Glad you have had a couple of better days.. I hope 07 brings you months of better days... I wish I could have a piece of that pizza!!!! lucky you......

I guess there are no pork & kraut lovers out there!!!!!We were alway told that we must eat that on new year's so we would have good health & prosperity in the new year.. I can remember as a kid I hated that meal, now after all the years we love it. now I tell my grandkids the same story as I was told years ago.

9:32 & counting. Husband pouring the wine, the candles are lit!!!!!! home alone , home alone, good night!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yes, and my beautiful Sheba is ready to party too. And yes Rusla, Sheba is a strange name for a Shiba Inu, but her regestered name is "Rokita's Gal Sheba" so that's what she ended up with. Sheba is spelled like the Queen of Sheba, which she thinks she is at times

Happy New Year everyone, Rusla has started a New Year party thread. See you there!

Way to get the party off the ground there, Angus!! I just love your new piacure, by the way--you look dignified and less puppy-ish. Your mommy and daddy must be feeding you well!! :D

Where the heck would gluten be in a bat-head?

Cross contamination....duh!

Rusla Enthusiast

Aye missy. If the bat is a vampire bat and he bit a gluten-eating creature then the gluten would be in his head and teeth. HOwever, I am watching one of my favorite movies while doing this, I am drunk, semi nekkid and almost drank my whole 200ml bottle of cordon negro champagne. Top that.

Viola 1 Rookie
 So the bat found some sticky gluten laden New Year's feast?
RiceAddict Rookie

Alright, I give up. I admit it was a terrible attempt at a joke. If I was any good at comedy I wouldn't do what I do now....come to think of it, I'm not very good at doing that either.

Rusla Enthusiast

So Shirley, what is the Queen of Sheba the Shiba Inu wearing for New Years Eve. Is she dressed in her finest fur coat?

You could never tell maybe the bat head is stuffed with a bread stuffing, served up with flour laden gravey on a slice French bread. My gosh, look at all the gluten in the bat head.

Silly me

:o Gee, I'm in my nightclothes with a bottle of spring water watching QVC. My husband (as I predicted days ago) is snoring on the couch downstairs. You got me beat by a mile :P

She is dressed in her finest winter coat...a couple inches thick and a darker red than her picture. She tends to fade to a red tip cream in the summer <_<

Then catch up. what you waiting for...next year? Take something off and we could almost be even.

That would be the bleaching of the sun.

Do you live in Camel Poops BC, Shirley?

You know, you're right! I'm having a hysterectomy in 3 days--I should have a drink and let loose a little. I think I'm just wound too tight

My hubby is downstairs watching some sports on TV ... nothing exciting happening here. such is life after 40 years of togetherness

Take something off, dance nekkid in front of your husband and celebrate the freedom from the expense of feminine products. Rejoice

!

Shirley, I suggest you do the same, it will shake him up. He will wonder what's come over you. Make this the year of being unpredictable.

My 5yo was diagnosed with celiac last year by being tested after his sister was diagnosed. We are very strict on the gluten-free diet, but unsure what his reactions are as he was diagnosed without many symptoms other than low ferritin.  He had a school party where his teacher made gluten-free gingerbread men. I almost said no because she made it in her kitchen but I thought it would be ok.  Next day and for a few after his behavior is awful. Hitting, rude, disrespectful. Mainly he kept saying his legs were shaking. Is this a gluten exposure symptom that anyone else gets? Also the bad behavior?

Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified Gluten" in any given batch run. It just means there could be.

I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.

Are Bobresmill gluten free oats ok for sensitive celiacs?

thank you both for the insights. i agree, im going to back off on dairy and try sucraid. thanks for the tip about protein powder, i will look for whey protein powder/drinks!   i don’t understand why my doctor refused to order it either. so i’ve decided i’m not going to her again, and i’m going to get a second opinion with a GI recommended to me by someone with celiac. unfortunately my first appointment isn’t until February 17th. do you think i should go gluten free now or wait until after i meet with the new doctor? i’m torn about what i should do, i dont know if she is going to want to repeat the endoscopy, and i know ill have to be eating gluten to have a positive biopsy. i could always do the gluten challenge on the other hand if she does want to repeat the biopsy.    thanks again, i appreciate the support here. i’ve learned a lot from these boards. i dont know anyone in real life with celiac.
