Trying this.

Me too. Thinking of the Grand Marnier.

Careen, when you have a quote that fizzles like your last one, you have accidentally deleted the "end quote". You can go back and put it in by typing open square colon, followed by slash, followed by "quote" leaving out the quote marks, and then close square colon.

Now who made up that stoopid rule??? I do not follow it :P

Admittedly, it was easier not to follow the rule when we had a very fartuous Airedale around.

Mine oven is broke, but it's okay, it's not the oven that won't turn off, only the light. And I can't just unplug it. There is a master switch to turn the oven on and off and the oven stays fully "on" in either position. Do you suppose I should warn the repairman about that??? :o There is no access to the plug that either hub or I am willing to explore, this being 220 and all.... could get someone killt or something.

Wet day today, hooray, didn't have to water garden, but drivers is so stoopid. Had to go to town and see Miss Mary who had a little sidetrip to hospital last week but bounced right back, BUT has not been taking her meds in the evening for at least three weeks and is not eating much except meat pies and bread and butter :o (and three Weetbix with cream on an empty stomach before bedtime) which precipitated the little hospital episode. At 97 she is still fiercely independent but really not up to properly caring for herself. She is such a worry. She won't consider care whilst her kitteh is still wif her :) So bought fixings to make her a big pot of stew and freeze in portions because she luvs stew :D Think she can still use microwave. She said she *only* fell three times this week, but it's okay because she falls backwards!!

(And she's only had two broken hips and only one knee replacement)

G'Day, Peeps!

Think I'll have me eyes open for the entire day, today. Well... . . . ......unless a canvasser comes a' knockin'.... .. . . . . ..

There is a master switch to turn the oven on and off and the oven stays fully "on" in either position.

Holy crap, Shroom...... .yer oven is ON perpetually? Like your fridge and freezer?? How bizarre.... . . . . ..um, why? Don't get it -- and how much power is that being used/wasted? Such a curious thang.... . ....

And Miss Mary! I vaguely remember you telling us about this amazing lady.. . . .....is she your aunt? What an inspirational character!

I wonder if my MIL will live this long.. .. . .....

Finally! A kitchen tip that is truly going to be a godsend for me. I now believe that Mary Anne should be moved onto the shortlist for Sainthood:

survived the midterm from hell. Don't know if I passed. Even the hotshots were on the message board saying one particular problem was really really hard and took like half the time. Prof posted last night that it wasn't that hard and he expected most people would get a lot of points  . whatever

may be going out tonight with the girls. Waiting for a quorum.

Don't feel phunny this a.m. Going to make beef stew in the crock-pot so that may be funny & delish.

Oh Careen is making a yummy dinner- can I come over?

Obviously, you did this all wrong. When my eyes are glued shut for 3 days, I will have a rope to follow to get me to the bathroom.

Gianknit   But would you trust Skeeter and Smackl to not move that rope on you to say...the back porch.

"Hey honey, why is our neighbor peeing on her back porch with her eyes closed?

"Which neighbor? Oh that one- yeah, she's the crazy one. Last week I saw her DRIVING wit her eyes closed. Ah- just let her pee in peace Margaret!"

Em- you are a brave and swarthykooky soul- I would not last 10 minutes with my eyes closed! Love the solicitor story

Why is it that men can fart and it's no big deal (to them), but it is considered unacceptable for women under 10 years old?

No way- let her RIPPPPPPPPPP!

Shroomie- Sorry about yer oven. Miss mary sounds like a handful- my aunt was still driving herself (very fast and badly) at 92. I tried following behind her in my car once and almost couldn't keep up. Hope I have that kick butt independent spirit when I'm older.

survived the midterm from hell.

Congratulations Geoss!!!!!!! Now go get good and drunk on Grand marnier (with extra vodka!)

Oh....in case it has not been posted, I received word yesterday that our Suzzle has indeed gone to the house of billionaire's wife. She said to send word to Psillies- I think she said two nights. An adventure!

You're all invited. Pretty safe invite since most of you live a bit far to get here by supper. And because you are all a safe distance - I just got the best apple cinnamon donut holes from a local gluten-free bakery in town. Better than any donuts with wheat bits I've had. Makes you suspicious of whats really in them? I'm afraid it is something addictive.

Its a cross between Cream of Wh#@t & Oatmeal, 2 of my old favorites. On to the chocolate as it replaces the endorphins my brain is supposedly missing.

Kurt turns 40 on Saturday. Shhhh, he still doesn't know!

Hi Lisa!!! (we will need to come up wif a silly spelling of yer name....it's required ;) )

She will always be Lisa Goosey. 'Sides.....she can't have any of my psilly spellings :P

HI!!!

Hi back!

But my girl is okay, THANK GOD!! Just some surface injuries......

Good to hear. :)

Think of it as a lesson in survival of the fittest. Weezer has met every challenge and survived.....she's one tough cookie!

It's a miracle our chilins make it to adulthood, what with all the 'challenges' we put them through

JoDog hates vacuums . . . She won't even eat if I've been vacuuming and have left the vacuum cleaner too close to her food bowl (and by too close, I mean within 10 feet). Sometimes she can't get to her bowl because she would have to step over the cord to the vacuum (or even just walk next to it). Sometimes we use the vacuum to block her into the "office" when we have someone over that doesn't like dogs . . . works as good as a baby gate.

