I'm debating whether or not I should order.....I'm not sure if I am interested in all the freebies for this special and is a 5% discount really worth it? What if the next special contains free brushes???

Yeah, I figured if it's anything like it's been the next offer won't go up for a couple of weeks. By then I'll have a bunch more stuff I want anyway. I'm getting to the point where I'll be wanting to order some full sizes of my favorites, plus the brushes I want but don't have yet. And, I figure 5% is better than nothing, since a day or so ago, I was going to order anyway. :P

It sounds like Silk Dust is good stuff, an excellent primer, keeping the minerals in place and set, controls oil....

Am I right?

Well, I don't have the silk dust yet, but am ordering it...or did I order it...or is that the one in my wish list kit...I'm so confused. I have the finishing powder (I keep calling it dust, it's powder though).

Wow, great information. I tried the Tinted Silk Dust under my foundation today and it really does look great! Maybe it will work under my eye shadow and help it last longer?

Seems to really work on the eye. My left eye STILL has NO creasing (9 hours later)...the right eye is all splotchy, lol. I have very oily eyelids, so creasing is a problem with almost everything and every line of products, so for the left eye to not be creased is something. :P

So i just wanted to let everyone know I GOT MY STUFF TODAY!!!! it was there waiting for me when i got home on lunch!! so I will let you all know what i will be wearing tomorrow, when i get to work!!! now if only the other w-2 would come in...lol

Yay!!! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Green12 Enthusiast

YAY Jodi, glad you got your order!

:huh::huh:

Ok, now I am confused.

It is Finishing Dust, I have this also (the equivalent to BE Mineral Veil).

I thought you were talking about the Silk Dust, but I guess that was Mango and Jess??

Unless there is a Finishing Powder in a face color/blush or color corrector/concealer??

Well, the way I figure it, with my excellent math skills :D , 5% doesn't even make a difference since they upped the total after discount to $35, UNLESS you were planning to get way over $35 to begin with? So you are actually buying more and paying more  ....right??

Oh well, it's totally affordable anyhow, I mean $4-$8 containers that will last forever and ever.

I might have just talked myself into ordering

Well, it's in the Finishing Powder section, but it doesn't say it's a dust...I have Natural Reflection Fair...don't really know if it's a dust or a powder, lol, but since some of the others say "dust" I figured this was a "powder", lol.

Now, I'm confused too.

 (Pssst, yeah, I was planning to get way over $35 anyway :P )

Mango04 Enthusiast

Okay now I'm confused too :blink::wacko::lol:

There is a finishing powder called "Finishing Dust." That's the one with corn starch.

Then there's finishing powder called "Natural Reflections"

There's also finishing powder called "Silk Dust."

Sooo...I think Donna is using Natural Reflections finishing powder????

Green12 Enthusiast
Sooo...I think Donna is using Natural Reflections finishing powder????

Yes, it sounds like it.

And I am using Finishing Dust, from the Finishing Powder section.

Thus the confusion, I thought she was talking about Finishing Dust, she thought I understood she was referring to her Natural Reflections Finishing Powder. I just assumed anything called Finishing was the Finishing Dust

It's all very confusing, French, oui, de ja vous

My bad!

I went ahead and ordered. I want it here before I go out of town next week.

I was just happy to see a special at this point. It included things that I would not have ordered, so who knows I might like them. I didn't seem to do so great at picking things out myself, lol.

mftnchn Explorer

I'm using tinted silk dust as both primer and finishing powder and like it.

Sherry

mftnchn Explorer

Well I ordered but not enough to get the extra gift items. I am running low on the foundation I am now using as all I had was a sample.

So I got a mini kit and a sample kit:

Sun-kissed fair foundation, two small and one sample

two other lighter foundation samples

Splendid and Morning Cup blushes

Cherry Fizz lip gloss

Good China and Cool Breeze eye color

I am still playing with the colors, so look forward to getting all of these.

oooo fun order. I love Morning Cup. I wear it as blush and eyeshadow. It's a great brown for cooler skin (no orange in that one) :D

mftnchn Explorer

Good, I was hoping there was no orange! I've been using Wild Flowers for eyelid, I am thinking this might be similar but with more shimmer.

I am hoping the original glo will help. Today I forgot my extra moisturizer before putting on my makeup and I had the fine lines again even with the same color foundation. <_<

My EM came yesterday! I got Fairly LIght foundation, All Smiles blush, and Cool Pink finishing powder. Didn't order any eye shadow b/c my husband has started questioning me about all the shadows I already have and how am I ever gonna use them up! Will let you know how I like it! ;)

dlp252 Apprentice

Okay, today's new product: Eyebrow color. I ordered two, a darker and a lighter brown...I'm wearing the lighter brown. I originally ordered it thinking it would be a good eyeliner or smokey brown shadow, but I'm wearing it as it's intended too, lol. So I've got it on my eyebrows and on as a smokey liner. Looks great both ways. The color is Medium Brown I think. I can't imagine what the darker one will look like...the medium is pretty dark. :P I think I might also now order a lighter one as well.

