For some reason the juxtaposing of Hork along with proper grammatical explanations strikes me as very funny. Good to know, however, that hork can be used as a transitive verb.

Well hork me, that is phunny!!!!!!!!!!

Hork is a verb that I remember from my teenage years, oh so long ago. As we used it, it referred only to one sense, involving expectoration of phlegm. And then spitting in onto the sidewalk or whatever surface was close at hand. :greenfacedguy: Yeah, sometimes one of us would "hork a big one."

Hmmm....in california, we always said "hawk" - - or was it honk? "he honked a loogie"

"he hawked a loogie" not sure.....but it was never hork, to my knowledge....

unless.........the "R" is simply not pronounced

My gawd.....I've missed everybody! We're at a hotel for the next few nights....the movers came a day early, on Friday, and got the whole job knocked out in 2 days. Our closing isn't until Tuesday afternoon.

Padt's homeless!!!! and in a hotel, eating toast! didja have to bring yer own toaster and crap? Well of COURSE you did  totally blows........seeing your boys, aw that is good......keep a stiff upper lip, Padt

What I want to know is how Jess was planning on using it??

 I believe it had to do with cat vomit?

OK, can someone please tell me why, out of my whole giant living room, the cats have to puke right where the hallway is.

eeeeww

 It is an unwritten, invisible rule of Cat Law. What I want to know is, at what age do they start this? Kitteh Boy  is perfect, has done no barph yet.....

he is adorable :wub: My mom calls him Dream Cat and is wildly jealous of his affectionate, adorable, neurosis-free ways.....her three cats are useless, really

DD's birthday today. Trying to keep the mood up 'round here... . . ..and today is International Peace Day. Jack's school is having a huge rally/symposium this afternoon. The keynote speaker is Arun Ghandi, Mahatma's grandson. He will be speaking about inner peace, and how it must be nurtured and fostered from infancy so that we can have real outer peace in this troubled world we are in today.

Jack is doing the French emcee-ing. Local TV and radio news channels will be there...perhaps it will end up on youtube!

Jack speaks French? :o Does everyone up there speak French? I thought that was only in Quebec.....wait.......are you quite near Quebec? Are yer kids Quebecois?

does Poeter speak French too? phluently?

am I just sooooo stupid?

Hi Nik, Hi Judith, and a weak but mildly silly hello to all sillies...........

apologies to Jess (SNOWING again in Seattle? what in hell) but, it's near 70 here today and pure blue skies....the gentle spring days.....so pharking phleeting <_< Must enjoy! :)

Ottawa is just across the Ottawa River from Kay-beck. The federal government is a major employer in the region, and to work for them you pretty much have to be fluent in both languages.

I am originally from Ottawa, and learned French as a child, but we moved to Toronto in 1960, and for six years I did not use it at all. Then six years of it in school, in which I did well, but then it again fell into disuse. I can get by, but am a long way from fluent. I read okay, but have trouble sometimes keeping up with speech. As to expressing myself, well, the only good thing is that, because I learned it as a young child, I speak without an English-Canadian accent.

Sophie is also fluent in French. Happy birthday, Sophie! :)

I sometimes fear that I'm letting out too many unknown things about scientists; that we'll lose the mystique. Now, when some respected researcher comes on the news, instead of thinking "Wow! He's a scientist!" You'll be thinking "Hey, I wonder what he named his freezers..."

Yep, living so close to Quebec means most of us here parlent Francais. A great language....so much better, all around, than our own dreaded English language. How did such a lingo, so fraught with ridiculous rules, exceptions, idiosyncracies and grammatical cruxes, become the International language of Humanity?? <_<

YES.... . . . . . .moi aussi. .. . .....

Pahteeeeigh! Hope you are managing in yer hotel room, with a nice, firm mattress, rich, room-blackening drapes, lovely dimmable lamps....and of course, the handy Gideon bible for those quiet moments. . . . .. :D

Ahhhhhh . . . but you forget . . . Patti likes to do laundry. I now have visions of Patti in the hotel laundry washing her own sheets and towels.

