You are safe Paula...I am waiting until the 25th before I order anything, lol.

Wow, what a boring special.

Okay, so I think I've mentioned before how the eye colors don't really show on me...the lighter ones all look the same and the darker ones just sort of make my eyes look dirty...I was reading a thread about this very thing on the EM sight...and someone mentioned something about rubbing. Well a thought came into my head about applying it with my fingers. When I do this on my arm (to test a color), it always looks suitably pigmented and pretty, so this weekend I did all my eye shadows with my finger.

Whoala, it worked, lol. I could actually "see" some color even with the lighter shades. I haven't tried any of the dark colors yet...just been using the one color each day, but it's kind of nice to actually be able to tell what color I'm wearing, lol. So, now I'm retrying all the shades I didn't like before to see if it makes a difference having it be more pigmented.

Today's color was Baby Bath. Nothing really wrong with this color, it just didn't show up on me, so today I used my finger to apply, and while it still isn't a "color" it showed up a little better.

Okay, off to check the EM website...changes in the kits already, lol... see what I get for not turning on my computer all weekend?!

This morning i decided to try all smiles again lol. I was thinking hey maybe it isnt that bad of color and i do need the special lmao. Well i do like it better this time, maybe cause i have my foundation down pat now. But i have to see if my cheeks turn orange before the end of the day lol.

I use my finger alot on the eye shadows and it does help out. Today i put on a cute little blue shirt on so i figured i needed to play with the blues again lol. I put on chamiole as base then swing set on bottom (never been opened yet) and on the phone on the outer. At least i think those are the two colors. And then bedtime story under the brow it kinda blend them all in lol.

Hello Online Makeup Friends!

I went to the site and my cart is EMPTY! I guess it was full for so long without an order - they emptied it! I couldn't tell you what was in it, but it took a long time to get everything I wanted in it! I guess I'll have to start over.

I don't like this special at all. I'll have to try the pressed powder some time, but I like the loose powder for now. No DISCOUNT! Wow!

I don't wear much makeup over the summer so I'm not sure when I will order next. Seems like a good time to play the waiting game and see what actually comes out with the new website we keep hearing about.

Hope you all have a great day!!!

Hi make-up friends! I mean, hi gluten-free make-up friends! LOL

So I have a crisis! Okay, not really....but....I've almost gone through an entire large container of foundation in about a month and a half. I think that's a slightly psychotic amount of foundation. Anyway, it's okay because I have one back-up, but after that I am going to have to start paying customs fees for my dang make-up. I am not happy about this, but that's okay. I will order mass quantities of multi-tasking neutral next time to avoid the possibility of running out.

Well, I just wanted to say hello to my gluten-free make-up friends (I can't believe we've managed to stay in a real forum category all this time  )

My jacket is still part blue, part multi-tasking. I must figure out what to do about this.

Okay well, I'm off to go visit the EM website - don't ban me from the cult-but I seriously have not been on the website in weeks! :o

Oh no, OH NO!!!!! Must go check to see if my stuff is still in there....crossing fingers.

Joni, what a dilemma. I did the same, took weeks and weeks to make my selections and I didn't have them committed to memory. I would have to start over as well :( Major bummer!!!

HELLO Mango :D How is Prague?

That's also a major bummer about the custom fees, but hopefully the regular cost of EM plus the custom fees will still be cheaper than BE, or another higher priced make-up brand.

Ok this is depressing. I just went over to the site cause i was thinking heck all i have to spend is 25 for the special, I can do that. Well i cant find anything that i need or want. This cant be a good thing, can it. They hetter add lots to the new website cause i will be so sad if there is nothing left for me to buy.

LOL I don't know. You should see the post office here. It's like going to Jupiter. Nothing makes sense, and they pretty much just charge random amounts depending on how they feel that day  Oh well, I will still not switch back to BE. EM is just too nice to my skin :D :D

True, they are beginning to take us for granted lol.

I have had the same problem. I am now using a combination technique of wetting my brush and smoothing with my finger, and I am really liking it better.

Okay, so the EM site has a thread about knowing when you are an EM addict...

I HAD to post some of ours, lol. I didn't post them all, just ones that I personally have experienced, lol...if you'd like to post more of them, feel free.