Also have finishing POWDER  all over my face today as a primer and also as a finishing powder. :P

Great, ANOTHER blush to try!

Good morning ladies! I got my sample kit yesterday. I ordered the multi-tasking concealer, Multi-tasking Neutral in Original Glow, and fair and fair medium in Intensive for foundation, and corner office for blush. I LOVE corner office....I'm wearing it on my eyes, too. The concealer seems too light, I look like I have reverse racoon eyes. I like the foundation colors; I used Multi-Tasking last night, and it was nice, and today I mixed the other two, and they look good. I don't think I'm applying it right though, it just doesn't seem to cover well enough...perhaps it's my brush? It's a crappy one from Target, very floofy. It also seems to really show all the fine lines around my eyes....and I moisturized twice before applying this morning. What can help that? Silk dust underneath, I think I read? I'm about to order an I Can't Believe It kit and a few lips glosses. I think I'm getting:

Lips:

Cherry Fizz

Spring Pink

Eyes:

Starry Eyed

In The Garden

Cherry Fizz

Smokey Eyeliner

Face:

Nick Nack

Best Friends

Text Message

Accessories:

oval concealer brush

new flat top brush

Foundation:

multi-tasking neutral and fair in original glow

Concealer:

Sunlight Color Corrector

Finishing Powder:

Finishing Dust

What do you guys think of those products, if you have them?

Thanks!!!

dlp252 Apprentice

Shannon, FUN order!

So here's what I think of the products

Lips:

Cherry Fizz -- Like this one the best of all the glosses

Spring Pink -- too light for my complexion apparently, I may try it one more time with some clear gloss over it to see if that helps

Eyes:

Starry Eyed -- LOVE this!

In The Garden -- Pretty good, like it too

Cherry Fizz -- VERY nice and also looks good as a blush

Smokey Eyeliner --LOVE this too!

Face:

Nick Nack -- almost tied for my most favorite color blush...it's just slightly below Pink Ribbon, but only slightly

Best Friends -- haven't tried yet

Text Message -- haven't tried yet

Accessories:

oval concealer brush -- Haven't tried this yet

new flat top brush -- Not tried yet

Foundation:

multi-tasking neutral and fair in original glow -- I've got it in Matte and like it very much.

Concealer:

Sunlight Color Corrector -- LOVE this...my new best friend, lol. Really takes the dark circles away for me.

Finishing Powder:

Finishing Dust -- haven't tried this yet, but I have a finishing powder and like it very much

Shannon, I've been dealing with the fine lines issue too.

Try very small light coatings, then repeat them, buffing in well.

Try a lighter foundation. I first liked multi tasking, but am now using sun kissed fair and have less lines if I moisturize well. I am also using semi matte but am going to try original glo which I hope will help.

I also added a moisturizer, so I use two.

Be sure your skin care is including enough exfoliation btw.

I am still trying to find the trick...but did get a couple days without lines recently.

Sherry

Mango04 Enthusiast

For the folks dealing with fine lines....try applying your foundation wet. You only need a tiny bit of water and a tiny bit of minerals...and it's like a magic eraser! I love it! :D

Jestgar Rising Star

Whoever suggested using the new car smell as an eyeshadow - fabulous!! Works perfect for casual friday. I also brushed a bit into my eyebrows to complete the 'autumn' color scheme.

hum...that is a good idea.

So you all would not believe (okay maybe you would by now) how many colors I had to use to achieve my no make-up casual Friday look today :lol:

Multi-tasking intensive foundation applied wet

DVR blush (this one instantly fades and turns brown/orangish on me  )

Daydream blush

Light Pink blush

Intensive Fair concealer

Sunlight concealer

Pots and Pans eyeshadow

Bedtime story eyeshadow

Finishing Dust

Hey it's only three blushes and two eye shadows :rolleyes:

I don't think I'm applying it right though, it just doesn't seem to cover well enough...perhaps it's my brush? It's a crappy one from Target, very floofy.

A stiffer brush works best for foundation/face color with mineral make-up, like a kabuki brush or a flat top brush.

For basic coverage start with just a little bit of minerals and work it into your brush, tap off the excess and then buff all over your face, in small circles. The buffing makes all the difference. Repeat with another layer if needed.

Then there all kinds of other tricks and tips for your desired coverage beyond that, for example applying the foundation wet, applying a finishing powder under the foundation, or a concealer, etc. You can play with that to figure out what you like best.

Your flooffy brush might be ideal for blush :)

Morning Cup sounds good--I may have to try that too.

