I think we should ALL gather in a pub today in a cold, snowy city wif a big, blazing fire......absinthe and cinnamon bread all around......a big limo w/ tiger pigs to drive us to a chalet wif crutch-tip infused ho'tubs

We so need to do this, sounds like a date. A silly date!!

So glad you had such a good time on Sat ;) And yes, go into Ulta, even though it's risky for ya, you must try the Brocato line. I am forever thankful to Patti for recommending it.

Emily, I do believe I've seen all kinds of lines for thinner hair, Volumizing is what the word for it is. The act of...... voluming I suppose?:lol: I don't know what I am talking about, it's late. I'm giddy, but yes check out the drug store for some affordable options and look for that "V" word.

Thank gawd my kids don't play soccer or I would suspect you might be talking about ME!!!

 Janet, this made me snort and guffaw!!!!!

Julie....glad you had a nice weekend getaway

eating out does get easier but it's never easy

Thanks Judy Jude  How you doing/feeling??

So, this one time, when I was about 16, a squirrel killed itself on our power lines and took out the whole neighborhood. My 13 yr old neighbor, who was a great friend, decided to ask his mum if we could eat it. So she told him to chop it's head off and clean out its guts, which he did, and we proceeded to have Sparky Stew. Tastes like chicken. (They're from Arkansas, whaddaya want?)

Bunnie!!!!! My lord, now you made my crockpot image a reality

. . . . ...what exactly does the quintessential Soccer Mom look like? A short-haired van-driver, by the sounds of things. . . .. ....

Double snort!

Double guffaw!

Um, aren't squirrels just rats with bushy tails? B)

Xactly Peter.

My niece sings the cutest song about squirrels...

"squirrel, squirrel, shake your bushy tail" :D

Niikerler- If you find 'em buy me one too- I'll pay you back. I am SO glad that Tel doesn't have shingles- my dad had them last winter and they were SO painful!

Hey Bevel!! You gots snaugh?!?! I bet it is purty :)

Speaking of your dad, how is he doing? How is the kitteh Angus 2??

They thought gluten was in milk?? Crazy, but I believe it.

Even had one manager tell me...."Oh, my husband had that but he got over it!".....after they poisoned me. (This was in an Outback that has a gluten-free menu). "Oh...you can't have potatoes..right?" I love the way they set the bread directly in front of you after you tell them you can't have it...and the croutons on the salads.....We do NOT go out to anyplace anymore...have not in about a year...I'm too paranoid

These comments are ones for the book Theresa :shaking head:

Speaking of rashes and pain....when DD got tested for Lupus, it did come back positive for the skin version. DD was given topical cream and an oral prescription of some kind. The pills seem to help, but she still occassionally gets a HORRIBLE itch that is so bad it brings her to sobbing tears............and it is not where there is a rash........nothing. Now the derm thinks maybe it's not lupus. Jeez..........the first diagnosis before that was scabies..........WRONG  ....so it's a vicious cycle of misdiagnoses!

Lisa, so your daughter was tested already for the Lupus? I am interested in knowing how they test and what the names of the tests are, if you happen to know.

Where be Tom???????????????????????????????????????

It's good that they get to learn drunken driving skills before developing any silly habits like, watching the road, or, keeping both hands on the wheel. They'll be so much more skilled.

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!

.... still lafffffing... lafffing... needed that :P

Ju-lee...I sympathize with the restaraunt thing. Around here, when we were attempting to still eat out, I've gotten some really strange comments.

I know, right!! They plop the evil thing in front of your face.. you're sittin' there like.. ummm.. kryptonite.. please remove.. dying.. keeling over... heeeeeeeellllppppp.. Or maybe that is just me and my weird imagination.. But I'm fairly certain just looking at the big 'ol bread bun is going to kill my shhhooper powers :D

Oops.. everything but the celiac disease... Ummmmmmm... we're talking about the malicious effects of buns of kryptonite.. what's gluten? who's Celiac? Pssshhhhh, I know nothing....

Children will do that to you. Ask the moms here how many times they hid in the car when their kids were young. :P

I'm sure my dad did!

Speaking of which......Jules asked about me dad and Angus 2 the kitteh. dad is doing well- taking him to NY next time I have to go and he is over the moon! I love that guy  79 years old and still ready to pah-tay! As far as he and the wee kitteh- it's LOVE! She is back to Hazel though- took her to the vet and it turns out she was a cat up for adoption there first so they all came out looking for Hazel and petting her..........she became Hazel again toot suite! My dad's place (retirement community- story for another day!) has huge windows in the living room and hazel sits on the couch and bats at the snowflakes

how about this, my boss has poison oak in his weenis area and eveyrwhere else, too

he's a scritch-scratchin

Yikes- no phun for him- but you should keep count of scritching and scratching for blackmail at a later date!

Pt Deux momentarily..........

Mtndog Collaborator

Part Deux (I love when susie says that):

Good news- thyroid med upped and restarted antibiotic- energy slowly returning (note: slowly being keyword) but made three pairs of earrings and a necklace today. I'll take it! :D

But, am heart-broken. got a phone call today from our friend Mary. She is Kurt's second cousin twenty times removed but a friend. We love her- she's a hoot. She's in her fifties but has the attitude of a twenty five year old-pierced nose, massage therapist and all-around angel. She fought breast cancer last year and it came back and spread to her liver. On Friday she is having 80% of her liver removed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How crazy is that? And then intense chemo with 20% of a liver. Ugh.

This is the second blow in 2 months for us as one of my closest friends from childhood is going through chemo for fallopian cancer that spread to her ovaries (ovarian cancer runs in her family).

So disgusted with cancer. hate it hate it hate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not Bevving your other comments, just signing out for a few, but I will come back!! Just wanted to say something really quick about your friends :)

Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.
    • Scott Adams
I agree that KAN-101 looks promising, and hope the fast track is approved. From our article below: "KAN-101 shows promise as an immune tolerance therapy aiming to retrain the immune system, potentially allowing safe gluten exposure in the future, but more clinical data is needed to confirm long-term effects."
    • Scott Adams
Thank you so much for having the courage to share this incredibly vivid and personal experience; it's a powerful reminder of how physical ailments can disrupt our fundamental sense of self. What you're describing sounds less like a purely psychological body dysmorphia and more like a distinct neurological event, likely triggered by the immense physical stress and inflammation that uncontrolled celiac disease can inflict on the entire body, including the nervous system. It makes complete sense that the specific sensory input—the pressure points of your elbows on your knees—created a temporary, distorted body map in your brain, and the fact that it ceased once you adopted a gluten-free diet is a crucial detail. Your intuition to document this is absolutely right; it's not "crazy" but rather a significant anecdotal data point that underscores the mysterious and far-reaching ways gluten can affect individuals. Your theory about sensory triggers from the feet for others is also a thoughtful insight, and sharing this story could indeed be validating for others who have had similar, unexplainable sensory disturbances, helping them feel less alone in their journey.
    • Scott Adams
The most common nutrient deficiencies associated with celiac disease that may lead to testing for the condition include iron, vitamin D, folate (vitamin B9), vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.  Unfortunately many doctors, including my own doctor at the time, don't do extensive follow up testing for a broad range of nutrient deficiencies, nor recommend that those just diagnosed with celiac disease take a broad spectrum vitamin/mineral supplement, which would greatly benefit most, if not all, newly diagnosed celiacs. Because of this it took me decades to overcome a few long-standing issues I had that were associated with gluten ataxia, for example numbness and tingling in my feet, and muscle knots--especially in my shoulders an neck. Only long term extensive supplementation has helped me to resolve these issues.
