'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the Silly house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a little person under the stairs

The fuzzy shag toilet seat covers were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that the Boiler Man with heat, or at least a ballcock, soon would be there;

The chillens were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of kiddo balls danced in their heads;

And Nikki on her settee with her Tiger Pig blankie,

Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,

When out in the Ho Tub arose such a clatter,

She sprang from the divan to see what was the matter.

Away to the window she flew as fast as the yeti,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snaux

Gave the lustre of mid-day to the crutch tip that had landed in the Ho Tub below, (how did that get in there?)

Then, what to her wondering eyes should appear,

But Susie's Jeep, and 17 FABULUSH Sillies,

With a little old driver, so phunny and parking mad,

She knew in a moment that natch, it must be Ptaughauaghm.

More rapid than llamas his Silly phriends they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, Patti! Now Emily!, Now Amanda! Now Laura! Now Julie! Now, Bev and Susie!

On, Lisa (x 2)! On Janet! On Jacquie! On Peter! On Bunnie! On Theresa! On, Jess and Judy!

Amanda - is John going to the funeral? Even he doesn't really have to go but it would be nice.....but you? oh my gosh - I would say OF COURSE you don't have to go! Spend the time with your mom! I have two aunts, my ONLY two - one three hours away and one in Minnesota - and I have to say, I don't plan on going to either of their funerals....... <_< And I would not invite either to my wedding, if I had one, as I hardly know them.

I say, by all means, spend with with yer mum! :)

Oh, I see Jules has been hard at work on a long winter's poem :lol: :lol:

Will get to it - -

Excellent poem!

'Manda, the living always come before the dead.

Made it in to work.

Buses are strewn all about. Hills closed.

The shuttle isn't running so the hospital sent Public safety in her 4WD jeep thing. I road up the hill with a 200 lb guy on my lap (4 of us in the back seat :o )

It is beautiful out though :)

And snow doesn't stop the boat, so no matter what, I can get home, even it requires hoofing it on the other side.

. Would it be terribly wrong of me to not go to the funeral Saturday????

no......WITH THE WEATHER AND YOUR MOM...........I vote for seeing Mom. You only have one and she's here with you now. Don't waste time with someone you don't know. Know you want to keep John company but.....since your spending holidays with Johns' family.....i think you said........I vote to spent time with your Mom and your Dad just getting home after his ordeal..........my 2 cents.

Jules........loved the song and the time it took to do it.

Amanda - -it is unanimous! See your mom. John will be there for his Uncle's family. :)

Hmmmmm .. .. Soooozie's got a Holy Meeting. The details will be fascinating for me to hear. Sooooze, we pondered early on in this thread whether or not Jesus was in fact celiac. . . . ..I suggest positing this as an introductory question. Should get the ball rolling - - ask if there is specific scripture that mentions him feeling bloated, tired or crampy during the Last Supper, and the whole immense irony that could exist in the "bread is the staff of life" thing. . . . . . ...

I just KNOW this will be a subject that will have them talking.

Um. . .. or perhaps not. Maybe they would sit, silent and staring. . . . . .....

:lol::lol:

Don't crash your Windows today. Oh, wait, the help desk is in India anyway.

Never mind.

:lol: Gad, the way things are happening enviornmentally, it could be snowing there, too. . . . . . ....

Emily, Lisa ....wonderful lyrics! I knew you had it in you. Someone mentioned "Night Before Christmas" a while back. Should we give it a go? I'll have to let that brew a while. 'Till later...

Jooooolieee! Terrific poetry. . .. . . so well done! I remember us throwing these lyrics around last year at this time, and Patti just knocked us dead with a stanza about all of us getting glutened:

"Now Sooozie! Now Em! Now Janet and Julie! Now Patti and POeter and Tom and Nikki!

To the toilet you run, to that loo down the hall,

Now dash away, dash away, dash away ALL!" :lol::lol:

A paraphrase.. . . Patti said it so much better.....just TOO PHUNNY. . . .. .

I sillied up the Twas the Night Before Christmas poem so quickly. It didn't really rhyme :lol:

Ok, I revised a little. Pheel phree to edit/add/ or make up your own.

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the Silly HIZZ-OUSE!!!!

Not a creature was stirring, not even a Twa or the little people under the stairs

The fuzzy shag toilet seat covers were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that the Boiler Man with heat, or at least a ballcock, soon would be there;

The chillens were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of kiddo balls and projectile-free gluten-free baked goods danced in their heads;

And Nikki on her settee with her Tiger Pig blankie,

Had just settled down to nurse her massive hangover,

When out in the Ho Tub arose such a clatter,

She sprang from the divan to see what was the matter.

Away to the window she flew as fast as the yeti,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snaux

Gave the lustre of mid-day to nekkid Bev smeared in chocolate holding the crutch tip that had landed in the Ho Tub below, (how ever did they get in there????? :huh: )

Then, what to her wondering eyes should appear,

But Susie's Jeep that stinketh, SAM HILL MAN HEAD and the rest of her FABULUSH Silly phriends,

With a little old driver, so parking mad,

She knew in a moment that natch, it must be Ptaughauaghm.

