Whoa!!!.....Something really WEIRD going on here....big changes...BIG CHANGES....

WTH??! Please tell me I'm not the only one constantly getting Richard's initial post from almost 400 pages ago, and an inability to go back a page, and a long list of "posts from this thread", and ALL KINDS OF WEIRD CHANGES! ...Is this a Thanksgiving trick? AAh! Scott's tricking the Commonwealthers! :o

OMG Nicola - been meaning to comment on that SCARY and fierce creature in your av - WTH is that? it's not what you're eating for, er, for American Thanksgiving is is? ;)

Tis a real mole (NOT a cartoon one like Beverly's ;) )

:P Good to know. Are centre, theatre and the like allowable? Having spelled those words the commonwhealth way my entire life I still find them kind of weird.

This was actually discussed some pages back and it was felt that the use of RE instead of ER gave the thread a touch of class, a certain 'Je ne sais quoi' ;)

and could someone PLEASE tell me why in theee hell everyone makes a green bean casserole? that disgusting kind w/ the....canned green beans, cream-of-something soup and the crap on top? what is that, dehydrated ersatz canned onions?

Ughhhh!!! Yuck - I don't like it!! :o

oh and while we're speaking of tradition.......why the marshmallows in teh canned yams? (I would hurl upon taste of that item - those yams actually do taste like vomit, I think)

I repeat - I don't like it!!! :o

...BUT..We also have the cranberry sauce with Turkey....I don't mind that - the mearest amount.

Whoa!!!.....Something really WEIRD going on here....big changes...BIG CHANGES....

PANIC STATIONS!!!!!!!

Have you tried the old trick of clicking the 'Options' tab (top right hand corner) then clicking on 'Standard'

or maybe it was a Thansgiving trick just for you

HAPPY THANKGIVING to all you peeps (Green emoticon for Sarah please) :D .....eat up now - you're going to need your energies for tomorrow's wrestling shopping at the dreaded Mall of Doom

Hi Nikki--

I won't be anywhere NEAR a mall tomorrow. ;) I'll be busy painting my living room....

Green bean casserole--ugh....always made me sick (wonder why  )....canned sweet potatoes--why????? I made the most delicious sweet potatoes: cut up fresh ones, cooked, drained, drizzled with pure maple syrup, a little Smart Balance, sea salt and cinnamon. Now THERE"S a sweet potato! :P

We do a fresh cranberry-orange relish. Just fresh cranberries and 2 oranges put through the Cusinart with some sugar--let it sit overnight in the fridge to let all the juices "marry"--yum :P

Sarah--gawd....hope the pukies leave your house soon! Good luck with the cooking and pies, and hopefully by tomorrow, ya'll will feel more like eating. :)

Thank you, Nikki! This unexplainable switch from "standard" to "linear" in my controls has made me realize how much this thread has taken over my emotional life. All morning, as I taught, I kept thinking, "Mygawd....what if this is now the way I'll have to be communicating with my Silly brethren?" Anyways, all fixed. Again, Thanks, Nikki...

So, Gus has been shaking his head a lot...took him to the dreaded, cha-ching vet, and...now, Tom, be aware, if you were planning on stopping by my place in Ottawa, you cannot right now....Gus has YEAST in his ears. Gawd. Where can yeast NOT grow?! Ah! Tom, it's yeti you're allergic to. So, c'mon by!

Forgot to mention while on the subject of Gus and his infected ear, that I have a very serious warning to put out to all of you hovering around the 1000 post mark: Be ready. The rumours are true...bodily fluids on a large scale will enter your life (I haven't been able to determine what decides which kind of fluid), but whichever one it is, it is heinously horrid. At the vet's, the technician, who must have a knack for these things, managed to unleash the most gunk and earwax I've ever seen come out of an ear. Be afraid...

What a LOVELY topic as you all enjoy your Thanksgiving meal!:rolleyes:

I can't believe you somehow managed to acquire earwax. That has to be a bodily fluids coup.

OMG that is disgusting..........but please note, Em, that I did learn on freerice.com (thank you Jess) that the correct term for ear wax is CERUMEN.

