You play flute? So do I! I hadn't played much in the last year but recently got back into it. I was out of practice and had to put one of the corks back in because my pinky wasn't covering the hole. I have an Emerson that I brought in first year university that I saved up for sooooo long to buy and I cried pretty much the rest of the day for spending so much money. It was worth it though; playing flute (or any instrument) is a great hobby. I can't worry about other things when I'm playing flute -- it's a good escape. Okay, that's enough boring flute talk. Sorry!
Great! I'll hide behind you in our little parade! You play, I'll pretend to, and everyone will think we're in perfect tune!

I played in HS, but quit by college. I picked it up again a few years ago after not playing for 23 years! Right now I only play at Church since I play very badly with these braces. But, prior to braces, when I was living in Indiana, I played in a quintet, a community band, and at Church. I miss the music in Indiana.

I have a silver Yamaha, open hole, b-foot, all that ... hubby bought it for me to replace my old Gemeinhardt I had in HS. I love it! I also have a wooden Irish flute I'm learning. It was frustrating learning the open holes ... but I did it :)

Flutes in perfect tune -- nobody would believe that!

Yeah, learning to play with open holes was a bugger but it definitely improved my hand position. The only thing that kept me from throwing my flute at the wall was the fact that I paid so much for. I wish I could find a concert band to play in. I miss high school band. Good times! I didn't march though, just concert style.

Nope, herx not fading .... just starting in fact.

Rats! :(

~alex~? No Community Band? Even Hooterville had one . .. . . . :(

okay....NOT herxing here.....have NO idea what any of this means....

QB1!! "same disorder as the man before"

And another!! "Because you are my friends."

Question:

Are people misspelling 'baring?'

Hey! A little "lookin' out for #1" eh? Sounds like evidence of a fading herx.

Is it the ennui?

And what other words can be pronounced by simply saying the names of letters quickly? N U E

(One syllable too easy, aye? I? Eye?)

All I was sayin' is - if we have a machine-gun toting vehicle in the parade, THAT's where I wanna be!

It's not like any other current regular was once a little boy playing Army!!

Pull a Costanza on the discarded Nutella?

No no no . .. . I think the ppl each line is directed to know what each means.

Ever done a winter vacation into some brain-baking environment? Loreto or Pichilingue are driveable but it brings up the dingos' passport status.

OK, I DID wonder about the doozy of a jump from a non-existant QE2 reference to our own QB1. Queen Bev the 1st?

Alex!! HERE IS YOUR CONCERT BAND!!

Superb! What a Parade this is beginning to sound like...we've got Alex and Carla on flute, (Alex, you can march and play simultaneously, c'mon!) , Lord Tom rounding off the brass section with his sax, and then perhaps strumming a bit (just bring the guitar, too)...I can sing, so I'll need to be mic'd (or maybe not...you should probably hear me sing first). But there is something missing...

Ack! What kind of Royal Parade does not have a booming kettle drum?! Anyone?

jerseyangel Proficient

Wow--ya'll were busy last night while I watched Dancing With the Stars :P

Parades, herxes, Tostidos, Tom's foot placement in the bathroom stall, flutes--no way I can keep up given my still fogged-from-Sunday pea brain.

Can I just ride somewhere on the cushy Care Bear float and wave a'la Queen Elizabeth? I'll bring killer gluten-free banana bread and Redbridge......

...wait...you don't react to yeti meat?

...Altoids to the men?...Hmmmm, what a concept.

This is freaking me out! Am I imagining memories? I used to read thru cdkitchen.com a lot and I swear I saw a Yeti w/ Mint&Altoid Pesto recipe a while ago.

It sounded muy delicioso (que sabor!) but I had NO idea where to find YETI!!

As long I go w/ an extra-lean cut, I see no reason I can't have it.

Especially if we played piccolos!

Google community band and your area ... and the surrounding towns, I'm sure there's something.

I played in both. I only played picc in marching band and typically got the picc parts in concert band .... my old HS band director retired a couple years ago. We got together an alumni band and surprised him by marching in the local parade (he was the grand marshall). There were two piccs ... both of us graduated the same year, and believe it or not, we could still play in tune together! He didn't allow more than one piccolo in marching band after we graduated. I had forgotten how hard it was to march and play.

Tom, apparently we're moving you to the brass section. ;)

I'll take melody, Alex gets high harmony ... I can't play the high notes right now.

:lol::lol::lol:

We're not gonna cook up the Yeti, Tom...he's in the parade, waving and roaring menacingly, to add some drama. You are safe back there with him because cross-contamination could possibly happen (If, say, you licked him). Now, enough about yeti meat...yeti fur could be an issue for those with animal hair/dander allergies. Affected people should bring their inhalers just in case.

why of COURSE you can ride on teh cushy Care Bear float!!! And wave your hand regally, tossing carefully-wrapped (in plastic) slices of warmed (w/ butter) banana bread to all (okay most) of the minions.

I want to join in the parade too...any room for me?

Amanda! You'll be waving the Care Bear flags!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

been there, very cool

the castle looks GORGEOUS! note the glossy hardwood floors.......*sigh*.....I DREAM of replacing this dingo-trampled carpet w/ pergo.....alas, don't have $4000 handy just now..... (reminds me, must rent shampooer YET AGAIN in another futile attempt to clean things....oh and THEN you'll be hearing about my aching back...... you know - - some of those carpet areas have to be gone over SIX TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! )

MANGO!!!!!

