GREAT news!!!!! It was hemorrhoids (though I still don't like the doctor). Tony doesn't eat fruits or veggies (fruit does upset his stomach and he's allergic to some veggies but not all) so he's taking fiber tablets.

I am going out more. Rob and I went to the beach early and will be heading out soon for a mall (half hour away) so I can return something I bought in April at Michael's. They have a pretty good supply of beads and the necessary findings. I must have a bazillion already but I saw a beautiful necklace in Watch Hill (the wealthy section of Westerly) and My girlfriend took a photo of it so I need a certain kind of crystal to duplicate it.

As for the job interview - it went smashingly but it will be two weeks before he hers. Please keep praying.

Love to you all,

Loey wub.gifwub.gifwub.gifwub.gif

Going to the Ozarks for a few days. I think my experience will be a lot less Hillbilly than Rachelle's vacation.

. . . but it was great news.

Still keeping fingers and eyes crossed for Clark's job prospect.

Went for a hike yesterday, ~ 9 miles. Woke up this morning thinking of all the stuff I plan to do today. Then I got out of bed to make coffee.... Maybe I'll just watch movies today.... and drink...

Wow, I missed a lot of drama, amusement, and tragedy (ish). Just took me an hour to catch up. My family is so delightfully normal and boring. Except that my mother refuses to turn her cell phone on, but my parents don't have a landline in the current house, and so I can't call her back. Not that I specifically need to, but it's surprisingly irritating. Perhaps I shall write letters, as she sent me envelopes with stamps on them. Ah! passive agressive hint?

1. I think I would like to avoid in-laws, and am glad the move is over.

2. Am glad you survived the sketchy campgroup.

3. Avoiding babies is an excellent plan for college. Avoiding STDs = extra credit.

4. Crazy wildlife stories: would like to see foxes meet woodpecker.

5. Really, fanny means something located an another area of the anatomy?? Does everyone snigger at people named Fannie?

Considering roommating with a stranger. A guy, weirdly enough, with DH. Not that I object to living with a guy but typically have done some in a larger group (i.e. 3 bedrooms, 3 roommates) as opposed to a 2 bedroom. Hrmmm... 'twould be cheaper and a consideraly better commute to work. Neighborhood may or may not be equally "safe."

Caffiene at 3 pm stupid, and my alarm now goes off in... 5 hours. Perhaps some alcohol to combat the caffiene?

sb2178 Enthusiast

Phinally put a foto up!!

(Now have three hours until alarm... perhaps shall skip sleep entirely and take the bus...)

This place we are staying in the Ozarks is 1217 times better than the place Rachelle went. Also, we didn't bring any extra relatives or drunken ex- strippers with us.

It's been raining this morning and 74 F so that messed up jet skiing. Will try to do that later. The boys just liked sleeping in and having pancakes and playing some odd card game.

SB- thinking caffiene might be a big "No-No" for you. The room ate that understands and is gluten-free sounds great. The guy part might be weird.

Darn210 Enthusiast

You guys aren't going to believe this . . . we maintain a freakishly odd school schedule here . . . the kids go back to school tomorrow.

. . . but first, a trip to what I assume will be a horribly overcrowded pool this afternoon.

Jestgar Rising Star

That is weird. I'm not even done with summer quarter yet.

Dear gawd, this is an early start... . . .your kids are in school all of August? Wow......are the schools air-conditioned?

They must start their summer holidays in early June, then?

EXCITING! Sophie is packing for university. She is going to Ottawa U, but staying in residence. So, she will be a twenty-minute bus-ride away....perfect for Sunday dinners and weekly laundry jaunts <_<. Her dorm room is on the fifteenth floor of one of the res buildings.....the elevator only stops at even floors ( ), and we have a sizeable bar fridge, wardrobe and dresser to get up those two flights of stairs. Which strong, strapping Psillies will be in Ottawa Labour Day weekend? Manna, please extend a weekend invitation to your ILs. If they can lift junk into a truck, they'll be all set to lug furniture up a couple o' flights of stairs.

