SILLIES!!!!!!

not caught up but - an announcement -

there is a wee kitteh here, a beautiful grEy tabbey, about 3 months - Lauren found him and brought him by, she is at the store now buying supplies....but - - I don't know what to do!!!!!!!

:(

The kitten just beat up Annie, Annie is terrified, and it's her OWN house, so that worries me. This cat is very mellow and very adorable but....Annie is whining like crazy and taking quite a wide berth around this cat....

the SINGLE PURPOSE of having a cat is for Weezee!! So THEY can be companions!

I just don't know what to do......either send it home w/ Lauren tonight (she'll find another home) or.....wait a bit.......AGH!!!!!!

I wanted a TINY TINY kitteh for Weez - a six- or eight-week old........

GAH! help!!!!!!!!!

Cats are territorial, and bond with their space more that anything. The kitten is in a new place, with unfamiliar companions, including a dog. Dogs may be something new altogether. It will take some time for things to settle out.

If you can, place kitty in a room by herself, where you can close the door to keep her safe (as perceived by the kitten). If it is a space where the dog's scent is present, then she can learn to adapt to it. Both critters will come to the door and sniff and become aware of each other, and in due course the door can be opened and things will work out.

This also works when introducing a new cat to a home with existing cats. Been there.

Susie, are you there? :o

I see Soozie :D She's here.

I've also heard that what Peter said about the kitty and the closed door works. This way, the kitten and Weez can get used to each other slowly. I've seen this work firsthand with cats--my sister has introduced 2 new ones and my son has 4--all brought home at different times.

It can be done, I'm sure of it :)

Hi Suesszy! Sometimes when you are looking for something....that something finds you. I'm hoping this works out to be just what you needed/wanted. And yes, sometimes it takes time and patience, until you suddenly realize you wouldn't trade it for anything :) Good luck, whatever you decide. It's sure to be an adjustment for everyone involved.

Not much psillyness to add tonight. I should be sleeping.....been waiting all day until I could sleep...but am I sleeping now? Nooooo. Had a crappy day <:whineysnivelyface:>

:( Sawwy you so sick Bevy :( . My Telehubby had a nasty bout with a cold that turned into Sinus infection that was spreading to his throat and chest. Hope you get well without complications!

Wondering how Tawwwm is doing? Hey! Tawwwwm, how're you doing? Hopefully getting through it all without difficulty, and little memory of the whole process :)

thanks Poeter, all excellent advice....I just haven't mixed cats/dogs in so long (since early childhood, when my parents did it) that....I dunno what I'm doing and.....slight panic!

Susie, are you there?

Here now.....

things are calmer.........the kitteh is SO cute  He fell asleep, purring on my lap....

I am concerned at how agitated the Weez can become - - but things will hopefully calm down.

Also, the kitteh has a very WIDE belly (side-to-side) and - may have worms er' sumfin.....but I think they all do? He's very quiet and calm....may be slightly unwell. Goign to the vet tomorrow for mild treatments......

It can be done, I'm sure of it :)

:) Thanks, Padt!

HI JUDY!!!!!!!!!

Amanda - I'm sorry about your apt. situation! JanetW seemed to have much knowledge of it, unfortunate as it sounds. (HI JANET!)

Forgot what else, going to go back in there and see what's going on.

The wee kitteh got Annie in the face :( in a savage attack earlier.........all is eerily quiet in there now as they sleep near each other in living room..........

That was a predictable assertive move by the kitten in the presence of a much larger, unfamiliar, and possibly threatening (to kitty) animal. It is probably a one-time event. Boundaries are being established.

It will work out.

:( I hope so......I can't stand for the Weez to be traumatized in her own home, why does that break my heart so much? <I am a freak>

and.....I am worrying over so many things. More (unwanted) responsibility in a time when I think I can't handle or afford it. and, how will I travel (not that I go often) and, take Weezee and leave the cat? Leave them both? will the cat tear up my house? Will there always be tension between the cat and dog? Why is this cat's belly so fat? What is I fall in love with him and he has a major health problem?

