I'm not doing anything tonight except sleeping, but I actually considered redoing all my makeup and leaving it on until I go to bed. How weird is THAT!?

I think is sounds fun! :D You should do it!

Love Everyday Minerals! They're natural, yet have great coverage!

Welcome to the thread (and to the madness! ) What colors do you use? Do share... :D

Happy New Year everyone! :):DB)

OMGosh...my order is in Redwood City....That's just down the street a few miles, lol. I can probably drive there and pick it up faster than they can deliver it. :P

Donna, what are you waiting for . . . hop to it, there's make-up a waiting  !!

;)

My husband is very - ahem - "appreciative" of how good it looks (nudge, nudge, wink, wink). That should probably be included as a disclaimer on the EM website. ;) I think I need to bake him some chocolate chip cookies as a distraction.

Woo hoo! Congratulations Colleen! Sounds like you're benefiting from this make-up in more ways than one ;);) !

Well now....this thread has just gotten to be unmanageable......

Who knew Mango would start a monster cult-makeup thread?

So.........I am afraid to sift through all of it.......what is the consensus on the best choice as a concealer? is it actually the concealer?

I used the intensive this morning and really liked it.....felt it had some good concealing qualities......I took a break while skin cleared. BTW, I am using Aquaphor at night.......unbelievable stuff to clear blemishes, believe it or not. My skin has NEVER been this soft and clear.........

:)

I was thinking when I started this that a monster cult make-up thread was just what this board needed.

Concealer - well, I use intensive fair concealer mostly, with a bit of mint dusted underneath. Under my eyes I use sunlight with a dab of pick me up pink around the outer corners (just call me crazy concealer woman). I think the intensive concealer is really good actually, with the right brush (I use the BE equivalent of the EM premium foundation brush).

Did that make any sense?:lol:

Has anyone tried DVR Saturday? (Donna, I think maybe you ordered it?) I'm thinking my blushes need to be pink with no brown or orange. That one looks like it might be good. I'm also wanting to try Pink Ribbon...and Natural...aaahh so many choices :D

Rosebud710 Apprentice

For concealor, I use Sunlight under my eye as well. But someone - I forgot who, sorry - suggested putting the concealor on with eye moisturizer (it helps with the wrinkles ). I do that and it helps. I mix Pick Me Up Pink and Multi-tasking together and put that on with a moist make-up sponge. I have found my skin to be even better since I started using this make-up! The oils have subsided and it feels very soft - all day long, too! I don't get as oily at the end of the day.

This is one cult I don't mind belonging to . . . !

Yes because Lord knows I don't have enough monster cult threads in MY life! I'm not silly enough for the silly thread, so this was JUST what I needed! :P

I'm actually just using the foundation as a concealer...not sure I'd say it was a best choice, though, but certainly the laziest choice. :P

Yes, I really like the pinks with no hint of orange...Weekend Getaway wasn't bad for me though. I ordered DVR Saturday...it's amongst the goodies at the DHL facility down the road from where I WAS at work, lol. It probably won't get delivered until Wednesday or Thursday though...

 Yes, another cult thread, just what we needed.

and Donna - you are TOO funny enough for the silly thread!

Okay......now have to go to the makeup site and buy more things........oh THANKS you guys, thanks a LOT!!!!!!!!!

dlp252 Apprentice

Well DANG!!!!

I just checked the stupid tracking thing and it says it's with the delivery courier! DANG!!!!! It's being delivered to my work, and the STUPID OFFICE CLOSED EARLY TODAY, lol!!

Torture I tell you!!!

I left at 12:00 and right before I left, I checked the status, and it hadn't changed...it said it was at the facility. So I just checked again, and it says it's out for delivery!!!

I hope SOMEONE in the mail room stayed late, lol. If the dang thing says delivered before tomororow afternoon, I'm taking a ride up there (a 30 minute all freeway drive one way, lol) because any self-respecting makeup cult thread participant COULDN'T just let it sit there could they?!

Joni63 Collaborator

Oh Donna, I hope you can get it figured out without having to take a trip today. Good luck to you!

I can't take it any more. I have 3 items in my cart all setup and ready. I found this site girlynation.com that gives you the best color matches based on your skin. It's not the best, but did help me get some more ideas.

I was waiting to see what the new special would be, but they extended the old one until January 9th. Decisions, decisions...

dlp252 Apprentice

Ha, no trip for me I guess...status hasn't changed...it's still out with the delivery courier. I guess I can wait tomorrow {{{she says with huge disappointment in her voice}}}

:o Wow, I was all excited to see what the new special would be today, lol. Oh well, I THINK I can wait until the 9th. Maybe. Possibly.

cruelshoes Enthusiast

Oh goodie! Now we are a cult! I've always wanted to belong to one. I think we need leaflets.

The order I places on Saturday STILL hasn't been received by the post office! The USPS site still says "electronic information received." Humph.

I just looked at the EM website, and they have the Open Original Shared Link! How could I have missed those?!?!? I simply must order some of those next time.

I absolutely will not place an order until the primer and new eye shadow brush are available. But I really want to try baby bath, to do list and pressed olive in the eye colors. I have never been very experimental (except in the 80's when we all wanted to look like Madonna). But this makeup has really made me want to step outside of my comfort zone.

