is maltodextrin gluten containing- or gluten? Sorry for all the questions, i am trying to search these things before posting- i am getting OVERWHELMED by all of this....going through my med cabinet- because that was a small starting point and its taken hours today and i am not half way finished...thinking of buying that scanner thing, but seriously want to be able to read labels...my eyes hurt from all the teensy little words....

thanks in advance

Breann

I don't think it contains gluten.

I know that it is used in Vance's dairi free and that is gluten free.

Hopefully someone else will jump in here.

maltodextrin is gluten free.

Yep--definately gluten-free :D

I hate to confuse the issue, but isn't maltodextrin gluten-free in foods, but possibly not gluten-free when it's in medications and supplements?:unsure: (someone correct me if I"m wrong)

Maltdextrin, is the US is usually corn based, and therefore gluten free. But this is not the case for Canadians.

Actually, in Canada it is almost invariably corn based as well. No worries up here in the frozen North.

In the US it has to be labeled if it has a wheat base. I have only seen two labels that had the base listed as wheat. (Health Valley soup)

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
