I'm in a good moment right now, so I take these little pockets of time and do the things I need to do (help my mom with the financial stuff, eat something, try to exercise the dogs). At the top of this list is talking to you guys.

Thank you so much, dear buddies, for all the support you have given me. I will be okay because of friends like you, and the family I truly cannot believe that I have.

OoooH!! Bev-really! :( I did the very same thing last winter! Craved phudgesikkles sooooo bad! Hubby picked some up for me.....I didn't think to read the label (talk about your baaaaad brain phart!! :angry: ) Hope yer pheelin better soon.

I would imagine your emotions are and were doing the same .

I so enjoyed seeing the clip of the celebration of life and getting to see you & your Mom and Sister.

I'd checked out your links before but NOW I REALLY remember seeing him on TV when I saw the clips of him with the mustach. I so enjoyed that show.

I hope you will take care of yourself as you go about these next few days and weeks. It was great to see you post.

Thank you for taking the time to share with us a little of the celebration of your dad's life. I had never seen your dad before, but from just the short clips shown I could see that he was a very special person who will be greatly missed. Incidentally, you looked great!!! Take care, luv, and enjoy the time with your family; it's times like these we really appreciate 'em.

FIL and step-MIL are due to arrive on Saturday. Somebody needs to come over and clean my house!!! Apparently, nobody here is going to do it!!! This is why I had children!!! so they can clean my house . . . I have to tell you that when I was a kid, I actually thought that mom and dad had kids so they wouldn't have to do dishes or clean the house anymore.

Did youse guys know that chickens pant?

Cats are furious with me for making it so hot, but too limp to do anything more than a pitiful mmmmooowwl when I walk by.

Our overnight lows are what our normal highs should be. And yes I know it's hot lots of places, but keep in mind that people don't have air conditioning. Many business don't either. Our buildings are designed to garner heat (black roofs and such), not repel it.

We're just not made for this sort of thing up here.

AANNNDD conversations have become incredibly dull. "Did you have a breeze last night?" "What's your house like?" "I'm too hot to do anything." "Can I just stay on the ferry all day?"

One of our ferry crew admitted she took a cab home -her house is a 7 minute walk from the boat...

:lol: I thought exactly the same thing. Except I know they had only me because they were still trying for a boy, and since I couldn't accomplish that pheat without expensive surgery, I'd darned well better make meselph usephul.

I know--I was thinking how lucky I was because at least here everything is air conditioned and although it's oppressive outside, it's easy to escape it and be comfortable. Youse guys have to be absolutely wilting. :( And the poor kitties wif their phur coats....

I grew up in central NY, and it was kinda that same way back then--unless you were rich, you didn't have A/C at home and gawd forbid, in cars. It got really hot maybe one week out of the year, and that was quite enough.....we lived in a small ranch house, and at the beginning of every summer my parents scrubbed and painted the garage floor.

We ate dinner out there, and us kids slept there on cots and lounge chairs. :lol: We had a screen across the overhead door opening, and it was at least 10 degrees cooler there than in the house. It was attached to our kitchen by a doorway, and while it sounds awful, it was our "summer room"--complete wif portable TV. :rolleyes:

Can't believe I just admitted that :lol:

Must be the heat.

dear gawd :lol::unsure: this really is untenable, isn't it? how do you guys DO it? I'd have to install a window cooler in my bedroom, and NEVER leave there........call in sick every day until heat wave passes......what's the temp up there, BTW? my niece lives there also....thinks it's crazy that the city of SEattle hasn't taken advantage of this thing called AIR CONDITIONING

      Hi Christiana, Many thanks for your response.  Interestingly, I too cannot eat wheat in France without feeling effects (much less than in the US, but won't indulge nonetheless).  I also understand children are screened for celiac in Italy prior to starting their education. Wise idea as it seems my grandson has the beginning symptoms (several celiacs in his dad's family), but parents continue to think he's just being difficult.  Argh.  There's a test I took that diagnosed gluten sensitivity in 2014 via Entero Labs, and am planning on having done again.  Truth be told, I'm hoping it's the bromine/additives/preservatives as I miss breads and pastas terribly when home here in the states!  Be well and here's to our guts healing ❤️