BTW - I tried mixing the EM foundation in to my moisturizer yesterday, and it worked great.

You know, it may just show up on your doorstep before that info changes, lol. USPS never seems to track well for me, lol. I hope that's the case for you, lol.

I know what you mean about stepping outside of my comfort zone. I'm excited to try greens and golds and bronzes, lol. I normally stay with the same sort of neutral pinks...it's exciting!

Rosebud710 Apprentice

Ahhh! I'm going to bump this up - it almost made it off the "View New Posts" list - first time in almost a month :o ! I'm sure we are all busy with our make-up!

Donna, you will arrive to work tomorrow with your order waiting for you (darn those annoying holidays ;) )

Let us know how it went - I have green eyes and they say I should wear green make-up, but I'm not so sure of it. It's one of those things I see on other people and it looks fine, but I wear it and I look hideous <_<.

Well, I cleared out all my old make-up and even though there's more room in it, it gets all shuffled around and I have powder scattered all about. This week I'm going to look for a new container - I can't wait!!

Gaaaah! USPS still does not have any updates info on my last order. What's a poor addict to do?

Today is my first day back at work after 11 days off for the holidays. I have only been here for 2 hours. 3 people have already told ne how nice I look today. Putting on the EM only takes 5 minutes in the morning, and you get lots of compliments. What could be better?

Thanks! Do you have any links? I tried doing a search but really couldn't find anything specifically addressing the metals issue. I don't have an allergy to metals that I know of, but I have heavy metals toxicity.

To everyone else,

While searching on this I found this link...apparently they like our Everyday Minerals too, lol:

And a little excerpt from the link where they mention OUR cult obsession, LOL:

Where to Purchase

Mineral makeup can help you achieve radiant, glowing skin. If you worry about developing an allergy to mineral makeup, remember to research ingredient lists prior to purchasing the product. The following brands carry extensive mineral makeup collections that do not contain known allergens:

I didn't realize I was like 3 pages behind in our EM cult thread, what is the matter with me?!?!?:lol:

Those mixing bowls do look cute.....

That's so great you are getting so many compliments with your new look back at work :D

BTW, I am using Aquaphor at night.......unbelievable stuff to clear blemishes, believe it or not. My skin has NEVER been this soft and clear.........

Sounds like a miracle in a bottle Susie and something I might need  Where do you find said product??

And what did you end up ordering from EM?

I'm thinking my blushes need to be pink with no brown or orange

Yes, I really like the pinks with no hint of orange

Well, I am terrible at colors, like for instance deciphering pinks with bluish tones rather than whatever else.....BUT I think this is what I need, what kind of pink anyway...a rose with a bluish undertone...I think.....

I was waiting to see what the new special would be, but they extended the old one until January 9th. Decisions, decisions...

Oooh! So still FREE brushes.....

Thanks for the heads up Joni, you are always on top of the specials

I have green eyes and they say I should wear green make-up, but I'm not so sure of it. It's one of those things I see on other people and it looks fine, but I wear it and I look hideous

Laura, I have hazel eyes and that color session I had done the colorist also picked out green and brown eye makeup for me. I was a little shocked at fist but when she put it on it really did look pretty good, and did bring out my eyes which I guess is the point of eye makeup :lol:

What she did is put a highlighter all over the lid and all the way up to the brow, then she put on a peachy color on the lid to crease, then she put just a light stroke of the green color in the eye lid crease with a light stroke of brown over it. THEN.....the upper lash line was lined with the green and brown, as well as the lower lash line. Brown mascara on the lashes finished it off.

Also, I have read that burgandy colors bring out the green in green eyes really well. I ordered Morocco eye color to test this theory out, it's a pretty deep burgandy tone.

Thanks for the warning debmidge. I think this was the issue for me and Bare Minerals, my skin felt irritated and burned and itched on ocasion. So far the EM is not causing me any problems, I think the ingredients are a lot purer and less allergenic, for me anyway.

because any self-respecting makeup cult thread participant COULDN'T just let it sit there could they?!

Good grief girls...I haven't been able to get on the site all morning and I've got the sweats!

:lol::lol::lol::lol: Donna

...and you say you aren't SILLY enough, you have me laughing over the last 3 or so pages!

What!? What's this about CUTE mixing bowls. WHere are they?!

I saw the mixing jars...well didn't SEE them because there isn't a picture, but I saw ABOUT them. Where are the mixing bowls. If it's CUTE I have to check them out!!!

Okay, off to look for the bowls because I KNOW I can't wait until someone answers me. :P:lol:

Never mind...bowls found and in my cart.

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Interesting Reading: Clinical trial: B vitamins improve health in patients with coeliac disease living on a gluten-free diet https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19154566/ Safety and effectiveness of vitamin D mega-dose: A systematic review https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34857184/ High dose dietary vitamin D allocates surplus calories to muscle and growth instead of fat via modulation of myostatin and leptin signaling https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38766160/ Safety of High-Dose Vitamin D Supplementation: Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31746327/ Vitamins and Celiac Disease: Beyond Vitamin D https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11857425/ Investigating the therapeutic potential of tryptophan and vitamin A in modulating immune responses in celiac disease: an experimental study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40178602/ Investigating the Impact of Vitamin A and Amino Acids on Immune Responses in Celiac Disease Patients https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10814138/

Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!
    • knitty kitty
Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?

I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.
