Clean the apartment? Dress up and go out for dinner? Um, that just has never been happening. . . ......

Plus, it is their BIG wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks. Hope he's out fer that.. . .. ... .. ..

We have had snow, rain, ice pellets and sleet, and it is not over yet. Current conditions as I look out the back window is light snow. We are expecting another 5 to 10 cm in the next 24 hours.

I think I could take what Susie and Patti are experiencing. ;)

Padt's lost touch w/ reality

:huh::huh: WHERE IN HELL IS EVERYBODY????:huh::huh:

Gah... . .. . . . pardon my outburst.... .. ....... . I just MISS everyone!

Jack has a query for us all:

Would you rather have a magnetic head, or a magnetic bum?

psawyer Proficient

A magnetic bum might help me avoid slipping off when sitting on a metal chair or bench. And it would be nice to think that I had an "attractive" ass. B)

Thanks Peter (and Jack), I really needed that.

Yes, I'm still at work. All the graphs exist, although without suitable labeling.

phorgot to comment on this earlier.........it do not matter why your dad wants to be out for your mum's birfday, he just wants to be OUT, and he should be!!!!!!! :) Hoping he is out quite soon.......

:( I know.....it's NEVER been so quiet here in the 'ville. We are going to have to recruit soon......should we post summat on the main forum? Just HOW will we find jen-yoo-eyne PSILLIES???????????????

But......we need Ptaum.......and Nik.......and Jools........and Laura.......and Momma G....and Leesargh....and Sarah ALL THE TIME........and the old-timers who USED to post. :(

I LOVE Jack's new query. I do think it would be less troublesome to have things attach to one's arse, rather than one's head. Just a thought.

WOT????????? THAT song is in your head?

That sort of reminded me of "Lemon Tree" by Trini Lopez........Lauren and I worked at this silly "gallery" in Monterey and we worked with Trini Lopez's daughter.........and had that celiac disease in the store.......we danced wildly to it all the time.......but only when young Holly wasn't there

ALL DAY LONG I have had "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" in my head and on my Ipod.....I sang that song at work all day and drove them mad

am drinking red wine, and bored, and lonely

what else is new

This is a tough one. Yes, one would stay put on metal stools, to be sure...... . . but I can only imagine how one would constantly be pulling errant metal coins, keys, cutlery, chains out of one's crack. . . . . .....

There once was girl with celiac,

a fine lookin chick who pulled coins from her crack.

Bent over, she was, for most of her day,

seeking errant jewels that had gone astray.

When asked why her bum twas so very psilly

she'd answer, "Tis those magnetic villi".

Folks all around came to see the lass

pull metal objects from her attractive a**.

In answer to Jack's query, I'd have to go wif me bum. Surely having a magnetic 'ead would be painphul, what wif the metal making a beeline and all..... :o Sumphin large, say an anchor or a toolbox, would knock you into next week! :P

P-Kitteh's checking Weezie's glands?

elye Community Regular

Good Psnaoughy morning, Psillies!

Mygawd...... . . . . cannot get me mind off the idea of Magnetic Bum Cracks. .....

....The first great band name of 2009. . .. ..

Jack has weighed in: Definitely a polarized head. He would risk the toolbox- and Wylie Coyote-type anvil attractions, and believes he could really take advantage by throwing his house key and any change he gets from the corner store up onto his forehead - - no more frustrated searching for these errant things in the depths of his pockets.

Need a spare fork? Just have one hanging from your ear. Jack smartly thought of how his dad could really benefit with a magnetic head when he's fixing things outside - - his hammer, pliers and screwdrivers could be lined up above his eyes and he could just grab the one he needs......no more scrambling around in the toolbelt.

Yep, he makes good arguments.

But I'm still goin' for the Magnetic Arse......

eh-hem...

Morning sillies-

Keep your fingers crossed-John might get his surgery by the end of the week! He is seeing the doctor here today and that doctor said he is not sure why the doctors in the other hospital are dragging their feet--esp. when a patient is in pain and not eating. crazy system we have!

