I have to give you all my recipe for easy frozen pina coladas:

2-12 oz cans frozen lemonade

1-15 oz can coco lopez pure cream of coconut

1-48 oz can 100% pineapple juice

3 cups bacardi light rum

7-up

Mix all ingredients except 7-up in a freezer safe pastic container with lid (leave room in top for vapors--don't overfill). Freeze over night. When ready to serve, scoop out pina colada mix and add small amount of 7-up to achieve desired consistency.

Yum!!!

Whew! Youse guys have been busy since I was last here....which was this morning and didn't have time to get very far. Not much to report on this end....worked all day...and actually had a great day...too busy not to :P I LOVE working outside!!!! 'Specially in the summer. No drunken postings, no squirrel sightings, no job quitting....I'm pretty boring these days!

Sunny has been re-named to miss Peaches by telehubby. Her middle name is NCream! Not only does she not like to walk on grass (and is content to stay in the house)....she won't walk on the bath rugs either! So funny. She is learning quickly about "be gentle" and "NO!!" (this one scares her pretty well!)

Em...prayers for you Dad! Be sure to give him a Psilly-hug from us!!!

Mini-mom....Hope things work out well for you! We spend about $100 per week for groceries. Lots of fruits and veggies....soups and stews....meats only on sale.....Very Few specifically gluten-free items (except flours)... No pre-made, pre-packaged stuff (well, almost no..telehubby still likes a few things now and then).

Would love, love, love to have a Psilly-summit!!! Can't promise that I can....until we get closer to setting dates etc.

Soooo...b-d b-d b-d that's all pholks! Mite, everyone! :P

Flying octopii are a normal function of daily life during hockey season in Detroit. Some years ago some idiots got the great idea to throw dead octopiii on the ice during the Red Wings games, and it took like flies to sh..it. Now everybody walks around with octopii hats and the seafood stores sell out. :blink:

Your meandering discourse through last evening reminded me of the classic Flowers for Algernon. If you have not read it, you've missed a poignant masterpiece, and it is well worth it. It is a fantasy story - - the printed diary of a young man who is very mentally challenged (Down's syndrome, perhaps). His writing is exactly like the 11 pm rantings of Jyess and Rayechull.

A scientist begins to study him, and administers a new neurological drug that may "cure" mental retardation. Incredible what happens as one reads along - -the changes that slowly begin to occur with his discourse.

Looks like 'twas a kwiet nite here last night....could it be because it's followed by Mon. morning?

Hi T, I'm up too. Lyle still has his bad foot, but I gave him a bit of baby aspirin and it's helped a bit. Raccoons at the hen cage early in the morning. Couldn't get in, but I still kept running out to make sure. Having coffee and bemoaning the very early start to my day (2am).

      It's great to hear that the trip went well, and the general consensus I hear about gluten-free travel in Europe, including my own experiences, is that it is much easier done in comparison to traveling and eating gluten-free in the USA.

Our tour leader was very good at making sure the 2 of us with gluten issues on our tour were well taken care of. We often got our meals before the rest of the group and adaptations to the menu for us were well thought out and very tasty...

      Lymphocytic Colitis with Celiac

      I am 73 years old and was diagnosed with Celiac disease, and started the gluten free diet 4 years ago. This past spring, I experienced sudden onset diarrhea, which was persistent for several weeks, before I had a colonoscopy. I was told my colon looked normal, but the biopsy showed microscopic lymphocytic colitis. I was asked at that time if I was still...

      Yasso frozen yogurt bars - be careful

      Thanks for sharing this! Talk about frustrating! It is complicated enough to try to keep track of which products are safe, but the concept of the same product sold at 2 different stores--one that is certified gluten-free and one that isn't--that is exactly why having celiac disease is still so difficult, and it is so easy to make mistakes!

I just wish restaurants here in the USA took as much pride in making food that everyone can enjoy. Many of the hotels and pubs we ate at had numerous options that were safe for us with wheat/gluten restrictions to eat.

      I am 73 years old and was diagnosed with Celiac disease, and started the gluten free diet 4 years ago.  This past spring,  I experienced sudden onset diarrhea, which was persistent for several weeks, before I had a colonoscopy.  I was told my colon looked normal, but the biopsy showed microscopic lymphocytic colitis.  I was asked at that time if I was still experiencing the diarrhea, and when I said yes, I was prescribed an 8 week course of Budesonide, which included the weaning off phase.  Budesonide is a steroid, but it is allegedly specific for the bowel, and has very few systemic side effects.  I must say, I experienced no side effects, except a couple little spots of persistent psoriasis went away.  I have one week of treatment left, and other than one loose stool very early in treatment, I have had no further bowel issues.  I was told that 80 percent of people go into an extensive, or even permanent, remission after taking Budesonide.  During the colonoscopy, two polyps were removed, and one was precancerous.  I know that colon cancer risks are higher in people with Celiac disease, so it was recommended that I have another coloscopy in five years.      Like your husband, I probably had untreated Celiac disease for years.  It makes one wonder if the chronic irritation and inflammation could lead to the development of microscopic lymphocytic colitis.  This disease is usually diagnosed in people over 50 years old, and occurs approximately in one out of every 1,000 people.        Incidentally, If your husband is prescribed Budesonide, it can be purchased significantly cheaper by using GoodRX.