I have seen you reading occasionally, are we just too demented for you to join us????

and Dancing w/ the Stars....I was not surprised that Newton was voted off....but thought the millionaire would go - he kinda bugs me. Though I'm not paying all that much attention.....I think one of the gals will win this year. Eh, Patti?

OMG I was about to suggest a Flag Corps earlier!!

Darn this slow page-load on a phone and my need to install a new car battery!!

Nikki's aNOTHer potential flautist? I know we could use some drums and I think I have a line on a snare & some timbales - in marching config w/ straps of course.

Any takers?

Dingy! What's your role in this procession? Might the dingos have heretofore-untapped sled-dog skills? Pulling the snack cart could be useful. . .. .. . No!!! Make it a Mojito Bar!!!

Emily,

I later realized I probably can't try that Yeti w/ Mint&Altoid Pesto recipe after all. Probably corn syrup or something else in the Altoids. :( Shucks!! (My new derisive exclamatory for all corn-related situations, Janet  )

The rooms are actually very small. and I'm pretty sure dingo prints would show on the glossy floors.

$4000!!! Can you do one room at a time?

Carpet is easy to rip out yourself, and even my parents managed to put their pergo floor in themselves.

:o Thought about this option. The thing is, it involves meh...mmeh....measuring and cutting things to fit - you don't EVER want me doing that. I am sure I could enlist some help but dang, the thought of ripping out and getting rid of carpet is just beyond egregious and repugnant and really just WAY too taxing......

here's something.

Female Comebacks

Man: Haven't I seen you someplace before?

Woman: Yes, thats why I don't go there anymore.

Man: Is this seat empty?

Woman: Yes and this one will be if you sit down.

Man: Your place or mine?

Woman: Both. You go to yours, and I'll go to mine.

Man: So, what do you do for a living?

Woman: I'm a female impersonator.

Man: Hey baby, what's your sign?

Woman: Do not enter.

Man: How do you like your eggs in the morning?

Woman: Unfertilized

Man: Your body is like a temple.

Woman: Sorry, there are no services today.

Man: I would go to the end of the world for you.

Woman: But would you stay there?

Man: If I could see you naked, I'd die happy.

Woman: If I saw you naked, I'd probably die laughing.

Cool! I used to twirl a mean batton about 100 years ago  We can march together (till I conk out, then I return to my cushy seat in the Care Bear Float) ;)

Yep--I think it definately going to be a woman. My guess was that last night, it would either be Wayne or Mark (the millionaire) voted off. The rest are really very good.

Carpet is easy to rip out yourself, and even my parents managed to put their pergo floor in themselves.

Former neighbors of mine did Pergo themselves--and did a great job.

the thought of ripping out and getting rid of carpet is just beyond egregious and repugnant and really just WAY too taxing......

The secret to ripping up carpet is to do it in 3-4 foot strips. It's so much more manageable that way ;)

Using anti-inflammatories for symptom management after inadvertent gluten exposure can be a helpful short-term strategy, particularly for reducing discomfort like inflammation, pain, or swelling. However, it shouldn’t replace strict adherence to a gluten-free diet as the primary treatment for conditions like celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. While NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen) or natural anti-inflammatories (e.g., turmeric) may provide relief, they don’t address the underlying immune response or intestinal damage caused by gluten. Additionally, long-term or frequent use of NSAIDs carries risks, such as gastrointestinal irritation. It’s best to consult a healthcare provider to tailor an individualized plan, which may include digestive enzymes, hydration, rest, and probiotics alongside anti-inflammatories when needed. There is a predictive model for children on this link. Depends on sex, HLA genes and number of affected close relatives.  The model only goes up to age 12 so it would be interesting to know what the lifetime risk is. https://hputter.shinyapps.io/preventcd/
    • thejayland10
That is a very good point I do not know if they truly ever went down. With my nutrient levels all being good, CBC, metabolic panel I assumed everything was fine over the years. Now Im worried this is refractory celiac or something else
    • RMJ
I don’t know how common it is, but it happens.  Total IgA going up is not necessarily celiac related.  The body can make IgA antibodies against all sort of things.   But if I understand correctly that until recently you haven’t had a celiac blood test since diagnosis, how do you know that your recent blood tests are a mild rise, vs never going down to the normal range? That also can happen, although not too common. Some people with celiac disease do react even to purity protocol certified gluten free oats. Removing oats from your diet for a few months and retesting is probably a good idea.
    • thejayland10
interesting I did not know that was that common or could take that long.  When I was diagnosed 15 yrs ago I was told just follow gluten-free diet and follow up with primary care doctor (who never checked celiac panel again). I felt way better and all the major symptoms went away. It wasn't until recently at 25 (14 yrs after diagnosis) that I thought to follow up with a gastro doctor who then did a celiac panel and noted those minor elevations 3 months ago then I got them checked again by another doctor the other week and were showing roughly the same thing.  I am very strict with what I eat and dieitican was maybe thinking it could be oat flour. I do eat a fair amount of processed food but I will not touch anything unless it is certified gluten free.  Do you see this pretty commonly with others? Having mild rises in TTG IGA and IGA who have been on gluten-free diet for years?