Our poor yeti....what became of him, on that transatlantic flight? Perhaps he resembles Mr. Bin Laden more than we cared to believe...awesome height, staggering facial hair, speaking no English....I don't believe I've ever seen an insane look in our yeti's eyes, however. A feral kind of wild look, perhaps, but not lunatic.

Is our poor beast being held in a custody cell at Le Guardia, or JFK? Maybe he's already on his way to Guantanemo Bay!!:o

NOOOOOOOOOO silly, I forgot to clarify!!!!!!!!!! I saw him IN THE CROWD of the Macy's parade, looking for us, the sillies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

I think he was with Mary Kate. Or was it Ashley?

Well, heading out the door to my brother's. I made a chocolate cake, Bob's REd Mill mix, and the batter tasted like bitter poison. They are just about to come out of the oven, and they shall remain here, where I am pretty sure they'll become dog biscuits.

Susie's baking failure number two. Good thing there'll be plenty of treats for the normal people to eat.

Bev! Why do you keep driving by? You must park and stay for a while...though I think I know your very wise strategy: if you just slow down, but don't brake completely, the vortex isn't quite able to suck you in.

Hi Everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving! How was everyone's turkey day?

The wind has picked up here and it shaking my house. Anyway, the temp was 60 here today which for November in PA at all is nuts but I was in North Eastern PA so 60 was out of this world. Tonight the winds got strong and the temp has plummeted.....so winter is back...

I am watching Ugly Betty now and then I will tune into the Office.

Hope all my sillies had a good day! How many of you are venturing out tomorrow?

elye Community Regular

We had a snowstorm here today! 25 centimetres (about 12 inches). Winter is suddenly here, that's for sure. However, it is supposed to be 7 degrees on the weekend (upper 40's), so I guess it'll all be gone...why on earth did I spend an hour shovelling?

My mom (Northeastern PA) has a surprise snow fall on Monday, about 7 inches, she said she shoveled 3 different times, since it would stop, clear up and then start again.

Good evening sillies :D

I'm back from a very nice day at our son's--there were 10 of us there....I brought my dinner of turkey, Julie's cornbread stuffing and sweet potatoes. I was a little leary of CC since there was a ton of food around, but so far, so good.

Hope everyone had a good day--whether you celebrated Thanksgiving or not. I couldn't go to bed without checking this thread  Gawd!

jerseyangel Proficient

Oh--I forgot--the weather....

In New Jersey, it was warm all day--about 70. When we left, it was about 65 and an hour later when we got home, it was 44 here :o Can't believe the difference.

Mornin', Sillies!

Just doing my morning check-in...I'm at, what, 2020 posts, and the bodily fluids STILL abound. DD had a wicked nosebleed last night for no reason...wouldn't stop. I'm rushing around grabbing kleenexes and shoving her to the sink, muttering, "What IS this? I'm over 1000 posts...When the hell does it all stop?!"...My daughter, through an enormous wad of tissue, quietly says, "Mom....you need to stay out of your celiac computer world for a while". Sigh... Gus's ear has amazing stuff coming out of it STILL. And he's still shaking his head, looking at me pathetically.

Have a great breakfast, everyone!:lol::P

Morning Emily!!!!

I am at work today, the hospital is quiet. In my office there is just 4 of us. Our hospital, patient wise, is full and it is a large hospital.

We have decided we are doing very little today, so I will probably post a lot :). We are going to clean the office, and I want to reorganize my desk, and do other things. Sounds like fun, eh? I am still full from yesterday :):):)

This happened to me as well. What’s weirder is that within a couple hours of taking paxlovid it subsided. I thought maybe I got glutened but after reading your post not so sure.

