Bunnie--I was gonna suggest stroganoff, too. That would be really good. Sour cream, or 0% Fage yogurt, which tastes like sour cream ;)

Yep--I've taken steroids and I always felt better on them. My husband got hyper recently on them after a dental procedure and swears he will never take then again :P

Oh! Oh! Oh! I almost forgot! My sweet hunk of a boyfriend decided to get me treats for my birthday (April 30) And went to this gluten free bakery a town over and ordered me a heart shaped chocolate cake, got muffins, three cupcakes, and a brownie. All I asked for was a cupcake!!! But the lady who started this bakery went to school to be a dessert artist before she found out she had Celiac and decided to pursue her dream gluten free anyway. OH. MY. GOD. These are the best cupcakes and cake I've ever had ever period, screw gluten free. We gave my brother in law a (small) piece of cake and he came back up the stairs a few minutes later with chocolate all over his hands and face going "That was gluten free?!?!" Oh, my lord. Sugar heaven. And she's completely dairy free too, can't even tell. Creamiest frosting on the planet.

POeter is again mentioning his great, big deck.. . . ...

Gahhh!!! Tooooo funny

Well, Psills, my first day as drama queen was quite eventful.

On my way to the inauguration I not only locked myself out of the house a-gain, but locked my keys (and purse, and cell phone, and COFFEE :o ) in my car. What an idiot inconvenience.

Then, after the festivities and ball and "Llammas On Ice", I was subjected to the most tortuous thing e'er invented (ready?)--

a trans-v/nal ultrasound

Any of you ever had one of those?

Has never come across POeter's great, big deck before... maybe I never will.. :o

Ok, could someone please get over here and restrain me? I'm still on steroids from the rash I had (turned out to be sumac,

Oh, and the really special part? To get me gluten free prednisone they had to give me one milligram pills. I had to take FORTY pills for FOUR days. Thankfully they're very little. Then thirty pills for four days..... Oy.

Get off those 'roids, bunnie! They will turn you into a raving maniac, or a eunuch?? And forty a day for four days?? My God woman... you'll never be able to take them things again. I got totally allergic to them from poison oak infestations (brought in by me kittersers.) Besides, you won't be able to compete in the Tour de France or the Olympics! What in? I dunno...I'm sure there's something you can do real well at! Does they have a cookin' Olympics? Any other ideas?

Almost phorgot! :oAww Hellll to the new Kween Minimome Hope your rain supreme! I see you are already aware of the offishul kourt gesture :lol:

I curtsy to our new Queen in best British (stiffly formal) colonial (much more irreverent) manner. "The Queen is dead; Long Live The Queen" May she reign justly and with wisdom, and an enhanced sense of psillly!

Goooood Morning, Psillies!

Was in visiting my dad last night, and while I sat chatting with him, a nurse came in and said they were going to move him downstairs for a CT scan AND an ultrasound.

Hey all! Nother gllooommy day...but at least the rain has stopped for a couple of few hours.

Psuess....in order to age gracefully (at least without screaming and tearing out the hair) is to look for the advantages. There are many! While I have never been "beautiful", I realize at this time in my life that I never will be, and don't have to be concerned about it anymore. I don't have to care. If someone has a problem with my looks, it's their problem and not mine! :D Therefore, I have no difficulty with going to the store *fresh* from the garden complete with dirt under my nails and dirt stains on my jeans. If my hair is not perfect...no sweat...I love to wear caps! I save lots of money by not wearing makeup and perfumes. I don't have to impress anyone, I just have to be happy with who I am. I don't have to take (too much) crap from anyone, I have enough crap of my own.

Anyone who is a real and genuinely decent person will see beyond the exterior to the real, wonderful person you are inside. Those are the people who are my friends and who I want to surround me in my (all too short) life. These people can deal with, and even love, my odd quirks, sometimes strange moods, and the whole range of things that make me individual.

Wishing I could help you to find acceptance and peace within *your* world. 'Tis a lovely world we live in once you get past the crud that other people toss around in it :D

Minimomi...Love the Av! You're a great new neighbor to have in Psillyville!

Hmmmmmm......trans V/invasion.....never want to try that particular joy-ride! The yearly humiliation is bad enough!!!

