Hi Bev

Angus and Sadie sitting in a tree, K - I - S - S - I - N - G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thinking of your Dad and Sis, Em

Laura, I looked for E but I didn't spot him

Lucky him to be in the middle of it all!! Although I don't know, I kind of liked watching it in the comfort and warmth of me own home, no crowds, no frigid cold.

I so agree about the pressure and expectations he will be under. It's a stressful job as it is, look at how much Clinton and Bush aged, it was like an accelerated aging process for both of them.

There is no other country on this earth I'd rather be than right here! I'm blessed to have been born here. We are among the very richest people of the earth, and often take our freedoms, health and safety for granted. We should all be proud.

swear to God, at this point, if I were he, I would go and curl up in a corner from the PRESSURE and the expectations....:lol:

Which is why, perhaps, you should NOT run for President of the United States. I'm thankful that somebody wants to do it . . . have I mentioned lately how I dislike being in charge??

I've got two BIL's that went. Here's the report as given by my FIL:

BIL and his girlfriend are downtown on the DC Mall this morning preparing to participate in the Inauguration of Barack Obama. They came in by bus last night/this morning and got into the DC area about 5:00am. They found a way to bypass the worst Metro Station congestion and got downtown by about 8:00am. Now they are walking from Chinatown (9th and G St.) to 24th St. by the Lincoln Memorial and around to the south side of the Mall to watch the swearing-in ceremony. They report that it is all good. They are well fed. All of the stores and restaurants along the periphery of the Mall are open and serving and there are 7,000 port-potties along the Mall.

Bev - hows come you got Sadie again . . . Just a visit, or did sumptin' happen??

My news . . . I gobba code . . . I'm aw stuffy . . . I'll try not to breave on you.

Em, hope yer family's doing well.

Thanks, you guys. :wub::wub:

Well, my dad had the same laproscopic surgery this aft that my sister had two days ago.......but they found a big stone in his bladder, which they proceeded to annihilate with a laser. Went further up, and saw a BUNCH of stones high up in one kidney. This may require major surgery, so I don't know if they will do this on a frail, 84-year old man. :(

We'll know more tomorrow.

Even post-op, lying there morphined up, he still had me larfin' . .. . .. . .. .

Shaggy lobster legs

Lobster pie?!?!?! Is it like a pot pie with lobster, summat like that?? Sounds good, I'll be there....can't stink anymore than salmon

Meant to say earlier I love how Sooze says her "sils":lol:

So Sils, um, very stressed over ebay at the moment.....there is a technical problem with the shipping calculator, my items are showing up with $30 shipping on each thing so it's driving the bidders away. I contacted eBay and they won't do anything about it. This is going to totally affect the outcome of my auctions :(:(:(

Can't you add a note to your description explaining the computer glitch?

I did, but I am affraid they aren't even clicking on the item to look inside at the description when they see what the shipping is.

I would take the shipping completely off but can't now as each item has one bid already, and you can't revise once you have a bid.

I hope you don't have a lot of stuff. :(

Em, saying prayers for your dad. Somehow it always seems harder when it's your parents! Good that he's keeping his sense of humor. Hope all turns out well.

Lobshter! One of the things I miss about upstate NY is that we used to go to Maine once in a while in the summer. There is nothing like fresh l.o.b.s.h.t.e.r.!!!! I once went out on a boat with a lobsterman and got a "tour" of how they catch them and lots of info. about them. Pretty kool. (Were they screaming while hanging onto the little fuffy legs??)

NCGS does not cause damage to the small bowel villi so, if indeed you were not skimping on gluten when you had the antibody blood testing done, it is likely you have celiac disease.
    • Scott Adams
I will assume you did the gluten challenge properly and were eating a lot of gluten daily for 6-8 weeks before your test, but if not, that could be the issue. You can still have celiac disease with negative blood test results, although it's not as common:  Clinical and genetic profile of patients with seronegative coeliac disease: the natural history and response to gluten-free diet: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5606118/  Seronegative Celiac Disease - A Challenging Case: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9441776/  Enteropathies with villous atrophy but negative coeliac serology in adults: current issues: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34764141/  Approximately 10x more people have non-celiac gluten sensitivity than have celiac disease, but there isn’t yet a test for NCGS. If your symptoms go away on a gluten-free diet it would likely signal NCGS.

I'm very confused... My blood test came out negative, I checked all antibodies. I suppose my Total IgA levels are normal (132 mg/dl), so the test should be reliable. Still, I'm not relieved as I can't tolerate even a single biscuit. I need to talk to my doctor about whether a duodenal biopsy is necessary. But it is really possible to have intestinal damage despite having a seronegative results? I have really strong symptoms, and I don't want to keep skipping university lectures or being bedridden at home.
    • Scott Adams
They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.
    • Scott Adams
In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?