WHY AM I ADDING MORE COMPLICATION TO MY SILLY LITTLE LIFE?????????

so much worry - - makes me want to just keep it simple and have only ONE animal, my beloved (and VERY easy) Annie!

Susie . . . yer kitteh is adorable . . .

I always tell people that the most stressful time in my life was when we had a dog (who was fairly aggressive) and added a second . . . NOT my wedding, NOT my move to another state, NOT changing jobs :o:huh::P:lol: . For us, it took about 3 weeks, several scuffles and one major battles (to determine who was top dog) and then we were fine. I think it would have taken less time if hubby and I had stayed out of it cuz we keep trying to run interference.

tom . . . fingers crossed that they find you some answers

bev . . . feel better soon . . . you can always buy yerself a new nose if you can't find yer old one.

I think if we had used this method we would have been able to keep our Maine Coon kitten 2 years ago- instead we allowed them to "get to know each other and Lucky would have none of it. We were afraid he was going to hurt the kitten even though he never made attempts. Def. give it a try :)

I don't think there will ever be another cat in our home, Lucky seems to be a 1-cat family. I would love for him to have a friend, I think that would sometimes help his never-ending need for attention. John and I spoil that cat...I am curious of how he will react to the new house.

Yep- 2 more days!!!!!

Morning Sillies-

Very Very Very COLD today...it was 18 on my way into work......More later

PS-thanks for all your help yesterday!

Morning, gang!

New KITTEH, Soooooooze! :)

 But.....

Concern over the blending of animal domains... . .. . .

Yep, done it many times in the last ten years, with two dogs and two cats, all of whom came into the home with animals already ruling the roost. Can't remember my strategy, quite possibly because I didn't have one. . . .. ...knowing me, I just figured that each one was smart enough to establish the pecking order quickly and not let things get out of hand or they'd be gone.

I think Annie will absolutely come around. :)

Guys--I know this is terrible, but I hate training people...its not for me. This person is super nice but all my work is sitting now and I am taking some time off to move...I just got 3 new patients in the last 2 days and I am overwhelmed. Thankfully- I only train one more day but now I know I would not make a good teacher!

Soooz! Iyam in luv wif your Kit-tay! Just beautiful! I'm jealous of the new babies and am living vicariously thru all of you.....and is causing lots of happy-furry-heartmelty memories for me. Until a couple of years ago I ALWAYS had cats and dogs. I was lucky that they all loved each other...ate and slept together, kept each other company. My Ivan took on the role of caretaker of them all. He bathed the babies, cleaned the dogs ears, taught the younger kittehs to climb trees and how to get on the roof. I remember when I had a female dropped off and then had babies. Ivan got them up on the garage roof and then left them there......I think he desperately needed a break from babysitting! He DID get them down after a while. He was a better mom than the mother was :D

Hope everyone is pheelin' fine and dandy and healthy and giggly today!

Kitteh Kraziness here  Just haven't had a kitten in SOOOOO long, can't even remember!!!

Now, pOeter, what is the best feeding situation? He is eating soft, good canned and moist packet food now, no dry.....what is the best thing, that's still affordable? Obviously I'll keep him gluten-free ;)

Weez just has a panicked whine quite often - - she is terrified of being attacked again, and quite jumpy and disturbed, but wants to sniff and be friends and be hear him, but whines like crazy.......gawd.....exhausting  How long will THAT go on?

sorry I am so self-absorbed  Honestly I am not sure I"m ready for this......house could get clawed up and ruined, animal chaos, vet bills :( My job isn't paying me any significant money at this point, we have to wait for grants to come in, mid- to late spring......

must look up Nik's curious word - does it mean Tabby Lover?

Yeah, that sounds super familiar. When inflammation levels are high — especially at the start of changing your diet — the body often develops a fructose and lactose intolerance. Unfortunately, the only thing that really helps is cutting out anything that isn’t lactose-free or that contains sugar. So basically, stick to meat, veggies, fish…
    • RMJ
I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.
    • Colleen H
Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you
    • sleuth
Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.
    • Scott Adams
Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.
