Thought I would try to sneak out at 2:30, but I'm the only one here. Weirdest frickin' job I have ever had.

Sounds like the best job ever! No one to answer to, no one gives a crap! :P

wow, must pop back in more often. just spent a few weeks pre-GRE studying (kicked that baby over the moon) and haven't been around. like, not cleaning or playing on internet except for cookbook marketing around. have been physically present, relearning geometry (I know! knew it when I was 14.) Didn't even use it much on the exam either. got all the stats questions except for one which I just needed a little more time to get it. bah...

cute new chick pics. All the college kids doing well?

BTW, pb sandwiches without jelly? Isn't that bordering on cruel? At least let 'em have apple slices. Or dill pickles. Dill pickles + pb = excellent. English muffin pizzas are also a great solution to the will only eat pizza dilemna, too. For grown-ups, too...

Anybody get a new car ;-p?

This is SO true. Even when not pregnant. In fact, peanut butter goes with absolutely anything except mushrooms.

congrats on the GRE, both being done with it, and being happy about it. When do you apply?

I knew there was a reason I didn't like it  And with chocolate, especially, it is an abomination

No, but I'm in the market. Looking at a Ford Mondeo at the moment.

Mygawd, you have forgotten these top-of-the-listers:

Penis slings

Phart charting

Bad-ass Snow Poodles

Poo Chunks

Funny, but when the search is on for these words, only the Psillyville thread comes up. Wild......can you believe that?.. . . ...

Phart charts laugh.gif... Good times!

Poo Chunks ??? unsure.gif ..were they a band name?

Gads, trying to catch up ...but phlippin' 'eck!!! Raechelle has the patience of a saint!!!! wink.gif

Bloomin' interwebz keeps dying on me. Have nae the mental strength to ring the call centre (in Mumbai) blink.gif

********************************************************************

Somewhat stressful times here...

My Mum's had another stroke (she was in Spain on holiday vacation)

She & my Dad were finally allowed to fly home on Wednesday (with a nurse, thankfully they had decent travel insurance!)

Anyhoo, she's lost the sight in her left eye and is very confused and disorientated dry.gif

.....in other news Son of Psilly (AKA Alzy) hasn't been well .

Still not sure what's wrong, it's like he's had flu for 3/4 weeks. No energy, not eating properly.

Leg pain, and more worryingly massive swollen lymph node in his neck and stomach.

Waiting for varying tests (scans and biopsies of lumps in Oct) ...feels like I'm doing all the pushing at the docs. Been fobbed off with 2 rounds of antibiotics already for him rolleyes.gif

Ok, moan over - back to psilly!!

Toot sweet!!

curlyfries Contributor

Oh Nikki!!! So sorry to hear about Alzy! I knew he wasn't well, but geez! What is it about psilly sons? What blood tests has he had?

.....and yer mum....you've got a full plate, lady. Don't forget to take care of yerself.

Wow! That's rough and very unpsilly! Poor thing.

I suppose they tested Alzy for mono. Sounds just like my neice's mono. Went on & on. Swollen glands, sore joints, sooo tired. Hope they figure something out soon.

Jeepers, Nik, take care of yourself while you're taking care of everyone else  Hope they get Alzy figured out soon, and that your mom makes some improvement.

Deadlines are all in the Dec 15 to Jan 15 range. Still struggling a bit to figure out where I would fit well with faculty interests and the oh-too-rare funding for more social-based, non-molecular nutrition. There's not really a perfect solution, and the most enthusiastic prof I met in out West, but it'll be a serious move to leave the east coast.

Great sympathy for a mono sufferer... not fun at all.

Gnick! :(  So sorry to hear about your sick li'l family -- hugs to you, Al and yer mum. Man, I've been there with a stroke-stricken mother.......'tis tough.

Well, if only I'd known about these family concerns yesterday, Gnick -- Prime Minister Cameron was hanging around in Ottawa for the day, had dinner at the Governor General's residence and gave a couple of addresses.... ....I could have plowed into the scrum, grabbed a mic and demanded that he look into your mom's and Alzy's situations.... . ..... . .

Hugs to all who need (or would just like) them.

Went for a hike at Hurricane ridge, a bit wiped. Some pics on da book.

Having Aplle Cider and sweet potato chips for dinner. Have planed a R/Udi's cinnamon raisin toast test taste for brekky.

This was in the National PARK, not forest. They have potties, well marked trails, helpful rangers discussing your hiking route and asking about mountain goats (a wild goat killed a guy last year, so they want to know if you saw any). Of course I don't see anyone until after my hike, 'cause I start early before anything opens. I was the third car in the lot, and at least one was the maintenance guy opening the building. Lots of folks on the trail on the way back though.

