SO I realy dunno what to do about it. I was thinking trimming the back back some and trying to gow the top out till its all one lenght ... then I would have someplace to work from.

That's sort of what I suggested, but not bothering to grow it all to one length. If you give the back a good cut, say 6 inches or so, you can let those layers grow out while you grow out the top, while keeping it trimmed. Then, when the top is at a good length for you, have the back blended into it. That way you won't have all those in-between stages. Patti and I HATE those in-between stages, right, Patti?

Besides... scroll back... I already posted a ouples times :P

Yea, I knew that, I meant that you were back just in time for girl talk, if I had been talking outloud you would have known that by my tone ...

Most married men don't get embarassed by those things.

That's right--hate them! :angry::lol:

I still say that you (Vincent, not Carla  ) should go short. It's 2006--and you won't believe how easy and quick it will be in the mornings! B)

OKya I have a cofession about my hair... Im not happy with it..

See when I lived in Vegas I had an awsome stylist (not cheap! ) and she did a great job on both my and my wifes hair.... then we moved to Nashville and after living here 6 years still cant find anyone that does a decnet job... so my hair in the back is a mess. Its like 15 layers. Some of it is like 6 inchs long, and some goes 1/2 way down my back. I think every hair stylisit I have been to cut a dif part or somthing.

I'd still cut it about 6 inches or more if you need to to catch up to a different layer. Do you want layers or all the same length. It would be far healthier if you cut it back to a length you can handle and let it grow out again.

Short is so ..... NOT ME  I did have it shoulder lenght in the late 90's cause it was required to get the job as a manager at an Office Depot store... job was NOT worth it.

How about 4-6 inches below the shoulder. Still long and easier to maintain and keep healthy.

Well, you have to be comfortable with your choice. Probably the best thing to do would be to find a good salon/stylist. Maybe ask around. Then go in and discuss with him/her what you have in mind. A good stylist will make suggestions, but ultimately do what you want.

Patti,

I love your kitty so much, he's on my desktop.

What's a Flo-bee?

I think you should wear your hair like your sons ... longish, curly, and red!!!!:lol:

Go to a salon where you need an appt. Typically, you get a better haircut there ... not ALWAYS the case, but typically. And, remember, you usually get what you pay for!

Hi Meredith! :D

Glad you could join us. I'm playing while the kids watch tv.

Seth has gotten off on his schedule and is still sleeping.

They use to sell it on late-night informercials back, I think, in the 80's.

It's a hair clipper that you attach to your vaccum cleaner--no kidding :D

This is very premature post as I have no idea whats being discussed yet....only read page one....lots of mispellings by Celia. Be back later. :D

Uh...not much is being discussed (like a Seinfeld episode - a whole lotta nothin:)...hair....nail polish....menstruation.....the usual :P

the typos - - let me tell you the founding of this thread - I was SO freaked out about starting my menopause thread - what was I thinking - - literally was losing sleep over the fact that people would forever associate me with menopause, whether I was going through it or not - there would be my name - - DINGO GIRL and MENOPAUSE.....so I was freaking out on that thread - saying MAKE IT STOP - going back and forth - - and there goes my friend Cecile, right there - starts another one in that instant. To rescue me from my embarassment....that's what friends are for. ;)

Short is so ..... NOT ME  I did have it shoulder lenght in the late 90's cause it was required to get the job as a manager at an Office Depot store... job was NOT worth it.

somehow this just made me crack up..... no no definitely NOT worth cutting off yoru hair for a JOB for pete's sake.....

HI MEREDITH!! welcome - you don't have to be 40-ish - - we would change the title of the thread but we can't..... ;)

I have tried a few places like that here, wish I had that money back ! heh

I dont get what could be so hard about my cut!

My wife said somthing simular that I ahve to cut a chunk of the back off. She pointed to a place on my back liek I can see what she is talking about, so being a wise and married man, I just agreed

Will I finally did it and had my hair cut like my avitar. I really did. I look just like him, except my hair is a little shorter then his. But it is spiked. I have been thinking about doing this for 3 months and finally got the nerve. I love it. I would put a picture up, but first I need someone to take a photo. My hubby and I are meeting Broncobucs for lunch on Saturday and I will try and remember to take my digital. If there is a good picture I will send it to Floridian to put on for a couple of days. Then I am going back to my smiling avitar!!

Armetta - can't wait to see it - so you're saying you really look like an ostrich now?

*I* want to have lunch with some Celiacs on Saturday. pooh! I don't know any in this town. Well...except one....but it's best not to call him. :o and let's not go into that, shall we.....

I tired spikes when I was in like 7th or 8th grade... my hair to curly for it LOL

Ursa Major Collaborator

Vincent, I LOVE curly hair! That's the only good thing my husband gave the kids, their curls  . Only one daughter (go figure, the one who is just like him) has my straight hair. My son has longish, curly hair and looks so nice! I agree with Carla, why don't you have it like Timothy (except for the gorgeous red colour, of course ;) )?

mouse Enthusiast

Broncobucs is going to be here for a wedding and that is why we are meeting for lunch. I finally get to meet his girlfriend.

