope you feel much better ASAP! That sucks!

To everyone else, I am signing off!!!! Hopefully I get some new pics I can send along. I am spending the afternoon once I get there with my Little Leah...who is not so little anymore she is 10  she was a foster child in my house when I was in high school, and she got adopted 10 minutes away from where we live. We are in close contact with her family. I can't wait to see her!!!!

Work was a zoo!!! More on that later. Bye Sillies and take care of Emily....send the Yeti to bring her more reading material for the loo...she may need em!

Poor confused kitty. My Lyle knows just how she feels

So if you don't hear from me as much. I will try to check in. Bye Guys!!!!

Oh, your next few days sound superb, Amanda! :)

And so nice that you've kept in touch with one of your foster kids.....I think your parents are amazing people to devote their lives to fostering children - - and SO great for you to have grown up in a wonderful, dynamic household like this!

Em---hope you feel much better ASAP! That sucks!

Take care of Emily....send the Yeti to bring her more reading material for the loo...she may need em!

 Actually, things have really calmed down....it was only the first couple of hours this morning, and I don't usually spend much time on the toilet....just walking around with my pants undone (quite something when I'm at work):rolleyes: and feeling those telltale needle-like stomach pains. It's all good now. Threw meself into a good run, and that does seem to help. Also keeps me from becoming a Princess Chunk, myself......

Well, I'm outta here for now. Gotta jump in the shower real quick. Luke has a pretty important doctor's appointment today, regarding the chronic constipation. He also has a weird mark/lesion/thing on his leg, that has been growing. I don't know what it is, but with my mom getting dxed with Sarc, it makes me nervous.

Will update yall on the appt later.

Won't be on much today, last minute getting ready and cooking some stuff for the freezer . . . tomorrow is my knee surgery. Now, come Saturday, I expect I will sit with my hubby's laptop on me belly and be available for chatting all day.

Gian-knit...so tomorrow's the day! You'll be in me thoughts and I hope all goes smoothly and uneventfully. :)

Look forward to chatting this weekend....Mark will be away Sat. and Sun. so I'll be around too :D

Sign for the day:

. . . tomorrow is my knee surgery.

Surgery

Form both hands into *A* hands..........remember those?....fists with the thumb along the side......and touch the tips of the thumbs. Pull the dominant hand away, like you are drawing (or cutting) the incision. This can be done at the location of the surgery, so Janet's would be done across her knee.

Good luck, Gian-knit!!!!

Heyyyyyy....I like this. I am going to make this sign at the large trucker man beside me whilst we wait at a red light. Y'know... ..just to see what happens.:rolleyes:

Oh, and, Weezee's been scootin' her arse on the carpet again. <_< Must go for the squeeze again, at the vet's. harrumphhhhhfffff

Hope Luke's appt is fruitful :)

Gian-knit's gni surgery already!! It'll go perfectly - see ya Saturday :)

How's Ptaum doing ??

Haven't even started the bulk of the new pills. Trying to gauge the one w/ a bit o' milk from the probiotic blend component. So far, only once felt like I might be getting the weird mental effect.

She (the ND) wanted me to test it for 3 days at first but then agreed to 5 - w/ refund if applicable.

I might extend it to a week to be more sure.

I won't expect anything to report until a week or so after starting the other pills, which include an adrenal formula. :)

Hehe seeing the question makes me think Knic hasn't seen me posting every day!! :o

Good to see Julie back in the mix .. ..now where's Bevvy? And .. ..Poetre? Maybe just working too much .... .

Janet! Be thinking of you tomorrow.....the best of luck to you (which you won't need)!

Sarah! You must be home from Luke's appointment....Tell! Tell! :)

Mygawd......just been going through a mental list of all the words that Lisa has given us in ALS, trying to come up with a sentence or situation where one could use a smattering of them together for practice.

So, here were the first, obvious ones:

Surgery, stuck, penis.

Don't know if I wanna pursue dat sentence.......

Yup, just got home. The appointment was... a smidge disappointing as far as the constipation problem goes. I updated her on what I've tried with the df diet, fiber supplements, etc. She already knew about the improvement he's had on the gluten-free diet.

Her thoughts right now are that his system is sluggish due to... wait for it... IBS. :( :( Whaaaaaatt? I'm one of those who believes IBS is a symptom, not a condition. :( Soo... today was the first time in nearly eight years of her being our family doc that I've disagreed with her. But I'm going with it for now, for two reasons.

A- She is taking the problem seriously, and we're going to try step-up doses of Miralax to get him moving again. This is my number 1 priority right now, because if we don't do something soon, he's going to get seriously impacted.