 Donna. Your post over there cracked me up.

Okay so have you guys been talking about the latest special? (I'm behind, sorry  ) They have pressed blush now? That is kind of exciting, right?:lol:

And....does anyone have Ivory foundation? Is it darker than Fair Neutral? If I'm going to order more foundation, I might as well not make it easy on myself.

dlp252 Apprentice

Hum, I have Fair Neutral (Buff??), but I have no comment on my spreadsheet, lol. I also don't have a checkmark in any of my 3 columns: Love, SoSo, or Hate, lol.

I've used Fairly Light Neutral...that looked good on me...okay, that was the background for...

Ivory--Ivory was a little light for me, but the day I wore it, everyone kept complimenting me on how I looked, lol. So, compared to Fairly Light Neutral, I'd say Ivory is a little lighter.

Haven't really answered your question have I...must go home and find out what happened to my Fair Neutral and why I haven't tried it yet, lol.

Yes, Ivory is a little darker than Fair Neutral. I find a little Ivory with whatever foundations I am mixing up just adds a little something nice. I am not sure how to describe it.

Hello fellow addicts!

Today's revisit. Bird House. Very nice applied with finger, lol! In fact, my intent was to just wear foundation, blush a little eye color and lip gloss...no mascara or liner, but after getting the Bird House on it screamed, feed me, so I put on a little mascara, then a little In the Garden as a liner. Very nice, lol.

And, may I just say that I think Nick Nack has surpassed all others as my favorite blush, lol!

OMGOSH!!!!!! Just a few more days....!!!! Whooooppppiiiieeeee!

There is a thread on EM from someone saying that Carina posted a news blog that says the website is on schedule! Yay!

Green12 Enthusiast

I checked my cart yesterday and thankfully everything was still there, phew! I copied it and saved it just in case it is cleared in the the next few days.

So sorry Joni you couldn't save yours :( I logged in to my account a handful of times over the last several weeks and rearranged my cart, I don't know if this makes a difference why my contents were still there and your's weren't?

3 MORE DAYS!!!! YAY! :D:D

cruelshoes Enthusiast

I am counting the days to the new website. I share with you my masterpiece. Yes, I have no life.

'Twas the day before the new EM site, and all through the forum

All the cult members were showing lots of decorum.

The carts were all filled with their orders with care,

in hopes that the new EM website soon would be there.

The girls were nestled all snug in their beds,

while visions of Chit Chat danced in their heads.

And Mango in her blue jacket with the EM stains, and DLP252 in her cap,

had just settled their brains for a long winter's nap.

When out on the internet there arose such a clatter,

They sprang from their beds to see what was the matter.

Away to their keyboards they flew like a flash,

turned on their monitors, and counted their EM stash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow

gave the lustre of midday to their sparkly eyeshadow below,

when, what to their wondering eyes should appear,

but a brand new EM website. The girls gave a cheer!

With a little shopping cart, so lively and quick,

They knew in a moment their favorites they

Omg colleen, that was so cool and funny. I loved it.

I hope i can add stuff to my cart, it is still empty and have nothing to put in it lol

I keep putting the same two things in my cart, then deleting them, then adding a kit and adding THREE things to it, then deleting, lol. Sheesh!

My duaghter ordered Bird House. It's been sitting here all this time unopened. I'll have to get after her so I can try it.

Glad yours was still there. Great idea to copy and save it. You never know with all the changes going on over there. I haven't touched my cart in quite a while, maybe they only allow the cart full for so long??? I'm bummed though, I really don't know everything that was in it. Oh well, it is always fun filling up the cart anyway!

3 DAYS - WOOOHOOOO! Glad to hear it is on schedule - that's a huge relief!!!

I think the EM Production Calander they are doing is a great idea. I will love seeing what is coming up in the future. It's a cool idea!