Vincent, I don't remember my haircut in 7th grade, but I do remember the haircut in the 6th. I was complaining that I needed a haircut and my brother who was 6 years older then me, said he would cut it. He sure did. I went to school with a DA and that afternoon a notice came from the principal that said, if anyone came to school with another one, they would be suspended. I wore mine proudly for awhile, as I was usually not a rebel, but wanted everyone's approval.

Desperately need a vitamin D supplement. I've reacted to most brands I've tried.

@catnapt,  I apologize.  Obviously I've confused you with someone else.  I have vision problems due to undiagnosed Celiac complications.  Being legally blind, y'all look the same from here.   You still have not said which new medication you started taking.  Parathyroid disorders can affect antibody production.  Bone Loss Correlated with Parathyroid Hormone Levels in Adult Celiac Patients https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36619734/ Effect of vitamin B1 supplementation on bone turnover markers in adults: an exploratory single-arm pilot study https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12075007/

during the gluten challenge I did not consume any wheat germ   the wheat germ is TOASTED - it's the only way it is sold now afiak doesn't matter I consume vast amounts of lectin containing foods PROPERLY prepared and have for well over a decade. They do not bother me in the least.    no anemia however the endo who ordered the celiac panel is the one who suggested the 2 week gluten challenge of eating at least 2 slices of bread per day or a serving of pasta- ALSO put me on a new drug at the same time (not a good idea)  I ate 4 slices because they were thin, or 2 English muffins, and just once some lasagna that someone else made since I stopped eating wheat pasta years ago. The English muffins caused some of the worst symptoms but that pc of lasagna almost killed me ( not literally but the pain was extreme) during those 12 days there were at least 3 times I considered going to Urgent Care.   This entire process was a waste of time TBH due to being on that new drug at the exact same time. it is impossible to tell if the drug I am taking for the possible renal calcium leak is working or not- given the dramatic response to the gluten challenge and resulting nausea (no vomiting) and eventually a loss of appetite and lower intake of foods so now I have a dangerously low potassium level   I don't have a simple case of celiac or no- I have an extremely complicated case with multiple variables I am seeing an endocrinologist for a problem with the calcium sensing glands - that system is very complicated and she has been unable to give me a firm diagnosis after many tests with confusing and often alarming results. She also appears to be inexperienced and unsure of herself. but I don't have the luxury of finding a new endo due to multiple issues of insurance, lack of drs in my area, money and transportation. so I'm stuck with her At least she hasn't given up    in any case I can assure you that lectins are not and never were the problem. I know they are a favorite villain in some circles to point to, but I have ZERO symptoms from my NORMAL diet which DOES NOT contain gluten. The longer I went without bread or foods with wheat like raisin bran cereal, the better I have felt. my body had been telling me for several years that wheat was the problem- or maybe specifically gluten, that remains to be seen- and stopping eating it was the best thing I could have done   I almost had unnecessary MAJOR SURGERY due to joint pain that I ONLY have if I am eating bread or related products I assumed it was the refined grains - never really suspected gluten but it does not matter I won't put that poison in my body ever again not that it is literally poison but it is def toxic to me

@catnapt,  I'm sorry you're having such a rough time.   How much wheat germ and how much gluten were you eating? Lectins in beans can be broken down by pressure cooking them.  Do you pressure cook your beans?  Were you pressure cooking your wheat germ? What drugs are you taking?  Some immunosuppressive drugs affect IgA production.  Do you have anemia?
    • catnapt
oops my gluten challenge was only 12 days It started Jan 21s and ended Feb 1st   worst 12 days of my life   Does not help that I also started on a thiazide-like drug for rule in/out renal calcium leak at the exact same time No clue if that could have been symptoms worse 🤔

Welcome to the forum @Known1, What reaction were you expecting? Pipingrock.com High Potency Vitamin D3, 2000 IU, 250 Quick Release Softgels $6.89 I've have been taking the 10,000 IU for close to 10 years. When I started with vitamin D I worked my way up to 10000 over several weeks.  Even at 8000 I felt no noticeable difference.  Then after a few days at 10000 it hit Whoa, sunshine in a bottle.  celiac disease causes malabsorption of dietary D and you've poor UV access.  It took me from 2015 to 2019 to get my 25(OH)D just to 47 ng/ml.  Another two years to get to 80.  70 to 100 ng/ml seems to be the body's natural upper homeostasis  based on lifeguard studies.  Dr. Holick has observed the average lifeguard population usually has a vitamin D 3 level of around 100 ng/ml. Could it be that our normal range is too low given the fact that ¾ or more of the American population is vitamin D deficient? Your Calcium will increase with the vitamin D so don't supplement calcium unless you really need it.  Monitor with PTH  and 25(OH)D tests. Because of your Marsh 3 damage you need to ingest way more than the RDA of any supplement to undo your specific deficiencies. I believe you are in the goiter belt.  Unless you have reason not to, I recommend pipingrock's Liquid Iodine for price and quality.  The RDA is 150 to 1100 mcg.  In Japan the safe upper level is set at 3000 mcg.  Start with one drop 50 mcg to test for adverse response and build up.  I found 600 mcg (12 drops) a day is helping repair my body.  Iodine is necessary to healing.  90% of daily iodine intake is excreted in urine.  A Urine Iodine Concentration (UIC) can tell how much Iodine you got that day.  The thyroid TSH test will not show iodine deficiency unless it is really bad.