The weather here is cold again! Last week I broke out my sandals-this week I wont even think of putting them on- We might see snow flakes today--So much for flowers and gardens!

Well I guess work is calling- bye everyone

Jestgar Rising Star

I had a dream last night that the cats had moved the bookcase away from the doorway and were all playing happily together.

Not sure what it means. Must be my vision of world peace.

That, and a butt without spare coins stuck to it.:P

Dd10 was tested for celiac four years ago bc two siblings were dx’d (positive labs and biopsies). Her results at the time were positive ema  and ttg (7x the UL), but a negative biopsy. We checked again three months later and her ttg was still positive (4x the UL), but ema and biopsy were negative. Doc said it was “potential celiac” and to keep eating gluten, but we were concerned about harming her growth and development while young and had her go gluten-free because we felt the labs and ema in particular were very suggestive of early celiac, despite the negative biopsies. She also had stomach aches and lethargy when eating it. We just felt it’d be better to be safe than sorry. Now, four years later, she doesn’t want to be gluten-free if she doesn’t “have to be,” so underwent a 12 week gluten challenge. She had labs done before starting and all looked great (celiac panel all negative, as expected.) Surprisingly, she experienced no noticeable symptoms when she began eating gluten again, which we felt was a positive sign. However, 12 weeks in, her labs are positive again (ttg 4x the UL and ema positive again as well). Doc says that since she feels fine and her previous two biopsies showed nothing, she can just keep eating gluten and we could maybe biopsy again in two years. I was looking up the ema test and the probability of having not just one but two false positives, and it seems ridiculously low.  Any advice? Would you biopsy again? She’s old enough at this point that I really feel I need her buy-in to keep her gluten-free, and she feels that if the doc says it’s fine, then that’s the final word — which makes me inclined to biopsy again and hope that it actually shows damage this time (not because I want her to have celiac like her sisters, but because I kind of think she already does have it, and seeing the damage now would save her more severe damage in the long run that would come from just continuing to eat gluten for a few more years before testing again.)  Our doc is great - we really like him. But we are very confused and want to protect her. One of her older sibs stopped growing and has lots of teeth problems and all that jazz from not catching the celiac disease sooner, and we don’t want to get to that point with the younger sis. fwiw- she doesn’t mind the biopsy at all. It’s at a children’s hospital and she thinks it’s kind of fun. So it’s not like that would stress her out or anything.

Thanks for the replies. I already use a gluten-free brand of buckwheat flakes I occasionally get itchy bumps. I'm still reviewing all my food products. I occasionally eat prepackaged gluten-free crackers and cookies, so I'll stop using those. I use buckwheat flakes and Doves Farm flour as a base for baking. Would you recommend eliminating those as well? It's a constant search.

Gluten free food is not fortified with vitamins and minerals as regular food is.  Vitamin deficiencies are common especially in recently diagnosed persons,  Get a 25(OH)Vitamin D blood test. And work on raising it.  The safe upper blood level is around 200 nmol/L.    "Low serum levels of 25(OH)D have been associated with increased risk of autoimmune disease onset and/or high disease activity. The role of vitamin D in autoimmune diseases   🏋️‍♂️Good job!   I find the commercial milk will give me mild stomach burn at night, while pasture/grassfed only milk does not bother me at all.  While you are healing, listen to your body.  If it hurts to eat something, eat something else.  You may be able to eat it later, or maybe it is just not good for you.  Lower your Omega 6 to 3 ratio of what you eat.  Most omega 6 fatty acids are inflammation causing.    The standard american diet omega 6:3 ratio is estimated at upward of 14:1.  Thats why fish oil works

I  notice a reaction to tea bags, possibly due to gluten or other substances. Is this recognizable?
    • trents
The blood tests you had done are not the main ones. The two main ones are the "Total IGA" (to check for IGA deficiency) and the "TTG-IGA". Current guidelines for the "gluten challenge" when people have been gluten free for a significant time period are the daily consumption of at least10g of gluten (about the amount in 4-6 slices of wheat bread) for at least two weeks leading up to the day of the blood draw. That should give you some perspective.