More rapid than llamas the wackl Sillies they came,

And he cackled, and snorted, and called them by name;

"Now, Patti! Now Emily!, Now Amanda! Now Laura! Now Julie! Now, Bev and Susie!

On, Lisa (x 2)! On Janet! On Jacquie! On Peter! On Bunnie! On Theresa! On, Jess and Judy!

Amanda, I agree with the others. John can be there to represent the two of you and you should go see your mom before the bad weather comes in.

Susie, enjoy your lunch with the pastors. Just be yourself and they will love you like the rest of us do :)

Kids singing . . . snort . . . had the Christmas program at the preschool today. Nothing like the 2 1/2 year old front-n-center sticking her hands down her pants . . . then me trying to whisper so that it's not picked up by the bajillion camcorders "Caroline, get your hands out of your pants" . . . so she takes them out of the front of her pants and then puts them down the back of her pants . . . so I let that one go - not quite so obvious that way.

      Thank you! That's helpful. My kids eat very little processed food. Tons of fruit, vegetables, cheese, eggs and occasional red meat. We do a lot of rice and bean bowls, stir fry, etc.  Do you think with all the fruits and vegetables they need a vitamin supplement? I feel like their diet is pretty healthy and balanced with very limited processed food. The only processed food they eat regularly is a bowl of Cheerios here and there.  Could shaking legs be a symptom of just a one-time gluten exposure? I guess there's no way to know for sure if they're getting absolutely zero exposure because they do go to school a couple times a week. We do homeschool but my son does a shared school 2x a week and my daughter does a morning Pre-K 3 x a week.  At home our entire house is strictly gluten free and it is extremely rare for us to eat out. If we eat at someone else's house I usually just bring their food. When we have play dates we bring all the snacks, etc. I try to be really careful since they're still growing. They also, of course, catch kids viruses all the time so I  want to make sure I know whether they're just sick or they've had gluten. It can be pretty confusing when they're pretty young to even be explaining their symptoms!

      @lizzie42, You're being a good mom, seeking answers for your son.  Cheers! Subclinical thiamine deficiency commonly occurs with anemia.  An outright Thiamine deficiency can be precipitated by the consumption of a high carbohydrate meal.   Symptoms of Thiamine deficiency include feeling shakey or wobbly in the legs, muscle weakness or cramps, as well as aggression and irritability, confusion, mood swings and behavior changes.  Thiamine is essential to the production of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine which keep us calm and rational.   @Jsingh, histamine intolerance is also a symptom of Thiamine deficiency.  Thiamine is needed to prevent mast cells from releasing histamine at the slightest provocation as is seen in histamine intolerance.  Thiamine and the other B vitamins and Vitamin C are needed to clear histamine from the body.  Without sufficient thiamine and other B vitamins to clear it, the histamine builds up.  High histamine levels can change behavior, too.  High histamine levels are found in the brains of patients with schizophrenia.  Thiamine deficiency can also cause extreme hunger or conversely anorexia.   High carbohydrate meals can precipitate thiamine deficiency because additional thiamine is required to process carbohydrates for the body to use as fuel.  The more carbohydrates one eats daily, the more one needs additional thiamine above the RDA.  Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses. Keep in mind that gluten-free processed foods like cookies and such are not required to be fortified and enriched with vitamins and minerals like their gluten containing counterparts are.  Limit processed gluten-free foods.  They are often full of empty calories and unhealthy saturated fats and additives, and are high in histamine or histamine release triggers.  It's time you bought your own vitamins to supplement what is not being absorbed due to malabsorption of Celiac disease.  Benfotiamine is a form of Thiamine that has been shown to improve intestinal health as well as brain function. Do talk to your doctors and dieticians about supplementing with the essential vitamins and minerals while your children are growing up gluten free.  Serve nutritionally dense foods.  Meats and liver are great sources of B vitamins and minerals. Hope this helps!  Keep us posted on your progress!

      Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
    • knitty kitty
      @SamAlvi, It's common with anemia to have a lower tTg IgA antibodies than DGP IgG ones, but your high DGP IgG scores still point to Celiac disease.   Since a gluten challenge would pose further health damage, you may want to ask for a DNA test to see if you have any of the commonly known genes for Celiac disease.  Though having the genes for Celiac is not diagnostic in and of itself, taken with the antibody tests, the anemia and your reaction to gluten, it may be a confirmation you have Celiac disease.   Do discuss Gastrointestinal Beriberi with your doctors.  In Celiac disease, Gastrointestinal Beriberi is frequently overlooked by doctors.  The digestive system can be affected by localized Thiamine deficiency which causes symptoms consistent with yours.  Correction of nutritional deficiencies quickly is beneficial.  Benfotiamine, a form of thiamine, helps improve intestinal health.  All eight B vitamins, including Thiamine (Benfotiamine), should be supplemented because they all work together.   The B vitamins are needed in addition to iron to correct anemia.   Hope this helps!  Keep us posted on your progress!
