minimommy!!!!!! How the heck have you been? :D

You've been missed here in da ville!

Hellooooo Padts :D So nice to speak wif you again! I haven't been very active on the forum for quite a while (sorry). Lots goin' on. I'll be posting next week after I attend a celiac support group meeting here at my library, let peeps know about it.

I left FB when they changed their privacy. I left a message up b-4 I split but I don't think anyone saw it.

Life in Dey-trois is interesting. I've been doing a lot of volunteer work--helping out at the community food bank in my county and getting active to call attention to the economic disparity in Detroit city proper. Also, we had a tornado in my hood last week--big mess. Lots 'o clean up, no bad damage. All is well.

How are all the psills? Is Padts still in Texas? How are things across the pond w/ Nik? Anymore quakes (doesn't that make 3 psills who've had them now? ) What's up in Fres-no with Suze? Is Judee still smokeless? (I confess, I tried but didn't succeed <_< .) How are Bev and Jess doing and all the rest of youse cwazy kidz? I know several of you started blogging--how is that going?

Hugs to all!!

Sitting listening to the birds in my yard. Some delightful chirps! Some god awful squawks! Some sound just like a neighbors telephone?

Kherrighnne, that may just actually be your neighboUr himself that you are hearing. . . . .... . .some awfully strange characters living in our midst, tryin' to mess with their neighboUrs, I hear.....

Nope, nary a word (about my place - power still out there). Plenty of pics and YouTube stuph though - lost a lot of our heritage buildings, and a lot of the brick (unreinforced) facades off CBD buildings, hence all the rubble. Looks like a war zone. No casualties.

Hey, if our patio is all broken up maybe we can repave with used brick????

Well, the news is all good :D One very frightened kitteh who now sleeps in the bed instead of on it  , some broken ornaments, cracked interior plaster, and stuph flying out of cupboards (but only paperwork and stuph, not breakables, apparently) Modern earthquake proofing sure makes a difference and everything eminently fixable. All the tiles still on the roof even. Haven't got down to the nitty gritty yet, but whew, what a relief. Power back on but no water yet. Guess we will go back after all :P And I won't get some new dinnerware out of it :(

Well, I did notice the lateness(earliness) of the hour . . . you were up 4:45 my time. I shoulda got outta bed and chatted with you, Judee as I was awake at that time . . . just a tossin' anda turnin' . . . and tossin' . . . and turnin'

Headed out to go birding this morning!!! Trying to get Skeeter to join me on one of these treks but she keeps declining. She'd be really good at it. She's forced to listen along in the car when I'm playing my "Birding by Ear" c.d.'s (helps with the identification, you know). I would hazard that she's better at it than I am. Chidlins don't have all the tatt cluttering up their minds like mental grocery lists, appts, stuff I need to gossip about, and errands to run.

Isn't there a old song somthing like this.........""tossin' and turning' ''' oye my foggy brain.

Going to hit the bed early tonight for sure. that was a odd nite.....heck we should'of chatted course i would have made less sense than i usually do............

What birds did you and Skeeter find today?

Jim went on a World Series of Birding in Cape May NJ and was on a team that birds for 24 hrs straight and though the nite and alot of birds are obtained for the list by ear. Amazes me............

You must be a good birder.

Now DIS is HOT. That is sub-Saharan, er sumfin'. . . .. ...... .watch it out there, Joooodie!

My dad was a consummate mimic of human and animal voices.

I have often wondered if my dad's bizarre, yet somehow very credible whistle made it onto any birding soundtracks. Jyaghnutt, if there is a crazy, prehistoric call on that C/D that is stumping you birding identifiers, we may know from where it came... . ... ..particularly if there is follow-up commentary from a Mr. Lyndski...

Em had to cut your emotion cons b/c wouldn't allow me to post......sorry

yep hot in the desert......they lied to meph34r.gif

Jim would have been Mr. Lyndski. Wish i could have met your dad Em.........special man he was for sure

JOODEE!!!!!!!!

Get thee to bed woman!!

'Birding by ear' amuses me

I will inform my chidlins that my choice of music is nae so bad! - some kids in other countries have to listen to birds

Em!

you always make me laugh. thanks Nikki

Great news, Neroli!!! Glad to hear it!!! Is it too late to "stage" the dinnerware being tossed about in the earthquake? Any aftershocks? Perhaps the kitty/house sitter can balance all of your dinnerware on the edge of a table so that an aftershock can send it over the edge??

What birds did you and Skeeter find today?

Skeeter didn't come but she said she will next Saturday.

Well, it's fall migration time here so the Warblers are coming through. That's what the big hub-bub is about. We went out this morning as well. We've seen Redstarts, Nashvilles, Yellow-throated, Common Yellowthroat, Black-Throated greens, Magnolias, Black-and-Whites, Bay-Breasted, there was another, but I didn't see it, so it doesn't count ;)

Also saw pileated woodpeckers. It's always a good day when you see a pileated.

Lots more, but it's all about the warblers at the moment.

Thanks guys. Here's a summary story two days on if anyone is interested. Sadly, a lot of beautiful old historic buildings were lost, many of which I was intimately familiar with.

Open Original Shared Link

There have been dozens of aftershocks but none greater than 5.0, still ongoing, and the quake was on a fault whose existence was previously unknown, beneath alluvial plains, and was only 10 kms. deep. A lot of the areas that liquefied were built on fill, much like the Loma Prieta damage in San Francisco.

Be careful. They probably have a coating on them and/or are not actually glass. Was it actual Super glue brand?

