Suze, I only had two, that guy, and a woman from New Zealand, 'cause really, who wants to come to BI?

After I hadn't logged in for a year they suspended my account.

While I was in Europe I met a crazy Japanese guy that was riding a bike around the world, doing magic tricks to get money for food, and sleeping on couches most of the time. If he couldn't get a couch, he slept in parks or fields.

Sillies- I need some advice....something happened yesterday...actually quite a few bad thing but here is the overall one...

I brought home this huge roll of bubble paper from work- bigger than me, two of us lugged into the house. John then left to run to the store for gas in the car so we wouldn't have to go out of our way in the morning. So I was on the phone with my mom and I was standing leaning on our counter and I noticed our sofa had been moved...now we have this sectional so it was just the one end. The odd thing was I know John and I didn't do it..John is really strange about things being straight and nice....So as I looked closer- the coffee table had been moved (you could tell by the imprints in the carpet....) My lighthouse end table was moved and so were the decorations around it and they were sitting next to the coffee table. So I felt a little strange and I quickly hung up the phone with my mom and called John.... He came right home. IN the meantime I called the rental office, and the manager answered. When I asked if they had been in the apartment they said yes. But they went there by accident. The manager said the staff went in the front door and right back out. This is not possible- since we are 2nd floor so you come in the front door downstairs and then come up the stairs to the living area. When I said the furniture was moved around- he seemed surprised but not concerned. So I said well even if you came in by accident you sjhould have left a note. He said well I asked them if they left a note but they said no so I was expecting your call....Now I am thinking a good manager would have got to me before I had to call them....but nothing. So I hung up and I just felt so invaded.

John got home and we realized more furniture had been moved. SO he called the office but he was gone for the day.

I feel like my privacy was invaded....so now what?

Then we call John's dad to wish him a happy birthday and we find out he lost his job that day...he was with a company for over 25 years. Now his dad made a good point- John's check books had been on the counter- so who knows if they took info. My house is in such an uproar right now due to the moving this week that is hard to tell if anything is missing....

So our plan is if we dont hear from the rental office we are claling the cops....what do you think???

are you and John home or at work today

you might have said

with the issue of the check book and apt in a mess for the move things could be missing you don't know about

My first reaction would be to call the police so it's on record and since the apt man has gotten back to you and expected your call.........he should know who was in your apt there for if things are gone and the police have been notified......if things were stolen they might not try to use them as they know it was reported.....and your going to be out of there soon.

just my 2 cents.

CarlaB Enthusiast

I agree. Document who you talked to and at what time at the office ... what they said. I'd hand them a copy and have them sign that they received it. Make them know you're serious.

It is probably something "innocent" like checking to see if the carpets need cleaned .... but still they should have told you.

Call the cops, Amanda. . . .... . even though you won't have to worry about this landlord for much longer, his less-than-professional behavior should be acknowledged, I think, to the authorities. . . . ......

Alright, I'm having a crappy morning.

I'll put in my 2 cents.....they're right. Call the cops so you at least have a complaint on record. It's good that you won't be there much longer....you wouldn't feel safe in your own home anymore. It IS a personal violation.....and it's wrong of them to be there (on accident? come on..) and to not inform you. They would not have had any reason that I can see for moving anything around! I'd be madder n heck ifn it was me

My studies.....I'm taking an on-line medical transcription course. At this point I'm learning the programs with Microsoft Office....which is way cool. Even the word program has changed so much...so many options toys to play with. I've always had very physical jobs....and I just can't do that anymore. I think this is a good field to get into, and I can always extend my studies to medical coding. My goal is to work from home at some point.

Yes, the picture is my backyard. I love the deer....except when they eat my plants. I have a beautiful, (at least it WAS beautiful) Camelia. The deer love it. I got them to leave it alone long enough for all of the leaves to grow back...but it's now completely bald again!!!! We have also had visits from turkeys, quail and a bear (last march). Wonder if he'll be back this spring!

As soon as weather is warm y'all are invited to sit on the deck, sip iced tea (or what have you) and watch the birdies (and of course, get psilly!)

Amanda, call the cops! You won't have to worry about this landlord much longer, but it should go on public record that he has acted so unprofessionally... . . ..

Ta-reeeesah, have you spotted any nekkid Polish men out there? Whatever you do, DO NOT sign up at Couchsurfers - - you'll be looking out your window at your gorgeous landscape, waiting for deer, quail and bears, and there he'll suddenly be. . . . . . ..

Company is gone. Really enjoyed them. I was hoping for a kwiet afternoon....buuuuuttt noooo...oo.they've been building in the neighborhood all summer....but at the far end. NOW they are digging up the ground and blasing the rocks, and of course not only dynamite but a hydraulic hammer, two lots down. At first I thought the noise was in my front yard. Yeow what a noise :o:blink: At least it's not warm weather when I want to be outside. (I didn't even know it was a vacant lot there, thought it belonged to my neighbor <>

Unfortunately I don't think there is much you can do about this. I do some contract work with a few apartment complexes and this is pretty standard practice. It's likely in your lease agreement somewhere that they can enter your apartment at any time for any reason with or without notice. Most complexes are very good about notifying residents ahead of time but don't always when unscheduled maintenace is necessary. If something is missing you can file a police report but the apartment technically owns the apartment so you'll be dealing with your insurance company. The law is on their side. It is one of the downsides of renting.

Regardless of whether or not you choose to notify police or give the apartment people a hard time, John should go as early tomorrow as possible and close those bank accounts, and get new bank account numbers. If he explains to the bank what happened they should be more than helpful.

True . . . but unscheduled maintenance like your furniture needed to be moved??? . . . doesn't hurt to talk to the police and they most likely will tell you that there is nothing they can do unless something comes up missing. But the whole situation is suspicious . . . why on earth would they move your furniture???

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind
