Taco Bell?

So, you would *think* a taco would be okay...but unfortunately, TB uses oats in their shells and meat. Why? Who knows.

Anyway, according to their ingredient statement, tostada shells, beans, and rice are okay (as well as the sauce - minus fire sauce). So would a tostada of beans, lettuce, cheese, and mild sauce be okay? Do you eat there?

Taco Bell for me? Not in this lifetime.

Not in a million years. The employees never wash their hands and there is cross contamination everywhere.

In fact, I don't see how you could not get sick eating there.

Avoid it. Its not worth it. Make your own at home - its simple.

Nope. But daughter is allergic to soy and they put soy in everything.

Just stay away.

I didn't particularly like Taco Bell pre-diagnosis and what I've heard about them post-diagnosis has definitely put them on my skip list.

However, the Taco Bell Fat Free refried beans in a can in the grocery store are a staple at my house. Pity I can't count on the fast food spots to be as safe.

When I want tacos, I go to Taco Cabana. They even have a gluten free menu and I've had very few problems with them over the years since diagnosis.

I HAD NO IDEA!!!! Thats why I got SICK when I was a kid....bastards! They should advertise that!!!

I do remember right after I got my first car (I didn't know about Celiac at this point) my friends and I were in the drive through and we saw the delivery truck. The back door was open and there were a ton of boxes that said "Grade D beef, mostly edible".....we all ordered chicken and never returned to any taco bell. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!?!?

There was athread on Taco Bell a few months ago. When my parents came up to visit we went to the mall and were looking for a place to eat. None of us were terribly hungry so we decided to try to find fast food. I remember what was discussed on that thread, and on others advice I ordered a steak bowl. It was good, but that has been my only experience with them, and it was a good one. It would have to be a special circumstance for me to return to any fact food place asside from a Wendy's Frosty.....oh great, now I'm hungry!

Just FYI, Wendy's baked potatos and chili is a mainstay of fast food for me. I've never had a problem so long as I remember to tell them not to put crackers in the bag.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