In the study linked above, the little girl switched to a gluten free diet and gained enough weight that that fat pad was replenished and surgery was not needed.   Here's the full article link... Hello, @Jordan Carlson, So glad you're feeling better.   Tecta is a proton pump inhibitor.  PPI's also interfere with the production of the intrinsic factor needed to absorb Vitamin B12.  Increasing the amount of B12 you supplement has helped overcome the lack of intrinsic factor needed to absorb B12. Proton pump inhibitors also reduce the production of digestive juices (stomach acids).  This results in foods not being digested thoroughly.  If foods are not digested sufficiently, the vitamins and other nutrients aren't released from the food, and the body cannot absorb them.  This sets up a vicious cycle. Acid reflux and Gerd are actually symptoms of producing too little stomach acid.  Insufficient stomach acid production is seen with Thiamine and Niacin deficiencies.  PPI's like Tecta also block the transporters that pull Thiamine into cells, preventing absorption of thiamine.  Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are difficulty swallowing, gagging, problems with food texture, dysphagia. Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are symptoms of ADHD and anxiety.  Vyvanse also blocks thiamine transporters contributing further to Thiamine deficiency.  Pristiq has been shown to work better if thiamine is supplemented at the same time because thiamine is needed to make serotonin.  Doctors don't recognize anxiety and depression and adult onset ADHD as early symptoms of Thiamine deficiency. Stomach acid is needed to digest Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in fruits and vegetables.  Ascorbic acid left undigested can cause intestinal upsets, anxiety, and heart palpitations.   Yes, a child can be born with nutritional deficiencies if the parents were deficient.  Parents who are thiamine deficient have offspring with fewer thiamine transporters on cell surfaces, making thiamine deficiency easier to develop in the children.  A person can struggle along for years with subclinical vitamin deficiencies.  Been here, done this.  Please consider supplementing with Thiamine in the form TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) which helps immensely with dysphagia and neurological symptoms like anxiety, depression, and ADHD symptoms.  Benfotiamine helps with improving intestinal health.  A B Complex and NeuroMag (a magnesium supplement), and Vitamin D are needed also.

@pothosqueen, Welcome to the tribe! You'll want to get checked for nutritional deficiencies and start on supplementation of B vitamins, especially Thiamine Vitamin B 1.   There's some scientific evidence that the fat pad that buffers the aorta which disappears in SMA is caused by deficiency in Thiamine.   In Thiamine deficiency, the body burns its stored fat as a source of fuel.  That fat pad between the aorta and digestive system gets used as fuel, too. Ask for an Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test to look for thiamine deficiency.  Correction of thiamine deficiency can help restore that fat pad.   Best wishes for your recovery!   Interesting Reading: Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome in a 6-Year-Old Girl with Final Diagnosis of Celiac Disease https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31089433/#:~:text=Affiliations,tissue and results in SMAS.

Wow! You're pretty young to have a diagnosis of SMA syndrome. But youth also has its advantages when it comes to healing, without a doubt. You might be surprised to find out how your health improves and how much better you feel once you eliminate gluten from your diet. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that, when gluten is consumed, triggers an attack on the villous lining of the small bowel. This is the section of the intestines where all our nutrition is absorbed. It is made up of billions of tiny finger-like projections that create a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients. For the person with celiac disease, unchecked gluten consumption generates inflammation that wears down these fingers and, over time, greatly reduces the nutrient absorbing efficiency of the small bowel lining. This can generate a whole host of other nutrient deficiency related medical problems. We also now know that the autoimmune reaction to gluten is not necessarily limited to the lining of the small bowel such that celiac disease can damage other body systems and organs such as the liver and the joints and cause neurological problems.  It can take around two years for the villous lining to completely heal but most people start feeling better well before then. It's also important to realize that celiac disease can cause intolerance to some other foods whose protein structures are similar to gluten. Chief among them are dairy and oats but also eggs, corn and soy. Just keep that in mind.
