That's right people.........the stinkin' weather man said SNOW!!!!!

It isn't supposed to accumulate or stick. However even the sight of snow means that real snow is on the way someday soon. It will be cold and slick and burrrrrr did I say cold??!!!

Snow is beautiful if you can stay inside until it melts. UGH!!

I saw the report for next Monday...snow showers, fiance is already excited.....I am just depressed, I am a summer person, barefoot, beaches, fresh fruit from the road stands, county fairs, not snow and layers of clothing.

Oh, stop yer complainin! LOL!

We had our first snowfall before Halloween, and it hasn't left. Got a lot of snow over the last couple of days, and even after using the snowblower yesterday, we still had deep drifts and had to shovel the walk and (long) driveway again today! Got to a high of -8C today...should warm up to 2C tomorrow. Ugh...6 more months of this to go!

Oh, I l ove the snow! Western Washington doesn't get much. We're expecting a wind and rain storm tomorrow. Maybe the power will go out and we'll have a day off school too. :P

I like having snow days. :D

To drop everything and go play in the snow. :D

Sneak off to bed early and cuddle. ;)

Just as long as the pantry is stocked with the stuff you need. (you know like hot chocolate, soup and Altoids)

That's a good argument if you live in Calgary (it was really nice being close to Banff when I lived there,) but the argument doesn't work for those of us in the Edmonton area...we're 4 hours away from the nearest mountains!

Well I guess there are a slightfew who love winter******************Living up in the north forty would be wonderful except I don't like the many hours of darkness... We enjoyed our 12,755 mile vacation to Banff ,Kluane Lake then to Alaska for the summer a year ago that we are planning on a return trip in 09.....Would love to see the northern lights....

To all the canadian friends I hope you enjoy the miracle of winter! It's gonna happen no matter what so you might as well enjoy it......

For now I am at peace because it did NOT snow. YEAH!! I love to look at snow. It is very beautiful. I just dont' like driving in it or having to take my class out to recess in it...burrrrrr

I love it when there are those huge, beautiful snowflakes, and they're coming down especially in a parking lot, because the lights just highlight their shapes. Of course, where I live, the snow is usually gone the next day -- or replaced by ice. But hey, for one brief shining moment there was Camelot!!!!! (tried to Google if that's right, but got tired of looking!)

Visiting Banff and Jasper is great. Living with 6 months of winter just isn't postcard picture perfect, and hard to enjoy when it's -30C and you still have to get the kids to school, go to work, etc. :P

The hours of darkness in the winter are depressing too, but, where I live, we get many hours of sunlight in the summer months...At the peak, it's light at 5am and not dark until close to 11pm.

We've had a nice blanket of snow here in Northern Alberta since the first week of November!

I thought you were in Calgary, Carrie. Where are you located now?

The Edmonton area has had snow since before Halloween. Unfortunately, the blanket of snow is now dirty with gravel and salt from the roads, and my clothes keep getting dirty from leaning into the car to buckle my kids up!

I'm in a small town about 2.5 hours north of Edmonton. So we've had similar weather to you!

Dave mowed our grass on Friday, I think it was. Every year we wonder if we'll have a White Christmas. It's been quite awhile. I WANT SNOW!!!!! Lots of it -- like when I was a kid -- and we would get to go sledding . . .

This is great -- when my kids were younger, it snowed, and I said that I knew of a hill that we could go to that was PERFECT -- and no one really knew about it! So, I pack up everything, and we head out . . . . about 20 minutes into our play, my father shows up -- with the thermos in hand. And a bag of mini marshmallows. When I was a kid, he would always make sure that we had hot chocolate whenever we went sledding or ice skating. Wasn't that sweet? It made me cry.

I'm trying to figure out a way to put rudders on my wheelchair -- I think I have a plan, although I MAY have to invest in a seat-belt for my chair! If you guys thought they got out of the way for me in Vegas when I was tipsy, just imagine me on a sledding hill in a rigged wheelchair! HA!:lol::lol::lol::D

Testing can't alone be trusted.  Else why would it take so many years of testing and retesting and misdiagnosis to finally be told, yes you have Celiac Disease. As to what to eat, I like pre 1950 style food.  Before the advent of TV dinners.  Fresh food is better for you, and cooking from scratch is cheaper.  Watch Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals for how to cook.  Keep in mind that she is not gluten free, but her techniques are awesome.  Just use something else instead of wheat, barley, rye. Dr Fuhrman is a ex cardiologist.  His book Eat to Live and Dr Davis' book Wheatbelly were instrumental in my survival.

If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch--thanks for the tip about Dupixent, and I've added it to the article:

I just want to clarify that what I posted is a category of research summaries we've done over the years, and nearly each one shows that there is definitely a connection to celiac disease and migraine headaches. The latest study said: "the study did indicate some potential causal associations between celiac disease and migraine with or without aura, as well as between migraine without aura and ulcerative colitis...this study did not find evidence of a shared genetic basis..." Anyway, there is definitely a connection, and you can go through more of the articles here if you're interested: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp-related-diseases-and-disorders/migraine-headaches-and-celiac-disease/

Two months ago, I started taking Dupixent for dermatitis herpetiformis and it has completely cleared it up. I can't believe it! I have had a terrible painful, intensely itchy rash for over a year despite going fully gluten-free. See if your doctor will prescribe Dupixent. It can be expensive but I am getting it free. When the dermatitis herpetiformis was bad I could not do anything. I just lay in bed covered in ice packs to ease the pain/itching and using way too Clobetasol. Dapsone is also very good for dermatitis herpetiformis (and it is generic). It helped me and the results were immediate but it gave me severe anemia so the Dupixent is better for me. Not sure if it works for everyone. I cannot help with the cause of your stress but from experience I am sure the severe stress is making the celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis worse. Very difficult for you with having children to care for and you being so sick. Would this man be willing to see a family therapist with you? He may be angry at you or imagine that your illness is a psychosomatic excuse not to take care of him. A therapist might help even if he won't go with you. Also do you have any family that you could move in with (with the kids) for a short time to get away? A break may be good for you both.

@tiffanygosci, Thiamine deficiency is a thing in pregnancy for "normal" people, so it's exponentially more important for those with celiac disease and malabsorption issues. I studied nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology because I was curious what the vitamins were doing inside the body.  See my blog.  Click on my name to go to my page, scroll to drop down menu "activities" and select blog.   So glad you're motivated to see the dietician!  We're always happy to help with questions.  Keep us posted on your progress!
