My friend's mom wanted to be called grandma Polly, but the wee one couldn't pronounce that so the woman became, and remains, Gran Pocky. To everyone. And the wee one just left for college.

My brother always called his grandma........gung-gung

Boss is worried about me.......this week I forgot my:

cell phone - twice

glasses - twice <VERY challenging - everyone had to read things to me, and I had to enlarge the font to size 24 just to READ things boss sent me>

purse - once

things to take to post office - once

dog - never

stack of pamphlets - once

own name - 500 times

.......and so it begins....... :P

Wonder how wee Alexis is doing today? Nursing has probably begun in earnest... . ...what a life - -eating, sleeping, looking around, spitting up, pooping.. .. .....

She has a masters in pooping. She did that while still in paradise.....not supposed to happen

......then again after her debut

Don't know how the wee one is doing today....no phone calls, which means no news to report.

......Grandma and Grandpa have the house to themselves ;)

Well, she's a sillie ain't she? A wee one anyway :D

Still have me computer and TV fer the moment--fone is already shut off so I thought I'd pop in quick before abyss.......

Nik--they can get a general idea from a blood test. My dr at the time said the hormone levels fluctuate from day to day but it can give you a rough idea of where you are on the mentalpause timeline. Worth a shot, I'd say since you're gonna be there anyway. :)

Gotta strip the bed and get moving here--hee! get it? moving...

See ya'll later B)

I've gotta go back to my doc next week (for blood test results)...maybe I'll mention me night sweats.....can they tell if your 'in' the menopause by bloods..anyone know???

Was wondering this meselph, as I must be, if not there, at least within shouting distance of perimentalpause. Here's what i GOT:

There are two blood tests that can be administered to diagnose the onset of menopause. However, neither one is completely accurate in determining if a woman is actually experiencing the effects of perimenopause.

One test involves measuring levels of estriadol in the bloodstream. Estriadol is a form of estrogen, and the serum estrogen test will identify levels under 50 pg/ml (picograms per milliliter). Levels of 20 to 30 pg/ml is considered by most professionals to indicate menopause.

The other test looks for high levels of FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormones), typically below 30 pg/ml in premenopausal women. This level has been known to reach as high as 100 pg/ml in women experiencing menopause. FSH is produced by the pituitary gland to stimulate egg production in the ovaries, and levels rise as menopause sets in and the ovaries stop working.

Wow......somewhat TMI, methinks. . . . . . . . .... <_<

but thanks, Poeter. :)

been feeling like this for the better part of.......the last year and a half. I honestly don't think I've ever quite recovered from..........well, A$$ Hat, and many, many other things. I have pretty much EVERY SINGLE SYMPTOM of severe adrenal exhaustion. I don't know what to do. :( But it makes sense...that Siege of Terror in 2005 was 100 percent, pure, non-stop adrenaline for four months solid, day in, day out, morning, noon, night, during the night, most awful thing to have gone through, that feeling of 100 percent panic, 100 percent of the time, for that long...I had a full DECADE with pretty much no sleep (I have been drugging myself for ten years to get to sleep, every SINGLE night), chronic insomnia, and many, many times went entire DAYS without sleep.....all the bipolar years, which are NOT fully over (hence wondering why I'm gluten-free????? ) and the constant UPS and DOWNS, buildups (my body could NOT slow down.....there's a good reason I have 17 speeding tickets, folks  ) and then the HUGE crashes.......

I am just completely, utterly, gob-smackingly WORN OUT. My hair is seriously falling out again, my brain is a WASTELAND of fuzz and haziness....and I have been in bed for the entire day today, and will be for tomorrow, and most of Monday and Tuesday......as with most weekends. :( This is SOOOOOOOOOOO not normal, and so not the life I ever thought I'd have. :(:(:(

Weez hasn't had a walk since Monday, I am gaining weight like crazy, but feel too weak to exercise, and also very light-headed and dizzy all the time.....

dear GAWD! this is SILLYVILLE!!! so sorry pholks, nothin' to see here, just keep moving along.........

but it's just pathetic......I DO have brief moments of a *teensy* bit of energy, but not much.....just enough to muster strength to go out now and then, or walk the dog.....but my floor hasn't been scrubbed in.......I can't even tell you guys how long. My fridge needs cleaning, cupboards need it also, carpet needs shampooing like you wouldn't believe....WHOLE HOUSE needs a severe deep-cleaning, and I feel just always on the verge of collapse. :(

and, I just lost another LIFELONG friend, within these past three months....Sophie is gone from my life. :( That was too much to bear. We've known each other since second grade....been the best of friends since college.

Okay....now I"m crying.....

this wasn't supposed to be my life......I don't have much left of me to lose...I am kind of scared.

Read this fast, pholks, I'm sure I'll erase it......

but thanks for listening, my phfriends.

Things are really just very wrong and all wonky and I don't know what to do. All of the unbelievably TREMENDOUS good health I enjoyed in the first two years of g f diet seem to be 100 percent and completely GONE. Just gone. :(

Oh, I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would ask for a collective PRAYER or good thoughts or whatever you do for this:

I am seeing a doctor next week who was listed as a doctor on the Armour thyroid site as one who prescribes same. He is supposed to be excellent, and just may do the correct thyroid/adrenal tests, but I don't know. We all know how frustrating it can be with doctors, and those grey-area issues. :(

And then if all tests are normal.......well, I'm basically screwed. I know how Ptaum felt....where IS he???? I've got to write to him....didn't he see some results FINALLY from some testing? I worry about him. and miss him.

Back to bed, sills.........what a life. :(

p.s. I do NOT publicize this stuff on FB and just try to sound silly and breezy there, and also try not to worry me mum too much.....thanks, luvs

Sooooozle, I am so very sorry about the crappy state you're in. You are just such an amazingly terrific, beautiful soul.........no one deserves to feel this bad, but especially you. :( I have no real words of wisdom or advice......just know that I think of you so often, and I am so pleased to hear that you've gotten in with the Magic Armour Doc. Hey, he could be the one.

I, too, kept thinking of Ptaoughmghmn while I was reading your last post. He did seem to find some answers at the last place he ventured to .. .. . . .

Where is he, indeed? Sooooze, you should email him.

I'm so sorry, Soozle, you and I were squiggling and getting emoticonly busted alongside each other, think the board kept getting us mixed up, so my post came out before I had read yours.

You must get yourself a good doc, hopefully the Armour one, and get your physical self straightened out and then the rest, I am sure, will take care of itself. You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I am so sad about Sophie. I lost my bestest friend three years ago, and it leaves one so bereft, as bad as losing yer marital partner, yet ye get no condolences or support for it because it is such a private thing and no one knows the suffering. I still miss her every day...

I've been a bit down lately and my house looks much like yours, so don't feel alone.. We will not collapse, we will soldier on and you will make it through the other side of this, I just know, bad as it seems right now. Hang on tight and know we are all here for you.

Um, we are emptying the ho'tub for its seasonal cleaning, and I must announce that I spied a small, unidentifiable dark thing at the bottom, in one corner of it.....cannot make out what it is.. . .. . . . ....

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.
    • catnapt
highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/
