aw Judy :( thinking of you, honey.

I don't hate holidays so much as the HASSLE involved in them <_<

Well, I've made it back safely, no one was harmed, injured, or arrested, and now I'm squirting whipped cream out of a can into my mouth. Don't tell Janie :lol:

Off to stumble along walk my girl..........

WHERE IS GIAN-KNIT???????????? this is UNACCEPTABLE, I tell you, NO check-in the entire time - harrumph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

jerseyangel Proficient
Sorry Mimi - can\'t like the coffee <_<

HAS to be whine!!

I'm wif ya on that, Nik ;) I love the smell of coffee--I wish I liked it.....

And I want some of Janie's pie, too. Been obsessing about it.....Suz, can you get me a recipe or directions? That sounds so good!

Great night last night, and LATE. Seven of us were in the ho'tub for much too long, passing around a bottle of champagne.

Ha! When I didn't see you around last night or earlier this morning, I thought "Em must be really tieing one on" Enjoy that big phamily dinner!! :D

Nathan is home!......with his entourage......me, his dad, his wife, and mother-in-law.

Best news EVER!!!!! :D:D:D Love the pic--Nate looks so good and happy to be home!

more later - unless I die, pass out, or am arrested

Gawd Soozle--be carephul!! :o You poor thing :( It's tough running on no sleep.

i hate Easter too.

tis the anniv of me Daddy's passing.

I remember that--sorry Judith :(

Well, I've made it back safely, no one was harmed, injured, or arrested, and now I'm squirting whipped cream out of a can into my mouth. Don't tell Janie :lol:

Well that's good!

Yeah--when was Jan-it supposed to be back? I miss her. :)

Alright.

Who's a$$hat idea was it to make a raised garden bed? Do you people have any idea how much dirt weighs??? And how utterly ridiculous it is to buy dirt??

I am so frickin tired.

But I will be able to make coffee tomorrow call my neighbor and have her come over and make me coffee tomorrow.

I just hope one of these stupid plants grows

Was a very long day for us--

I am sorry for you, this must be very stressful. Hope things are better and you have been able to rest and regroup.

coffee maker died

:( Horrified :( "no coffee, no workee"

get piles of dirt for new garden bed

We are thinking of ordering some pre-fab cedar raised beds, can't wait! I love to grow things..."It's alive!!"

We want the JUICY kind!! MOM!!! MOM!!! MOM!!!! MOM!!"

Plan for Sunday:

Stay in bed all day

Green with envy

TOP TIP BEVEL!!!!....yes, i MUST never wear THAT! <people would be vomitting in the street  >

:rolleyes::lol:

Sorry Mimi - can\'t like the coffee <_<

Sweet amber liquid of life, I cannot live without thee

HAS to be whine!!

I am not much of a whiner, but my brother brought over a nice "Menage a Trois" (sp?), a 2007 CA blended zinfendal/merlot/cabernet sauvignon. It was quite tasty--precocious yet wise beyond it's years, brazen and flirty yet shy with it's affections, voyeuristic yet openly humorous . ~hiccup~

GADS I need your life

:P

Boiler\'s working!!!!!

WOO-HOO we can WASH!!!!!!!!

hooray!

Great night last night, and LATE. Seven of us were in the ho'tub for much too long, passing around a bottle of champagne.

More envy

Another big, fattening dinner tonight with family. Not weighing myself until June.

Had a little pitty party for myself today.......smelling orange rolls baking for breakfast for everyone but me. They got Sonic Burgers last night.....and Easter dinner will be tabu for me. :( ........Desserts every night. It's so much easier when I'm in my own environment that I can control. Most of the time I'm not bothered by all the things I can't eat, but I've never had it shoved in my face to this extreme. I know they are just trying to fix all of Nathan's favorite things.

Hugs! Don't be sad, you aren't missing a thing. If you were near I'd bake lots o' luscious gluten-free treats for you :) . One day, maybe, we will meet up and I shall spoil you with food.

I really can not sleep - ever - EVER - without the use of certain drugs (and I come by this honestly - both on mom AND dad's sides) - it's horrifying....so I have run out of one drug (seroquel - must go pick it up THIS INSTANT) and decided to take a sample of Lunesta. Have done taht before and I did sleep soundly but.....I think I took Seroquel WITH it. (um - I can take enough drugs to knock out a horse and pretty much multi-task all night long, with heart pounding heavily and hard in my chest)

Oh, this sucks sooo bad! I have been there--insomnia so bad at times I've survived on 1-2 hours a night for months on end and stay awake with Lunesta and Ambien.so - took the Lunesta (3 mg., standard dose) at 11..........waited three hours, reading, watching Oprah, infomercials, etc  wide awake, took a second one at 2. Um........still wide awake at 4, I took a lorazepam.

so.........yeah......slept maybe 30 minutes and then at 8 am I took a Klonepin, hoping to just freaking sleep until 11 or summat.

Dangerous cocktail, that. Must be very careful.

'tis miserable

I really, really feel for you :(

I am psychotic from it.

more later - unless I die, pass out, or am arrested

Hope you got some sleep!

Happy Easter Eve! I had my brother, my little neice and bro's girlfriend over today. 3 birthdays and early Easter. I made this:

and it was YUM w/ corn chips. Also made a pan of gluten-free chocolate chip cookie bars out of Pamela's Baking Mix and Enjoy Life choc. chips. Big fruit salad and gluten-free Cucina's gluten-free pizza. OMG, everybody ate plenty, then the whole lot of 'em went into an insulin coma whereever they could find a place to nap. It was nice, like weekend at Mom's.

Wishing you all a sweet family time this holiday!!

Ah, another great evening, this time at me sister's......Great food and company. I am a very lucky one, I am. :)

Sooooozie! My heart goes out to you. . . . . ....insomnia is a scary, horrid monster. :( I hope the meds you picked up will give you a great night's sleep. .. . . ....

Jooooooodie! Thinking about you.........a sad weekend for you. . . . . ..

Nikker's boiler is chugging away. ...'tis phab.

Coffee versus wine? Raised gardens?.......hmmmmmm....things to ponder as the Easter weekend speeds along. . . . . ...

Jess--I prescribe a warm bath and sleeping in tomorrow morning :)

I'm having a wild Saturday night....running a load of laundry  We talked to Matt tonight--he's doing phabulously in his lil' house, but I miss him and his brother so much.... :( This is the phirst Easter we will not be able to spend together.

Both boys are having dinner at me older son's girlfriend's parent's house tomorrow--they should have a great time. Phab people--we've spent the last several Thanksgivings wif them. I pheel like I need to bake sumphin

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/