Hi Tiffany. Thank you for writing your dituation and  circumstancesin such detail and so well writte, too. I particularly noticed what you wrote about brain for and feeling like your brain is swelling and I know from my own experiences that's how it feel and your brain really does swell and you get migraines.    Way back when I was in my 20s I read a book by 2 MD allergist and they described their patient who came in complaining that her brain, inside her cranium, was swelling  and it happened when she smelled a certain chemical she used in her home. She kept coming back and insisting her brain actually swelled in her head. The Drs couldn't explain this problem so they, with her permission, performed an operation where they made a small opening through her cranium, exposed her to the chemical then watched as she brain did swell into the opening. The DRs were amazed but then were able to advise her to avoid chemicals that made her brain swell. I remember that because I occasionally had brain fog then but it was not a serious problem. I also realized that I was becoming more sensitive to chemicals I used in my work in medical laboratories. By my mid forties the brain fog and chemicals forced me to leave my  profession and move to a rural area with little pollution. I did not have migraines. I was told a little later that I had a more porous blood brain barrier than other people. Chemicals in the air would go up into my sinused and leak through the blood brain barrier into my brain. We have 2 arteries  in our neck that carry blood with the nutrients and oxygen into the brain. To remove the fluids and used blood from the brain there are only capillaries and no large veins to carry it away so all those fluids ooze out much more slowly than they came in and since the small capillaries can't take care of extra fluid it results in swelling in the face, especially around the eyes. My blood flow into my brain is different from most other people as I have an arterial ischema, adefectiveartery on one side.   I have to go forward about 20 or more years when I learned that I had glaucoma, an eye problem that causes blindness and more years until I learned I had celiac disease.  The eye Dr described my glaucoma as a very slow loss of vision that I wouldn't  notice until had noticeable loss of sight.  I could have my eye pressure checked regularly or it would be best to have the cataracts removed from both eyes. I kept putting off the surgery then just overnight lost most of the vision in my left eye. I thought at the I had been exposed to some chemical and found out a little later the person who livedbehind me was using some chemicals to build kayaks in a shed behind my house. I did not realize the signifance  of this until I started having appointments with a Dr. in a new building. New buildings give me brain fog, loss of balance and other problems I know about this time I experienced visual disturbances very similar to those experienced by people with migraines. I looked further online and read that people with glaucoma can suffer rapid loss of sight if they have silent migraines (no headache). The remedy for migraines is to identify and avoid the triggers. I already know most of my triggers - aromatic chemicals, some cleaning materials, gasoline and exhaust and mold toxins. I am very careful about using cleaning agents using mostly borax and baking powder. Anything that has any fragrance or smell I avoid. There is one brand of dishwashing detergent that I can use and several brands of  scouring powder. I hope you find some of this helpful and useful. I have not seen any evidence that Celiac Disease is involved with migraines or glaucoma. Please come back if you have questions or if what I wrote doesn't make senseto you. We sometimes haveto learn by experience and finding out why we have some problems. Take care.       The report did not mention migraines.

Hi Jmartes71 That is so much like my story! You probably know where Laytonville is and that's where I was living just before my 60th birthday when the new Dr. suggested I could have Celiacs. I didn't go on a gluten challange diet before having the Celiac panel blood test drawn. The results came back as equivical as one antibody level was very high but another, tissue transaminasewas normal. Itdid show I was  allergic to cows milk and I think hot peppers. I immediately went gluten free but did not go in for an endoscopy. I found an online lab online that would do the test to show if I had a main celiac gene (enterolab.com). The report came back that I had inherited a main celiac gene, DQ8, from one parent and a D!6 from the other parent. That combination is knows to sym[tons of celiac worse than just inheriting one main celiac gene. With my version of celiac disease I was mostly constipated but after going gluten-free I would have diarrhea the few times I was glutened either by cross contamination or eating some food containing gluten. I have stayed gluten-free for almost 20 years now and knew within a few days that it was right for me although my recovery has been slow.   When I go to see a  medical provide and tell them I have celiacs they don't believe me. The same when I tell them that I carry a main celiac gene, the DQ8. It is only when I tell them that I get diarrhea after eating gluten that they realize that I might have celiac disease. Then they will order th Vitamin B12 and D3 that I need to monitor as my B12 levels can go down very fast if I'm not taking enough of it. Medical providers haven't been much help in my recovery. They are not well trained in this problem. I really hope this helps ypu. Take care.
