Hippie

To see a hippie in your dream, represents excess and freedom of expression.

To dream that you are a hippie, suggests that you want to be different. You are rejecting societal norms and conventional values.

;) Ok then :D

Me thinks you and Terry should cook up a big feast tomorrow and celebrate it wif us, maybe it will catch on with yer countrymen!

I suppose we could  ...but it IS just a normal day........WHO makes it a holiday?? (Government?)

I shall have to get on to Gordon Brown toot sweet!!! (not sure exactly WHAT we can give thanks FOR?)

I shall tell Daniel (me eldest) NOT to go into work tomorrow.... to tell them he can't as he has to stay home for Thanksgiving

Patti is up to her yatta bay??:lol:

....must get a Turkey.......

GAAAAAHHH!!! TWENTY EMOTICONS!!!!! :o:o:lol::lol::D:D

I feel like an alcoholic who has just stumbled into a Legion Hall Party. . . . . ..

YIIIIPPEEEEE!!!!

Cooking up to me yatta-bay!

Patti!! What does this crazy thing mean??:lol:

Anyone going to answer that one?

I think Emily should . . . Sam was under her supervision . . . she let him get out. Of course there's no guarentee that she won't totally make something up!!!

Yep, I'm heading over there right now. . . . . . ...will tell the true story of Sam Hill Manhead. Everything.:lol:

Tis a good question.

Methinks that England doesn't have a Thanksgiving because the whole traditional meaning of the holiday (giving thanks for being discovered, the whole Plymouth Rock thang) just isn't relevant there. England is a squillion years old - - you guys weren't discovered....you and France and Spain did all the discovering!:lol:

You're just too old, youse guys!

...'tweren't a garbage can holder at all!!!! In a flash I'm fully ass-in, legs & arms out, of a recently used, otherwise empty keg tub, soaking in ice & icewater, w/ blood flowing from a forearm cut by the impact on a NOT sharp at all tub edge!!!!!

And I laughed. And bled. And stayed. Ahhhhh college

I LOVE this story!!!!!!!! Falling/injured/bleeding/laughing/staying

[our emoticons are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D but - um - since Scott just added them/notified us in me thread about their increase, do you think THAT led to the crash of the forum? ]

I guess, upon reflection, I meant to ask, "JUST as big?", as up here there is no comparison - - Thanksgiving fades into a small blip on the national screen when compared to Christmas. The States plays up Thanksgiving much more . . .....it seems so nice.. . .. . Families and food, thankfulness . . . ......

But we're happy....we get a three-day weekend. . . . . . . :

Well, it's a big event with big dinner prep - very hard on the women-folk, who do all the work, usually......BUT - it's also THE MOST HEINOUS retail blowout ever - - - the Friday after is called - Black Friday? and many stores open at - get this - 4 a.m., with mad sales, and people are actually out there, in hordes, doing their Christmas shopping...........

I have NEVER shopped on this egregious day - usually don't leave the house but to go to friends' - 'tis not safe...........

I had a dream last night that I joined a hippy commune.........

Bevel was me best mate there

We wore tye dye flowing skirts and plaited everybodies hair......... and we lived illegally (squatters!) in a Stately home

BEV??

Nik's a hippie wif Bevel (am just SOOOOO jealous I was not in on this also!) avoiding societal conventions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love this

Cooking up to me yatta-bay! Be back later

*snort* must look up the origin of this expression - love it

JESS!!!!!!!!! oh YES! Ptaum and Weezee and I will be there soon......we'll eat yer bacon-wrapped turkey, abduct you, throw you in the back of the smelly Amish Jeep and all head on over to Julie's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P Then, I don't see why we can't just keep on driving and head to see our Canadian friends, and DEMAND that they host a Thanksgiving dinner for us, wif all the trimmings............. Peter and Jacquie, we'll all be gathering at Em's hot tub on Friday, get ready!

I think Emily should . . . Sam was under her supervision . . . she let him get out. Of course there's no guarentee that she won't totally make something up!!!

what? Our M, make sumfin up???????????????

really sillies, what ARE we going to do?

you know - we could use this as a big recruitment effort.......all of us post over there and - then just barrage those posters with high-pressure sales-type pm's to come join us.........with promises of Burundian exotic-ness, parades, yetis, trips all over the world for phree, tiny Twa, delicious g f desserts and UK Thanksgiving feasts, absinthe, hot tubs, blah blah blah....

Tis a good question. Me thinks you and Terry should cook up a big feast tomorrow and celebrate it wif us, maybe it will catch on with yer countrymen!

afternoon sillies!

Tis a busy but quiet morning at work. We are an office of 6 today instead of 20. Nice calm place to be. We visited my one coworker who had a hysterectomy yesterday. She was 38. She was happy to have it, she has been having problems during her period since she was young and this would solve them all.

I only work till 2:30. Jen and I are going to see the new house, she has not been there yet. I have to come back and pick up John at work at 4:30.

We are meeting with Josh right after work to sign some more house papers. Landen is coming over @ 6. Jen is working tonight. John, Landen and I are going to Wegmans to finish Thanksgiving shopping. Landen will go to bed @ 8:30 and then I will finish packing for my moms. Tomorrow we will leave to go to Jen's house at 7:30, she is going to get in our car and we are all heading to Thanksgiving dinner for 12 noon @ my moms. Busy busy in our house.

Then on Friday we will all work again and then John and I are leaving early Saturday morning to go to NJ to a funeral. John's cousin passed away yesterday. He was 50. He was a genius and in his 20's he developed schizophrenia...can't spell sorry! He was a diabetic and his "voices" always told him not to takes his meds...so he ended up with renal failure and has been on dialysis for years.

So his mom is John's moms sister and they were all coming to John's moms for Thanksgiving this year. Well on Friday night, last week John's mom called and said they were heading to NJ in the morning to see Julian. He hadnt had his dislysis in a month...he didnt think he needed it anymore.....which of course was not true. He was losing lots of weight, turning gray and was in plain bad shape. So they didnt know how much time he had left....I honestly could not believe he had made it this long....

Well last night he didnt make it...

So my day yesterday....my coworker became a grammy, I got my house, then my coworker had the hyster. surgery, and then Julian passed away....lots of significant changes in a short period of time, almost every aspect was covered.....

I am doing a gluten challenge right now and I bought vital wheat gluten so I can know exactly how much gluten I am getting. One tablespoon is 7g so 1½ tablespoons of Vital Wheat Gluten per day will get you to 10g You could add it to bean burgers as a binder or add to hot chocolate or apple sauce and stir.

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.
