Hey,

My family just moved to SC this summer (we moved the day my doctor told me i needed to get the blood work done to find out if i had celiacs -- talk about timing!).

Anyways I was officially diagnosed this october and although i'm supposed to be at college right now im home with my family in SC trying to get this under control so I can attempt to have a normal college life. I was wondering if there were any support groups (Especially for teens) near the Charleston area. It would be really helpful to not go through this alone.

Hi,

I'm in Greenville, SC. There is an active Celiac Disease support group here. We meet the second Thursday of each month at the Earth Fare Health Food store on I-85 north and Pelham Rd. (exit 54) at 7:00 PM.

Drive up sometime and meet with us! We have all ages in our support group, from 19 to 60.

Hello all in South Carolina i live in Mt. Pleasant.... love it, okay i work at Crave Kitchen and cocktails and we are part owners we do offer gluten free options lots of them. We have a menu that you can ask for; be sure to remind your server also. I am there alot my name is Carmela everyone will know who i am. The food is awesome and we know how hard it is to find restraunts with options. So please come check us out. I get very sick if i am glutened it sucks . The kitchen is very good at accomidating...

I live in the Charlotte area of N.C. but, my territory is in SC.

There is a good Earthfare in Rock Hill.

Also, Fort Mill has Pei Wei, Outback, and Carraba's-all have gluten-free menu's.

      Shingles - Could It Be Related to Gluten/ Celiac

      Try heallix solution. It's at heallix.com It's a silver and fulvic acid solution. I just put it on a cotton ball and wiped the shingles area. I also took a little internally once a day. I can't remember how many times a day I applied to the area. Probably 3-4 times a day. It was the only thing that stopped the nerve pain. I don't know if the vaseline is...

      My husband just had shingles going on 7 weeks now. We had been putting Vaseline on the blisters and lidocaine cream and he was prescribed an antiviral. Also he still has the nerve pain it was bad and is getting better it is his upper left torso. His dr prescribed gabapentin 300mg 3x a day and he's also taking naproxen 500ng 2x a day and tylenol 1000mg every...

      This is FANTASTIC--especially that they are recognising barley and (potentially) oats as sources of gluten/contamination! Now if only we can get labeling guidelines to clarify "spices" and "natural flavors" for those of us with other severe allergies.

      Hi everyone, I decided to post this since there's no enough online information. I'm concerned about the enzyme capsules that are said to help digest gluten.  I'm waiting to end my university exams to start the gluten challenge and do the official diagnosis for Celiac Disease. A friend of mine suggested me to buy the "Gluten Digest Now" capsules during the Gluten Challenge to manage my severe side effects. But I'm not sure if it's worth it, if it's celiac disease the intestinal damage will occur regardless.  What about the symptoms? There's someone that knows if it could help to reduce them?  I’m worried people might be using these as a "safety net" without understanding how they work. Has anyone here used them during a challenge? Did they make a difference, or did they just provide a false sense of security?

I don't know if the vaseline is good.  The shingles need to dry out and heal.  Wash everything that comes in contact  with them in hot water. Don't use or wear anything twice.

Hope this helps  The lidocaine cream is by tylenol and is available in a large tube on Amazon or at Walmart

      What are your daily meals? Guilty pleasure snacks? Protein bars? I feel when looking for gluten free foods they are filled with sugar cholesterol. Looking for healthy gluten-free protein bars. Something to fill since sometimes I feel like not to eat anything. Especially if on vacation and unsure of cross contamination I figure go with a salad and protein bar to fill and play it safe.

      Unfortunately, there is presently no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out. NCGS is thought to be much more common than celiac disease. We know that celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder but the mechanism of NCGS is less clear. Both call for an elimination of gluten from the diet.
