I sometimes have to log in 3x when I try to post. I write the text, try to post - and it says log in. So go back and do that. Save my text. Then redo it, and try to post and then it says 'log in'. Just a while ago I did it 3x

I don't have any problems logging in, apart from the first day after the switch, where it took me a few minutes to work out I had to log in under my email address, and not username.

I have been looking into a few people's profiles, and I was quite surprised to find out what sort of imformation is in there, as in the last person to have visited etc etc, and to me it feels like I'm invading someone's space, but at times it is nice to know a bit more about the person posting in a thread. But in hindsight I don't mind people going into my profile.

Also in the profiles, we are given a rating, how is that managed? Who gives us as posters a rating, is it other posters or the moderators? Just curious.

I use Firefox as my browser and can go into Tools->Options->->Privacy->Passwords->View Saved Passwords

then find www.glutenfreeforum.com and delete it. Then when you log in next time it will ask you if you want to save it. The reason the log in problems are happening is because your User Name is saved instead of your email, which is the new log in method for many reasons--way too many people forget their User Names.

Take care,

I guess that's what happens when you deal with a bunch of people who are susceptible to brain fog! :P

That is precisely why I just use my name for my user name. Hopefully I won't forget that.;)

No, you're not. Scott mistakenly showed to go to 'Privacy', but you need to click on 'Security' instead. That will bring you to a window where you can click on 'show passwords'.

I was curious about the "rating" with the illuminated stars, in a members profile. I did not get passed my profile, much. Well OK, I looked at a few. What is the criteria for the rating?

AND ALSO.... I posted this in the recent past. You need to publish a cookbook with all our gluten free recipes from this forum, to support this forum. We need to give back. If you can work it out, we will be there and glad to contribute.

Lisa

Ooh, I agree with the cookbook! I'll provide my pancake recipe and my cheater-pizza instructions. If one is printed, I'll even buy one!

Got a question:

I have received several e-mail notations that someone has put ME on their friends list. Do I need to approve this? I changed my selection to "receive, pending approval". How do I accept my friends, and how do I add friends to my list.

I do not see a way to create my own "friends list".

Help

BTW: Speak SLOWLY and ELEMENTARY I have attempted to use this computer as a boat anchor many, many times.

:lol::lol:

I just accept whoever want to add me as a friend, but......see if this works.

Click on My Friends. Another window will open where it shows your friends. You have two other tabs, one says Friends Pending Approval and the other says Mutual Friends. Go to the Friends Pending Approval and see what that says. I can't help you definitively as I don't have mine set to that. Mutual Friends would be those where you both have each other listed as friends.

AndreaB Contributor

To add friends you can either move your mouse over the posters name in a thread, click on the arrow and choose add as friend; or do a member search and when that person comes up click on Add as Friend (under the area for personal photo).

You have to "ok" it with email if someone wants to list you as a friend??

I havent checked my email in over a week... this means nobody can list me as a friend???

Maybe nobody has even asked me?? :(

How come I don't receive e-mail notification that someone wants to be my friend??? ( If there are any of course!! )

EDIT: Ok, I checked my email account and it does tell me I am on someones 'friend list', BUT I don't get any notifications?

jerseyangel Proficient

Nikki and Rachel,

You are both on my friend's list. All I know is that I have gotten email notification when someone has added me as their friend. I have never been asked to approve anyone.

Have you viewed your friend lists, and looked at the mutual friends? You click on mutual friends up in the lefthand corner of your friend's page. That way, you can see who of your friends has also added you as their friend.

Now, I do have one person who added me as a friend, who I tried to add, but it's pending approval :blink:

Nikki--The mince pies in your avatar look fabulous! :D

Wow....sounds complicated....all the approvals and mutual friend stuff...its over my brainfogged head.

Will try to figure it out later. B)

I guess I will have to remain "friendless" for the time being. :P

I'm also wondering about this whole rating thing. Someone visited my profile and gave me four stars out of five. what does that mean? LOL this is all very complicated

Kaycee Collaborator

Yes please, can someone explain the ratings. I've got five stars!

Mango, I would've given you five stars.