B- I found out that the GI docs at Brenner's won't even take a referral for an initial appt until we've tried the Miralax. (Brenner's Children's Hospital is where I would take him. They're an excellent facility, associated with Wake Forest, and they actually have a major pediatric Celiac center. Yup, all that less than hour from me. Too bad I didn't have insurance for the kids a few years ago. <_< )

She said that if the Miralax works well, he just needs to stay on it, on a maintenance dose. He may grow out of it, or he may need to stay on it for life. I'm not happy with that idea at all. But I'm taking it one day at a time for now.

She looked at the mark on his leg- checked out the pores with her scope thingy- and it's nummular eczema. Basically this is just a particular shape- circular, coin sized- of eczema. While we were looking at it, we found other, patchier areas of eczema on his hip. She thinks it's probably caused by stress from the bathroom issues.

Sigh... I just don't know.

*snort* true dat - she'd find it PHUN, I bet!

Janet! Surgery tomorrow - zoigs!!!!!!!!!! You'll be in my thoughts. :) Be sure and get some good drugs.

Surgery, stuck, penis.

   useful terms......come on Em, make a sentence!!!!!!!!!!!

sometimes I just completely chortle to selph when I think about all the naughty words and......bathroom humoUr we regularly use on here.  Anal glands, penis, scrotum (tho 'tis a kangaroo scrotum, I believe), pee, wee, poop, boobs, phecal, phart chart.....what'd I miss?

sarah..........ohhhh. :( I don't know what to think or say about this diagnosis. Miralax, forever? Wow. Somehow, I don't think that's the final answer......but SO glad you can get into that facility later. You guys are going through too much this past year. I'm starting to wonder if your house is poisoning you! (except, your hubby's healthy, isn't he?)

and BTW - I think others have learned that it's best not to disagree with......um.......well, certain person(s) on this forum.

Lord, I have to go to happy hour today. You see, that would be REALLY fun if I lived in a great city like, say........Seattle, Chicago, Denver, etc. But here??????????? You gotta take fun friends wif you because........the patrons ain't all the interesting. <_< (you'd have to live here forEVER to understand)

Why thank you, Tom :)

Good luck with all the new supps! Is the one with a bit o milk the probiotic? If you do have a problem with those they do make df ones. You are lucky she will give you a refund if you react, GOD I'd have thousands and thousands of buckaroos if I could return what I opened and reacted to after one or two doses :lol:

Surgery, stuck, penis.

I read that as "sugary", which I do believe would have a totally other meaning  :lol:

Another sentence to chase away any new silly prospects, and possibly warnings for all.......

Sorry about the disappointing appointment Sarah :( I do hope the Miralax will at least get things moving in the meantime, that is for sure the priority.

Julie--"buckaroos"

Sarah--I'm sorry the appt wasn't what you had hoped, but good news that the spot on his leg was "only" eczema and nothing more serious.

I had a gastro in NJ who used the term IBS <_< , but still acknowledged that there was a cause. Hopefully, the Miralax will <_< work while a real cause is looked into :)

wee

I miss the usage of wee, I'm going to bring it back, somehow, someway......

Have "phun" at happy hour Susie, if I were there I would go wif you.

would that then be an unhappy hour?:blink:

This article does not address migraines at all.  Yes, red wine and sulfites are often mentioned in connection with migraine triggers. With me, any kind of alcoholic beverage in very modest amounts will reliably produce a migraine. Nitrous oxide generators, which are vaso dialators, also will give me migraines reliably. So, I think most of my migraines are tied to fluctuations vascular tension and blood flow to the brain. That's why the sumatriptan works so well. It is a vaso constrictor.

Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.
    • Scott Adams
I agree that KAN-101 looks promising, and hope the fast track is approved. From our article below: "KAN-101 shows promise as an immune tolerance therapy aiming to retrain the immune system, potentially allowing safe gluten exposure in the future, but more clinical data is needed to confirm long-term effects."
    • Scott Adams
Thank you so much for having the courage to share this incredibly vivid and personal experience; it's a powerful reminder of how physical ailments can disrupt our fundamental sense of self. What you're describing sounds less like a purely psychological body dysmorphia and more like a distinct neurological event, likely triggered by the immense physical stress and inflammation that uncontrolled celiac disease can inflict on the entire body, including the nervous system. It makes complete sense that the specific sensory input—the pressure points of your elbows on your knees—created a temporary, distorted body map in your brain, and the fact that it ceased once you adopted a gluten-free diet is a crucial detail. Your intuition to document this is absolutely right; it's not "crazy" but rather a significant anecdotal data point that underscores the mysterious and far-reaching ways gluten can affect individuals. Your theory about sensory triggers from the feet for others is also a thoughtful insight, and sharing this story could indeed be validating for others who have had similar, unexplainable sensory disturbances, helping them feel less alone in their journey.