Welcome to the forum, @Judy M! Yes, he definitely needs to continue eating gluten until the day of the endoscopy. Not sure why the GI doc advised otherwise but it was a bum steer.  Celiac disease has a genetic component but also an "epigenetic" component. Let me explain. There are two main genes that have been identified as providing the "potential" to develop "active" celiac disease. We know them as HLA-DQ 2.5 (aka, HLA-DQ 2) and HLA-DQ8. Without one or both of these genes it is highly unlikely that a person will develop celiac disease at some point in their life. About 40% of the general population carry one or both of these two genes but only about 1% of the population develops active celiac disease. Thus, possessing the genetic potential for celiac disease is far less than deterministic. Most who have the potential never develop the disease. In order for the potential to develop celiac disease to turn into active celiac disease, some triggering stress event or events must "turn on" the latent genes. This triggering stress event can be a viral infection, some other medical event, or even prolonged psychological/emotional trauma. This part of the equation is difficult to quantify but this is the epigenetic dimension of the disease. Epigenetics has to do with the influence that environmental factors and things not coded into the DNA itself have to do in "turning on" susceptible genes. And this is why celiac disease can develop at any stage of life. Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition (not a food allergy) that causes inflammation in the lining of the small bowel. The ingestion of gluten causes the body to attack the cells of this lining which, over time, damages and destroys them, impairing the body's ability to absorb nutrients since this is the part of the intestinal track responsible for nutrient absorption and also causing numerous other food sensitivities such as dairy/lactose intolerance. There is another gluten-related disorder known as NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity or just, "gluten sensitivity") that is not autoimmune in nature and which does not damage the small bowel lining. However, NCGS shares many of the same symptoms with celiac disease such as gas, bloating, and diarrhea. It is also much more common than celiac disease. There is no test for NCGS so, because they share common symptoms, celiac disease must first be ruled out through formal testing for celiac disease. This is where your husband is right now. It should also be said that some experts believe NCGS can transition into celiac disease. I hope this helps.

My husband has had lactose intolerance for his entire life (he's 68 yo).  So, he's used to gastro issues. But for the past year he's been experiencing bouts of diarrhea that last for hours.  He finally went to his gastroenterologist ... several blood tests ruled out other maladies, but his celiac results are suspect.  He is scheduled for an endoscopy and colonoscopy in 2 weeks.  He was told to eat "gluten free" until the tests!!!  I, and he know nothing about this "diet" much less how to navigate his in daily life!! The more I read, the more my head is spinning.  So I guess I have 2 questions.  First, I read on this website that prior to testing, eat gluten so as not to compromise the testing!  Is that true? His primary care doctor told him to eat gluten free prior to testing!  I'm so confused.  Second, I read that celiac disease is genetic or caused by other ways such as surgery.  No family history but Gall bladder removal 7 years ago, maybe?  But how in God's name does something like this crop up and now is so awful he can't go a day without worrying.  He still works in Manhattan and considers himself lucky if he gets there without incident!  Advice from those who know would be appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

You've done an excellent job of meticulously tracking the rash's unpredictable behavior, from its symmetrical spread and stubborn scabbing to the potential triggers you've identified, like the asthma medication and dietary changes. It's particularly telling that the rash seems to flare with wheat consumption, even though your initial blood test was negative—as you've noted, being off wheat before a test can sometimes lead to a false negative, and your description of the other symptoms—joint pain, brain fog, stomach issues—is very compelling. The symmetry of the rash is a crucial detail that often points toward an internal cause, such as an autoimmune response or a systemic reaction, rather than just an external irritant like a plant or mites. I hope your doctor tomorrow takes the time to listen carefully to all of this evidence you've gathered and works with you to find some real answers and effective relief. Don't be discouraged if the rash fluctuates; your detailed history is the most valuable tool you have for getting an accurate diagnosis.

In this case the beer is excellent, but for those who are super sensitive it is likely better to go the full gluten-free beer route. Lakefront Brewery (another sponsor!) has good gluten-free beer made without any gluten ingredients.
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @catsrlife! Celiac disease can be diagnosed without committing to a full-blown "gluten challenge" if you get a skin biopsy done during an active outbreak of dermatitis herpetiformis, assuming that is what is causing the rash. There is no other known cause for dermatitis herpetiformis so it is definitive for celiac disease. You would need to find a dermatologist who is familiar with doing the biopsy correctly, however. The samples need to be taken next to the pustules, not on them . . . a mistake many dermatologists make when biopsying for dermatitis herpetiformis.