WHO DOES THE STAR RATINGS ANYWAY..I PERSONALLY THINK IT'S A STUPID IDEA.

I MUST HAVE ASK THIS QUESTIONS 4 TIMES ON HERE.

Judy,

I'm thinking anyone can do star ratings.

For instance, go to Patti's profile and put your cursor on the fifth star and click. You should get a message that it's updating (or some such thing). Patti already has five stars but you can see if it will work.

Judy, I dont have the answers. Personally, I dont use the "star" or "friends" features. I dont like to single people out like that and I dont want to accidentally alienate somebody.....so I just havent used either of those features.

Everyone is my "friend" and we are all worthy of 5 stars in my book!! Mango...that goes for you too! :D

Ditto- What is this star thing? I feel like I'm on "ratemyprofessor.com". I am just going to random people's profiles and giving them all 5 stars cuz you all all beautiful to me! Maybe we need the little chili pepper to show who's hot or not :P :P :P

Have you tried Pure Encapsulations supplements? This is a brand my doctor recommends for me. I have no issues with this brand.

plant sources of calcium, such as spinach, have calcium bound to oxalates, which is not good. best source of calcium is unfortunately dairy, do you tolerate dairy? fermented dairy like kefir is good and or a little hard cheese. i do eat dairy, i can only take so much dietary restriction and gluten is hard enough! but i guess some people do have bad reactions to it, so different for everyone.

i take b12, folate, b2, b6, glycine, Nac, zinc, vk2 mk4, magnesium, coq10, pqq, tmg, creatine, omega 3, molybdnem (sp) and just started vit d. quite a list i know.  I have high homocysteine (last checked it was 19, but is always high and i finally decided to do something about it) and very low vitamin d, 10. have been opposed to this supp in the past, but going to try it at 5k units a day. having a pth test on friday, which is suspect will be high. my homocysteine has come down to around 9 with 3 weeks of these supplements and expect it to go down further. i also started on estrogen/progesterone. I have osteoporosis too, so that is why the hormones.  anyway, i think all celiacs should have homocysteine checked and treated if needed (easy enough with b vit, tmg). homocysteine very bad thing to be high for a whole host of reasons. all the bad ones, heart attack , stroke, alzi, cancer..... one of the most annoying things about celiacs (and there are so many!) is the weight gain. i guess i stayed thin all those years being undiagnosed because i was under absorbing everything including calories. going gluten-free and the weight gain has been terrible, 30#, but i'm sure a lot more went into that (hip replacement - and years of hip pain leading to inactivity when i was previously very active, probably all related to celiacs, menopause) yada yada. i seemed to lose appetite control, like there was low glp, or leptin or whatever all those hormones are that tell you that you are full and to stop eating. my appetite is immense and i'm never full. i guess decades or more ( i think i have had celiacs since at least my teens - was hospitalized for abdominal pain and diarrhea for which spastic colon was eventually diagnosed and had many episodes of diarrhea/abdominal pain through my 20's. but that symptom seemed to go away and i related it to dairy much more so than gluten. Also my growth was stunted, i'm the only shorty in my family. anyway, decades of malabsorption and maldigestion led to constant hunger, at least thats my theory. then when i started absorbing normally, wham!! FAT!!!

Great advise there I agree with the aniexty part, and the aura migraine has I suffer both, I've also read some great books that have helped I'm going too look the one you mentioned up too thankyou for that, I find a camomile tea just a small one and a gentle wind down before bed has helped me too, I suffer from restless leg syndrome and nerve pain hence I don't always sleep well at the best of times , racing mind catches up I have decorated my whole house in one night in my mind before 🤣 diet changes mindset really help , although I have to say it never just disappears, I find once I came to terms with who I am I managed a lot better  , a misconception is for many to change , that means to heal but that's not always the case , understanding and finding your coping mechanisms are vital tools , it's more productive to find that because there is no failure then no pressure to become something else , it's ok to be sad it's ok to not sleep , it's ok to worry , just try to see it has a journey not a task 🤗
    • nanny marley
I agree there I've tryed this myself to prove I can't eat gluten or lactose and it sets me back for about a month till I have to go back to being very strict to settle again
