Medical Gloves

I started work in a dental office in August, and was feeling pretty good after being gluten free for5 months. However, about two weeks into the job, I started having increasingly bad brain fog and problems with my eyes. Sometimes my whole upper jaw will just ache, even though I have no cold or tooth problems. I use the powder free gloves but the dentists uses powdered. Does anyone know if the powder in the air could be causing my problems? I feel like I am being paranoid and am afraid everyone else will think I'm insane if I ask him to use non-powdered. By the way, non-powdered are still slightly powdered-are they not? If anyone has information on this, it would be greatly appreciated. If there is gluten in gloves that is making me sick, I need something I can show the doctor-and I where the heck would you find gluten free gloves??

Thanks everyone,

Stacy

The "powder" in gloves is cornstarch, not wheat. Maybe you have a sensitivity to latex? There are lots of latex free brends of gloves available.

Can you get the makers name off of the box and call them and ask about the gloves? Most are going to be okay but on occasion the powder will be a problem. The best way to tell would be by calling. Something else you may want to look at is the soap you use and any lotions that are by the sink. The last time I was able to find a celiac savvy dentist she had to order special gloves and lots of other products for me because much of what they usually used was not safe. Heck this doctor even checked the cotton balls! She left me sitting in the chair while she called even though I told her not to bother as I was pretty sure there would be no problem with them. Unfortunately she was not a permanent addition to the office so I am once again without a dentist. I went once to see her patner, one of the many that think celiac is a bunk, he did nothing but touch my gums with gluteny gloves and I had blisters on my gums before I even got home. It was lunch time and I know this sounds awful but I think he did it on purpose to prove that gluten CC wasn't a problem.

His partner was the only dentist in over 5 years to take celiac seriously and the only one who hasn't poisoned me.

I would call to make sure, you just never know these days. I know the majority of the gloves where I work are latex free.

I used to use those gloves every day. I'd come home with itchy eyes and nose and lips. I never figured out the cause was and never connected it to celiac. I thought it was just talc or some kind of powder in the gloves.

Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