Sherry's point about exfoliating is a great tip. I've gotten back into doing this, and it makes a difference.

I agree Patti.

Thanks Sherry for bringing that up!

I have an Apricot Facial Scrub that I use and it really helps slough off those dead skin cells.

The result is a smoother makeup application :)

I have been using Dove's Energy Glo Exfoliating Face Wash for a week now, and like it very much.

I agree, it so often overlooked! I live in the UK and I have often wondered why doctors are so reluctant to at least exclude it - my thoughts are perhaps the particular tests are expensive for the NHS, so therefore saved for people with 'obvious' symptoms.  I was diagnosed in 2013 and was told immediately that my parents, sibling and children should be checked.  My parents' GP to this day has not put forward my father for testing, and my mother was never tested in her lifetime, despite the fact that they both have some interesting symptoms/family history that reflect they might have coeliac disease (Dad - extreme bloating, and his Mum clearly had autoimmune issues, albeit undiagnosed as such; Mum - osteoporosis, anxiety).  I am now my father' legal guardian and suspecting my parents may have forgotten to ask their GP for a test (which is entirely possible!) I put it to his last GP that he ought to be tested.  He looked at Dad's blood results and purely because he was not anemic said he wasn't a coeliac.  Hopefully as the awareness of Coeliac Disease spreads among the general public, people will be able to advocate for themselves.  It is hard because in the UK the NHS is very stretched, but the fallout from not being diagnosed in a timely fashion will only cost the NHS more money. Interestingly, a complete aside, I met someone recently whose son was diagnosed (I think she said he was 8).  At a recent birthday party with 8 guests, 4 boys out of the 8 had received diagnosis of Coeliac Disease, which is an astounding statistic  As far as I know, though, they had all had obvious gastric symptoms leading to their NHS diagnosis.  In my own case I had  acute onset anxiety, hypnopompic hallucinations (vivid hallucinations upon waking),  odd liver function, anxiety, headaches, ulcers and low iron but it wasn't until the gastric symptoms hit me that a GP thought to do coeliac testing, and my numbers were through the roof.  As @trents says, by the grace of God I was diagnosed, and the diet has pretty much dealt with most of those symptoms.  I have much to be grateful for. @xxnonamexx, There's labeling on those Trubar gluten free high fiber protein bars that say: "Manufactured in a facility that also processes peanuts, milk, soy, fish, WHEAT, sesame, and other tree nuts." You may want to avoid products made in shared facilities.   If you are trying to add more fiber to your diet to ease constipation, considering eating more leafy green vegetables and cruciferous vegetables.  Not only are these high in fiber, they also are good sources of magnesium.  Many newly diagnosed are low in magnesium and B vitamins and suffer with constipation.  Thiamine Vitamin B1 and magnesium work together.  Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine has been shown to improve intestinal health.  Thiamine and magnesium are important to gastrointestinal health and function.

Welcome to celiac.com @sha1091a! Your experience is a very common one. Celiac disease is one the most underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed medical conditions out there. The reasons are numerous. One key one is that its symptoms mimic so many other diseases. Another is ignorance on the part of the medical community with regard to the range of symptoms that celiac disease can produce. Clinicians often are only looking for classic GI symptoms and are unaware of the many other subsystems in the body that can be damaged before classic GI symptoms manifest, if ever they do. Many celiacs are of the "silent" variety and have few if any GI symptoms while all along, damage is being done to their bodies. In my case, the original symptoms were elevated liver enzymes which I endured for 13 years before I was diagnosed with celiac disease. By the grace of God my liver was not destroyed. It is common for the onset of the disease to happen 10 years before you ever get a diagnosis. Thankfully, that is slowly changing as there has developed more awareness on the part of both the medical community and the public in the past 20 years or so. Blessings!

@EndlessSummer, You said you had an allergy to trees.  People with Birch Allergy can react to green beans (in the legume family) and other vegetables, as well as some fruits.  Look into Oral Allergy Syndrome which can occur at a higher rate in Celiac Disease.   Switching to a low histamine diet for a while can give your body time to rid itself of the extra histamine the body makes with Celiac disease and histamine consumed in the diet.   Vitamin C and the eight B vitamins are needed to help the body clear histamine.   Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?

I found out the age of 68 that I am a celiac. When I was 16, I had my gallbladder removed when I was 24 I was put on a medication because I was told I had fibromyalgia.   going to Doctor’s over many years, not one of them thought to check me out for celiac disease. I am aware that it only started being tested by bloodwork I believe in the late 90s, but still I’m kind of confused why my gallbladder my joint pain flatulent that I complained of constantly was totally ignored. Is it not something that is taught to our medical system? It wasn’t a Doctor Who asked for the test to be done. I asked for it because of something I had read and my test came back positive. My number was quite high. Are there other people out here that had this kind of problems and they were ignored?
