BE is gonna do full-on gluten-free for a week to see if it helps him sleep better. After seeing his sad little face this morning when he realized he couldn't put croutons on his salad I offered to make him some. I'll use Peter's basic recipe, with added cheese (requested), but does anyone have opinions on which store bought bread would be the best to start with?

DH loves the Energy brand of Brown Rice Bread. I can't handle it (or any bread right now) but to him it tastes the best out of all of the gluten-free breads I tried. BTW, isn't rectifying supposed to make you sleep better?

Hugs,

Loey laugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.gif

Gots me a new baby. His name is Mocha Darth Vader Harvey  Some of yous have seen his cheeky little mug. Not sure if I can get a pic loaded on here from work. He's the cutest little bunny EVAH!!! I'm so smitten with him it's funny. I've never been much of a pet person before and I had a Holland Lop when I was 20 and that was the most evil thing in the world!

Hope yuz'all had a great weekend. I got my birthday present a month early last night---Hub's sending me to HAWAII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to visit my besty before she moves back inland at the end of spring! I'm soooooooo excited! Never been on a vaca by myselph before!! :D:D:D

We saw a bad movie last night.

I tried to watch Inception the other night. Made it 30min before I had to turn it off. Too confusing and couldn't keep my attention. Soooooo, I watched Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants instead. Good movie :D

Have you seen Red?

We have that at the top of our queue with Catfish, which I REALLY wanna see (NO spoilers pleeeeease!!) but it doesn't come out till next month. So I'm forced to catch up on the 7th season of One Tree Hill ;)

BTW, isn't rectifying supposed to make you sleep better?

Hugs,

Loey

Our alarm clock went crazy this morning - instead of trying to suggest we get up, it tried to throw us out of bed

Then even after we was up (at 6:03 a.m., it kept trying to throw us ouf, even when I was in the hair salon at 11:10 a.m. and multiple times before and after that. I guess the Earthquake Commission will argue for weeks as to whether this was a new  earthquake (5.1) or an aftershock of the old one. This aftershock has had its own aftershocks  , some of which (although lesser in magnitude) were stronger in experience because of the proximitty and shallowness. The one at the salon was the scariest I have experienced but was only a 3.7 and threw stuff off the shelves and made cracks in the walls. The alarm clock (while it shook the bed pretty good) only succeeded in scaring the bejeezus out of the cat, but was a 5.1. These have been lots of 4's and high 3's all day, some of which I felt and some I didn't. They say we should expect to experience these every 4-6 weeks for a year :o Now remember, I didn't even go through the first one, and I am starting to get a big jangled. We had the assessors through here last week but that may not be the end of it

Oh well, keeps ya on yer toes!!!

We have about 8 inches of snow here. It isn't moving or shaking, just sort of sitting there. It's 11 F so its cold, too.

Today looks like the calm before the (next) storm--due tomorrow. It's nice to see the sun again....

FINALLY go to see new GI today. Clark called and told me to pick him up at work on the way (next town over) and he'll go with me. Will let you all know how it goes. Might not be until tomorrow as Tony has dentist appointment when I return.

3-6 here too....after 11PM. I lived here for 10 years before going away and coming back and I never remember a winter like this one!

Makes you kinda long for the Texa$$ sauna and the hurricanes, don't it? :P Me, I just wish someone would stop feeding the quarters into the vibrating bed. This is also the best ski season anyone can remember at Tahoe and the snow pack has double the normal moisture content so CA will have plenty of water this summer (or phlooding during the snowmeltl).

I want one!  All we get is swampy yards and flooding streets.

This is the strangest forward I've ever received (and that's saying a lot!)

I lived where you did my whole life and I also never saw a winter like this one. Took Tony to the dentist today and people were canceling appointments for tomorrow left and right. Glad I have no plans. Just going to turn on my fireplace and stay cozy.

Saw the new GI today and I REALLY like him. He spent and hour and twenty minutes with me. I was glad Clark was with me because I got a serious case of brain fog. I definitely have celiac but he thinks that instead of IBS it might be my back (I've had back problems my entire life). I asked him about disability and he told me it has t be initialed by my FP. Hopefully she'll be amenable to it, I do have to have a repeat colonoscopy and endoscopy but he'll do them at the same time. He's also going to do full blood work. So I still have a ways to go before I know my total diagnosis. My old GI here "said" they faxed my records but he never got them. He'll send for them on his end.

Keep warm my psillies!

Hugs,

Loey

P.S. they just increased our snow from 3-6 to 5-8

Ooooohhhhh!!!!!.........So YOU'RE to blame for this mess! <_<

2 hour delay today because it's too friggin cold for the kids to stand out at the bus stops. 2 degrees actual temperature at the moment....don't know what the windchill is. I'm sure in another hour it'll be way better

Ahhhhh . . . but come August, we'll be looking for a little cloud cover.

Two hour delay here also . . . huh, imagine that? . . . the good news was that we found out last night so we got to sleep in which was about an extra hour for me.

Glad you like you're new GI, LowEee. I certainly didn' appreciate the one we had until he moved away and I got stuck with an Arse of a doc.

Ours canceled this morning, so I got a call at 5:30 AM <_< I tried really hard, but couldn't get back to sleep.

Our kids are made of hardier stock. We don't get delays or cancellations as often as you do :P

Counting today, my kids have been to school 8 days this year. ( one of those days they got out 2 hours early). Wouldn't want to wear the teachers out!

2 of the 3 snow days, my boys have been a school to work on the robot. It's not like they couldn't get there!

We are supposed to get 1 inch today just to freshen things up. Then 5 inches on Sunday.

curlyfries Contributor

It's a miracle!

Patteigh.....did you send us the sunshine?

It's still only 2 degrees, though.

Patteigh.....did you send us the sunshine?

Special for you, Lisa :D

We ended up getting 4 inches.

Welcome to the forum, @Mmoc! Please include the reference ranges for the IGA and the TTG tests in your next post if you have access to them. We cannot comment much otherwise as different labs use different reference ranges for these tests and also different units of measurement. There are no universal standards as of yet so the raw test numbers are not always helpful. Having said that, if your IGA (what we usually call "total IGA") is low, the TTG-IGA score will be skewed and cannot be trusted. Other kinds of tests for celiac disease would need to be run, particularly those in the IGG family of tests. Perhaps this will be helpful:

Hi there any advice welcomed. I have had 4 years of symptoms ranging from immune related anaphylactic symptom sudden onset food allergy to peppers/paprika/chilli/capsicum family derivatives. all these allergies fizzled out and following a food challenge test in hospital I reintroduced them a few months ago. Since then my digestive system is a mess. i have since noticed that 4 years ago when testing for iga allergies my iga level was .62 and my ttg was less than .1 (due to symptoms I was probably eating very plainly at that time). should I insist on being retested for celiac? I’ve since read two indicators for celiac include: sensitive to spicy foods when in flare up tooth enamel weakness and symmetrical discolouration patches on teeth which I have had since childhood on my two front teeth     thanks

This article does not address migraines at all.  Yes, red wine and sulfites are often mentioned in connection with migraine triggers. With me, any kind of alcoholic beverage in very modest amounts will reliably produce a migraine. Nitrous oxide generators, which are vaso dialators, also will give me migraines reliably. So, I think most of my migraines are tied to fluctuations vascular tension and blood flow to the brain. That's why the sumatriptan works so well. It is a vaso constrictor.

Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.