Funny how a long walk in the sun and wind (serious winds at the top, hence the name Hurricane Ridge) can turn your brain to mush. Also pretty high, so maybe some oxygen deprivation too.

GKnick!! Sorry to hear about all the troubles over thar!! I must admit that my first thought on Al-Zee was mono but I would have thought they would have tested for that. Hugs and warm thoughts being hurtled your way.

Check your multivitamin to see if it contains Thiamine Mononitrate, which is a "shelf-stable" form of thiamine that doesn't break down with exposure to light, heat, and time sitting on a shelf waiting to be sold.  Our bodies have difficulty absorbing and utilizing it.  Only 30% is absorbed and less can be utilized.   There's some question as to how well multivitamins dissolve in the digestive tract.  You can test this at home.  YouTube has instructional videos.   Talk to your nutritionist about adding a B Complex.  The B vitamins are water soluble, so any excess is easily excreted if not needed.  Consider adding additional Thiamine in the forms Benfotiamine or TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) or thiamine hydrochloride.   Thiamine is needed to help control electrolytes.  Without sufficient thiamine, the kidneys loose electrolytes easily resulting in low sodium and chloride.   We need extra thiamine when we're emotionally stressed, physically ill, and when we exercise regularly, are an athlete, or do physical labor outdoors, and in hot weather.  Your return to activities and athletics may have depleted your thiamine and other B vitamins to a point symptoms are appearing.   The deficiency symptoms of B vitamins overlap, and can be pretty vague, or easily written off as due to something else like being tired after a busy day.  The symptoms you listed are the same as early B vitamin deficiency symptoms, especially Thiamine.  Thiamine deficiency symptoms can appear in as little as three days.  I recognize the symptoms as those I had when I was deficient.  It can get much worse. "My symptoms are as follows: Dizziness, lightheaded, headaches (mostly sinus), jaw/neck pain, severe tinnitus, joint stiffness, fatigue, irregular heart rate, post exercise muscle fatigue and soreness, brain fog, insomnia.  Generally feeling unwell." I took a B 50 Complex twice a day and extra thiamine in the forms Benfotiamine and TTFD.  I currently take the Ex Plus supplement used in this study which shows B vitamins, especially Thiamine B 1, Riboflavin B2, Pyridoxine B 6, and B12 Cobalamine are very helpful.   A functional evaluation of anti-fatigue and exercise performance improvement following vitamin B complex supplementation in healthy humans, a randomized double-blind trial https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10542023/

I am taking a multivitamin which is pretty bolstered with B’s.  Additional Calcium, D3, Magnesium, Vit C, and Ubiquinol.  Started Creapure creatine monohydrate in June for athletic recovery and brain fog.  I have been working with a Nutritionist along side my Dr. since February.  My TTG IGA levels in January were 52.8 and my DGP IGA was >250 (I don’t know the exact number since it was so high).  All my other labs were normal except Sodium and Chloride which were low.  I have more labs coming up in Dec.  I make my own bread, and don’t eat a lot of processed gluten-free snacks.
    • knitty kitty
@Scatterbrain, What supplements are you taking? I agree that the problem may be nutritional deficiencies.  It's worth talking to a dietician or nutritionist about.   Did you get a Marsh score at your diagnosis?  Was your tTg IgA level very high?  These can indicate more intestinal damage and poorer absorption of nutrients.   Are you eating processed gluten free food stuffs?  Have you looked into the Autoimmune Protocol Diet?
    • knitty kitty
Vitamin and mineral deficiencies can make TMJ worse.  Vitamins like B12 , Thiamine B1, and Pyridoxine B6 help relieve pain.  Half of the patients in one study were deficient in these three vitamins in one study below. Malabsorption of vitamins and minerals is common in celiac disease.  It's important to eat healthy nutrient dense diets like the Autoimmune Protocol Diet, a Paleo diet that has similarities to the Mediterranean diet mentioned in one of the studies.   Is there a link between diet and painful temporomandibular disorders? A cross-sectional study https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12442269/   Nutritional Strategies for Chronic Craniofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders: Current Clinical and Preclinical Insights https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11397166/   Serum nutrient deficiencies in the patient with complex temporomandibular joint problems https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2446412/
    • Iam
Yes.  I have had the tmj condition for 40 years. My only help was strictly following celiac and also eliminating soy.  Numerous dental visits and several professionally made bite plates  did very little to help with symptoms