Jooooodie, I've been able to get dried glue off a windowpane with a razor blade - - carefully picking at it until it came off in one piece. Might be trickier with a little area like a glasses lens, and you don't want to scratch the surface, but it sure worked on the window.. . .. ...

As revealed in Karen's link, cyanoacrylate adhesive will break down if exposed to acetone. It does not matter which brand of CA is involved--the chemistry is the same. If you don't have pure acetone, nail polish remover has acetone as the active ingredient.

Most plastics are unaffected by acetone, but if the lenses are coated, the coating could be affected.

Sorry I didn't see your post

I agree....think they are plastic but coated.

All i tried before writing was the spray to clean lens when I got the glasses and of course it didn't work

Glad to know all those adhesives have the same ingredients.

If black seed oil is working for his Afib, stick to it, but if not, I can say that ablation therapy is no big deal--my mother was out of the procedure in about 1 hour and went home that evening, and had zero negative effects from the treatment. PS - I would recommend that your husband get an Apple watch to monitor his Afib--there is an app and it will take readings 24/7 and give reports on how much of the time he's in it. Actual data like this should be what should guide his treatment.

This happened to me as well. What’s weirder is that within a couple hours of taking paxlovid it subsided. I thought maybe I got glutened but after reading your post not so sure.

Hi Tiffany. Thank you for writing your dituation and  circumstancesin such detail and so well writte, too. I particularly noticed what you wrote about brain for and feeling like your brain is swelling and I know from my own experiences that's how it feel and your brain really does swell and you get migraines.    Way back when I was in my 20s I read a book by 2 MD allergist and they described their patient who came in complaining that her brain, inside her cranium, was swelling  and it happened when she smelled a certain chemical she used in her home. She kept coming back and insisting her brain actually swelled in her head. The Drs couldn't explain this problem so they, with her permission, performed an operation where they made a small opening through her cranium, exposed her to the chemical then watched as she brain did swell into the opening. The DRs were amazed but then were able to advise her to avoid chemicals that made her brain swell. I remember that because I occasionally had brain fog then but it was not a serious problem. I also realized that I was becoming more sensitive to chemicals I used in my work in medical laboratories. By my mid forties the brain fog and chemicals forced me to leave my  profession and move to a rural area with little pollution. I did not have migraines. I was told a little later that I had a more porous blood brain barrier than other people. Chemicals in the air would go up into my sinused and leak through the blood brain barrier into my brain. We have 2 arteries  in our neck that carry blood with the nutrients and oxygen into the brain. To remove the fluids and used blood from the brain there are only capillaries and no large veins to carry it away so all those fluids ooze out much more slowly than they came in and since the small capillaries can't take care of extra fluid it results in swelling in the face, especially around the eyes. My blood flow into my brain is different from most other people as I have an arterial ischema, adefectiveartery on one side.   I have to go forward about 20 or more years when I learned that I had glaucoma, an eye problem that causes blindness and more years until I learned I had celiac disease.  The eye Dr described my glaucoma as a very slow loss of vision that I wouldn't  notice until had noticeable loss of sight.  I could have my eye pressure checked regularly or it would be best to have the cataracts removed from both eyes. I kept putting off the surgery then just overnight lost most of the vision in my left eye. I thought at the I had been exposed to some chemical and found out a little later the person who livedbehind me was using some chemicals to build kayaks in a shed behind my house. I did not realize the signifance  of this until I started having appointments with a Dr. in a new building. New buildings give me brain fog, loss of balance and other problems I know about this time I experienced visual disturbances very similar to those experienced by people with migraines. I looked further online and read that people with glaucoma can suffer rapid loss of sight if they have silent migraines (no headache). The remedy for migraines is to identify and avoid the triggers. I already know most of my triggers - aromatic chemicals, some cleaning materials, gasoline and exhaust and mold toxins. I am very careful about using cleaning agents using mostly borax and baking powder. Anything that has any fragrance or smell I avoid. There is one brand of dishwashing detergent that I can use and several brands of  scouring powder. I hope you find some of this helpful and useful. I have not seen any evidence that Celiac Disease is involved with migraines or glaucoma. Please come back if you have questions or if what I wrote doesn't make senseto you. We sometimes haveto learn by experience and finding out why we have some problems. Take care.       The report did not mention migraines.

Hi Jmartes71 That is so much like my story! You probably know where Laytonville is and that's where I was living just before my 60th birthday when the new Dr. suggested I could have Celiacs. I didn't go on a gluten challange diet before having the Celiac panel blood test drawn. The results came back as equivical as one antibody level was very high but another, tissue transaminasewas normal. Itdid show I was  allergic to cows milk and I think hot peppers. I immediately went gluten free but did not go in for an endoscopy. I found an online lab online that would do the test to show if I had a main celiac gene (enterolab.com). The report came back that I had inherited a main celiac gene, DQ8, from one parent and a D!6 from the other parent. That combination is knows to sym[tons of celiac worse than just inheriting one main celiac gene. With my version of celiac disease I was mostly constipated but after going gluten-free I would have diarrhea the few times I was glutened either by cross contamination or eating some food containing gluten. I have stayed gluten-free for almost 20 years now and knew within a few days that it was right for me although my recovery has been slow.   When I go to see a  medical provide and tell them I have celiacs they don't believe me. The same when I tell them that I carry a main celiac gene, the DQ8. It is only when I tell them that I get diarrhea after eating gluten that they realize that I might have celiac disease. Then they will order th Vitamin B12 and D3 that I need to monitor as my B12 levels can go down very fast if I'm not taking enough of it. Medical providers haven't been much help in my recovery. They are not well trained in this problem. I really hope this helps ypu. Take care.