Hmmmm.......I think you're on to something. Zeus is the same way. He also is askeert of helium filled milar balloons. Why have I been bothering with baby gates all these years?

Milar ballons tied to the vacuum cleaner! I think I'm onto somphin! :D

Headed over wif Skeeter to see your GI . . . perhaps he could come up with another miracle . . . t'would only help his case for sainthood.

Did I ever tell y'all about one of Nathan's friends who has an uncle who was trying to become a saint? She visited Nate in the hospital and brought a charm thingy from his robe.....forget what it was called. It was attached to something that belonged to Nathan......his shoe, actually. This was to bring a miracle for Nathan. The uncle only needed 1 more miracle to become a saint.

So I guess he's a saint now!!! :D:D:D

AND.. . .. ....his first name is Joseph. So, he was my GI Joe.

Why is it that men can fart and it's no big deal (to them), but it is considered unacceptable for women under 10 years old? My stomach is making the most hideous noises right now and anyone within 15 feet of me can hear it and must know what needs to be done, yet I sit here with an upset stomach and perma-flexed cheeks to prevent the "unthinkable" <_<

Tis not fair!

Funny to be around Deaf people who think you can't hear them fart

Oh....in case it has not been posted, I received word yesterday that our Suzzle has indeed gone to the house of billionaire's wife. She said to send word to Psillies- I think she said two nights. An adventure!

Yay!!!!!!!! can't wait for a report! :P

Been catchin up here and I noticed that, evidently, Grand Marnier cures everything, no?

Now that hubby is on second shift, I can watch what I want on TV......harder to get away to keep up with me psillies :P

Did I ever tell you that when the kids are flying kites or when a hot-air balloon flies over our neihborhood (take-off site not too far from our house) that we have to keep JoDog inside? She barks and barks and jumps in the air trying to catch one.

Skeeter update . . . testing that was done by the arse GI came back clean . . . had to find out through my pediatrician though. Pediatrician contacted the arse allergist that we saw over two years ago about what he check her for. I don't know if you remember this, but he could tell by looking at her that he only needed to check her for environmental allergens. He also told me to challenge the celiac disease diagnosis because . . . wait for it . . . "the diet is too hard" . . . ummm, yeah, that's the reason you should challenge the diagnosis. Anyway, pediatrician is ramping up to order some diagnostics so we can light a fire under the appropriate specialists. I like her . . . she's very much of an "I'm in it with you" kind of person.

Lisa Mentor

Happy for you Janet...glad you have someone who can work with you. Moms know best.

Be interesting to see the effects of dairy reintroduction with gluten. As well as milk protein sensitivity in and of itself the casein part particularly has been shown to mimic gluten in about 50% of celiacs. Keep us posted!
    • deanna1ynne
She has been dairy free for six years, so she’d already been dairy free for two years at her last testing and was dairy free for the entire gluten challenge this year as well (that had positive results). However, now that we’re doing another biopsy in six weeks, we decided to do everything we can to try to “see” the effects, so we decided this past week to add back in dairy temporarily for breakfast (milk and cereal combo like you said).
    • Gigi2025
Hi Christiana, Many thanks for your response.  Interestingly, I too cannot eat wheat in France without feeling effects (much less than in the US, but won't indulge nonetheless).  I also understand children are screened for celiac in Italy prior to starting their education. Wise idea as it seems my grandson has the beginning symptoms (several celiacs in his dad's family), but parents continue to think he's just being difficult.  Argh.  There's a test I took that diagnosed gluten sensitivity in 2014 via Entero Labs, and am planning on having done again.  Truth be told, I'm hoping it's the bromine/additives/preservatives as I miss breads and pastas terribly when home here in the states!  Be well and here's to our guts healing ❤️
    • Wends
Lol that’s so true! Hope you get clarity, it’s tough when there’s doubt. There’s so much known about celiac disease with all the scientific research that’s been done so far yet practically and clinically there’s also so much unknown, still. Out of curiosity what’s her dairy consumption like? Even compared to early years to now? Has that changed? Calcium is dependent in the mechanism of antigen presenting cells in the gut. High calcium foods with gluten grains can initiate inflammation greater.  This is why breakfast cereals and milk combo long term can be a ticking time bomb for genetically susceptible celiacs (not a scientific statement by any means but my current personal opinion based on reasoning at present). Milk and wheat are the top culprits for food sensitivity. Especially in childhood. There are also patient cases of antibodies normalising in celiac children who had milk protein intolerance/ delayed type allergy. Some asymptomatic. There were a couple of cases of suspected celiacs that turned out to have milk protein intolerance that normalised antibodies on a gluten containing diet. Then there were others that only normalised antibodies once gluten and milk was eliminated. Milk kept the antibodies positive. Celiac disease is complicated to say the least.
    • deanna1ynne
And thank you for your encouragement. I am glad that her body is doing a good job fighting it. I also just want clarity for her moving forwards. She was only 6 for the last round of testing and she's 10 now, so I'm also hoping that makes a difference. It was weird during her last round of testing though, because right before her biopsy, we'd upped her gluten intake by giving her biscuits made from straight up vital wheat gluten, and her labs actually normalized slightly (lower ttg and her ema went negative). Bodies just do weird things sometimes! lol