Glad to hear that Manda-panda is all right! Hope she comes to the surface soon and avoids drowning!

Well......back to the housework. Hoping to play outside soon and stay dry at the same time.

Hey Jude.....hope your hanging in there all right!

flourgirl Apprentice

Hey Bunnyrabbitt! I was on steroids just once. Doc thought it would help tendonitis (I was having problems with lots of inflammation in lots of places :( ) I had a severe allergic reaction and thought I was literally going to die! Probably wasn't smart, but I stopped cold and tossed them all. They are so nasty, I would tell anyone to be cautious, and only to consider them a last alternative. I guess many people take them safely...hope they are helping you. Take care!

Thank you @cristiana.  Its really helpful to hear your experience, thanks for sharing.  8 years is a long time!  And its also good to know that others have experienced worsening before it gets better.  I've just started doing the food diary recently, and I'll keep that going. It's at least helping me try to get a handle on this, and also helps increase my overall awareness of what I'm putting in my body. I will also message my GI doc in the meantime too.  Thanks, it's really helpful to talk through this.
    • trents
Yes, the development of additional food intolerances is a common spinoff of celiac disease. To ensure valid testing after beginning a "gluten challenge" you would need to be consuming at least 10g of gluten daily (about the amount in 4-6 slices of wheat bread) for at least two weeks. Many cannot follow through with this regimen, however, as their intolerance reactions are just too strong and present too much health risk.
    • junell
I've been gluten free for 5 years, as well as being intolerant to gluten, my list of intolerances is growing.. from dairy, eggs, soya, yeast, to mushroom, garlic, onion, spinach and quite a few in-between, basically my diet is gluten-free cornflakes, rice, banana, almond milk and fish anything else causes bloating, severe abdominal pain, mucousy diarrhoea, lethargy, muscle and joint pain, kidney pain, headaches, and mouth ulcers. I've been told it's IBS, I think it's more than that... I've been sent to a gastroenterologist who tested for coeliac, if course it came back negative because, as I told him, I haven't eaten gluten for 5 years, he's asked me to eat gluten for 4 weeks and redo the blood test, so I've tried small amounts of crispbread for 3 days and am in agony, I can't do this for 4 weeks and then however long it'll take to recover. Has anyone got any suggestions, and is multiple food intolerances a common side effect of coeliac? I'm struggling! And struggling to be taken seriously 😒

I think going back to your GI isn't a bad idea - my visits to the GI did not stop following my diagnosis as I had annoying issues on and off for some time.  Thankfully he is a fantastic GI, with  a great sense of humour, so it wasn't a chore to see him again although I'd rather not have had to, obviously!  But I needed my mind to be put at rest as my symptoms didn't seem to go away overnight as I'd hoped they would.  Initially I recall he recommended I went Dairy Free for three weeks, and he told me it would take that time to see an effect.  At that time, even lactose free milk went straight through me, so it is important, I would say, to even avoid that during a Dairy Free trial. My ongoing symptoms were bloating which did respond a bit to that trial.   However, within about 18 months there was a return to a very sore stomach, plus various aches and pains.   It turned out some gluten was sneaking in with my iron supplement (I was buying Floradix instead of Floravital), but I also think the dishwasher, the oven and eating out were contributors, too. Before my numbers normalised (from memory, about eight years!) I had several follow up appointments and a few more tests, but things gradually did get better.  Having read many accounts on this forum over the years, I don't think it is uncommon for symptoms to get a bit worse before getting better, that was certainly the case with me.  Your gut is damaged so you may well have issues digesting other food in the short term. But do try to be as scrupulously gluten free as you can possibly be as a first step, and I'd definitely try a three week Dairy Free trial.   Your villi because they are damaged are not able to create the lactase required to digest dairy at this time so you may well see some improvement if you come off dairy for a while.  Perhaps keeping a food diary of what you eat, where you eat it, whilst a bit onerous to do, will help identify foods that are causing issues.  For a while, apart from oats, I found peas, lentils and soya products hugely aggravating.  Things should calm down.
    • Rejoicephd
Thankfully those are normal. B12 was on the low end of the normal range when I first got diagnosed. When I last got it checked, it had come up a lot (455 last time checked).