Morning sillies-

exhausted- spent a long weekend at home with my family- uncle had a major heart attack identical to my dad about 3 weeks ago and underwent the same surgery. Last week he ended up back in the hospital with an infection--and at the time of the intitial surgery they had amputated several toes on his left leg due to poor circulation--the toes got infected and the infection traveled to his heart--how the visiting nurse did not see this coming has astounded us all. My uncle lives alone- never married no kids- he lives about 2 minutes from my parents who have been looking in on him daily. My dad came to the house on Friday morning to find my uncle pretty much out of it- he could barely talk and when he did speak it was jumbled words, he had no control of motor skills and he was starting to shake violently--he was taken by ambulance back to the hospital--and now he is fighting for his life- they took the rest of his leg off as well to above his leg. The infection had killed quite a bit. If they didn't take the leg he would have died from that alone. None he is in a medically induced coma so they can keep him open--his entire chest wound from the first surgery is infected and needs to heal---its a mess.....

So Imade a late night trip back here and am at work for the time being--we have 2 audits at the end of this week so I need to be here to get that done...

This has not been a good week for us at all---in sillyville and now for me outside--life has been testing me to say the least.

So my prayers are with all sillies and the families of those as well...keep up the positive notes---everyone will get through.

Have you tried Pure Encapsulations supplements? This is a brand my doctor recommends for me. I have no issues with this brand.

plant sources of calcium, such as spinach, have calcium bound to oxalates, which is not good. best source of calcium is unfortunately dairy, do you tolerate dairy? fermented dairy like kefir is good and or a little hard cheese. i do eat dairy, i can only take so much dietary restriction and gluten is hard enough! but i guess some people do have bad reactions to it, so different for everyone.

i take b12, folate, b2, b6, glycine, Nac, zinc, vk2 mk4, magnesium, coq10, pqq, tmg, creatine, omega 3, molybdnem (sp) and just started vit d. quite a list i know.  I have high homocysteine (last checked it was 19, but is always high and i finally decided to do something about it) and very low vitamin d, 10. have been opposed to this supp in the past, but going to try it at 5k units a day. having a pth test on friday, which is suspect will be high. my homocysteine has come down to around 9 with 3 weeks of these supplements and expect it to go down further. i also started on estrogen/progesterone. I have osteoporosis too, so that is why the hormones.  anyway, i think all celiacs should have homocysteine checked and treated if needed (easy enough with b vit, tmg). homocysteine very bad thing to be high for a whole host of reasons. all the bad ones, heart attack , stroke, alzi, cancer..... one of the most annoying things about celiacs (and there are so many!) is the weight gain. i guess i stayed thin all those years being undiagnosed because i was under absorbing everything including calories. going gluten-free and the weight gain has been terrible, 30#, but i'm sure a lot more went into that (hip replacement - and years of hip pain leading to inactivity when i was previously very active, probably all related to celiacs, menopause) yada yada. i seemed to lose appetite control, like there was low glp, or leptin or whatever all those hormones are that tell you that you are full and to stop eating. my appetite is immense and i'm never full. i guess decades or more ( i think i have had celiacs since at least my teens - was hospitalized for abdominal pain and diarrhea for which spastic colon was eventually diagnosed and had many episodes of diarrhea/abdominal pain through my 20's. but that symptom seemed to go away and i related it to dairy much more so than gluten. Also my growth was stunted, i'm the only shorty in my family. anyway, decades of malabsorption and maldigestion led to constant hunger, at least thats my theory. then when i started absorbing normally, wham!! FAT!!!

Great advise there I agree with the aniexty part, and the aura migraine has I suffer both, I've also read some great books that have helped I'm going too look the one you mentioned up too thankyou for that, I find a camomile tea just a small one and a gentle wind down before bed has helped me too, I suffer from restless leg syndrome and nerve pain hence I don't always sleep well at the best of times , racing mind catches up I have decorated my whole house in one night in my mind before 🤣 diet changes mindset really help , although I have to say it never just disappears, I find once I came to terms with who I am I managed a lot better  , a misconception is for many to change , that means to heal but that's not always the case , understanding and finding your coping mechanisms are vital tools , it's more productive to find that because there is no failure then no pressure to become something else , it's ok to be sad it's ok to not sleep , it's ok to worry , just try to see it has a journey not a task 🤗

I agree there I've tryed this myself to prove I can't eat gluten or lactose and it sets me back for about a month till I have to go back to being very strict to settle again