      Lol that’s so true! Hope you get clarity, it’s tough when there’s doubt. There’s so much known about celiac disease with all the scientific research that’s been done so far yet practically and clinically there’s also so much unknown, still. Out of curiosity what’s her dairy consumption like? Even compared to early years to now? Has that changed? Calcium is dependent in the mechanism of antigen presenting cells in the gut. High calcium foods with gluten grains can initiate inflammation greater.  This is why breakfast cereals and milk combo long term can be a ticking time bomb for genetically susceptible celiacs (not a scientific statement by any means but my current personal opinion based on reasoning at present). Milk and wheat are the top culprits for food sensitivity. Especially in childhood. There are also patient cases of antibodies normalising in celiac children who had milk protein intolerance/ delayed type allergy. Some asymptomatic. There were a couple of cases of suspected celiacs that turned out to have milk protein intolerance that normalised antibodies on a gluten containing diet. Then there were others that only normalised antibodies once gluten and milk was eliminated. Milk kept the antibodies positive. Celiac disease is complicated to say the least.

      And thank you for your encouragement. I am glad that her body is doing a good job fighting it. I also just want clarity for her moving forwards. She was only 6 for the last round of testing and she's 10 now, so I'm also hoping that makes a difference. It was weird during her last round of testing though, because right before her biopsy, we'd upped her gluten intake by giving her biscuits made from straight up vital wheat gluten, and her labs actually normalized slightly (lower ttg and her ema went negative). Bodies just do weird things sometimes! lol

      The first negative biopsy in 2021 just said "no pathological change" for all the samples, and the second one in 2022 said "Duodenal mucosa with mild reactive change (focal foveolar metaplasia) and preserved villous architecture." So I think Marsh score 0 in both cases, though it's not actually written in the pathology reports. I'm really hoping to get a clear positive result this time, just for her sake.

      Hopefully the biopsy gives a conclusive and correct diagnosis for your daughter. Im in the UK and have been in the situation a few years ago of trying to rule celiac in or out after inconclusive results. Many symptoms pointing to it including the classic symptoms and weight loss and folate and iron deficiency. You have to play a waiting game. I also had the label of IBS and likely food allergy. Genetic test showed low risk for celiac but not no risk. It sounds like the Gastroenterologist is on it and hopefully will diagnose what it is correctly. Food hypersensitivity (allergy) can also cause similar symptoms and inflammation as well as mimicking IBS. Milk / dairy and wheat (cereal grains) being the biggest culprits. The “oesophagitis” and “gastritis” you mentioned can be caused by another gastrointestinal disorder called “eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders”. These are named depending on which part of the gastrointestinal tract is affected. For example eosinophilic oesophagitis, eosinophilic gastritis, eosinophilic gastroenteritis, and more rare eosinophilic colitis. They are antigen (allergen) driven. When the blood test measuring anti-ttg antibodies is positive in absence of a positive ema test - which is more specific to celiac, this can also suggest food hypersensitivity (allergy). Usually delayed type allergy similar to celiac but not autoimmune if that makes sense. In this case the ttg antibodies are transient. Which happens. I’ve first hand experience. For info, evidence of villous atrophy too can be caused by food hypersensitivity. Not just by celiac disease. In Egid disorders the six food elimination diet, under a dietitian and gastroenterologist care, is the dietary protocol to figure out the culprit or culprits. Sometimes only two food elimination diet is used at first. The number one culprit is milk protein / dairy. Followed by wheat, eggs, soy, fish and seafood, and nuts. Most are only reactive to one food group or two. Most are only reactive to milk. Hope this is a helpful reply.
