Ok, why would you need to close your eyes to like David Cook? I think he's freakin adorable. And Paula was right when she said women like smart men. I wouldn't want Tennis Boy to father my children, sorry. I'd pick the guy who understands me when I use big words. And he's so cute!

:lol: Different taste... I don't care for the greasy, just woke up out of bed look that he has. I said I liked him better when I only had to listen to him. Who is Tennis Boy?:lol:

I never did finish watching last week's performances.

Who is Tennis Boy? :lol::lol:

I assume Tennis Boy is Michael Johns.

I'm so out of the loop, lol. I haven't been watching at all since they stopped airing at 8:00...I guess I need to set my recorder so I can at least see the performances, lol.

I do tend to find that my tastes differ from a lot of women's. I actually don't think Michael Johns is attractive at all, he sneers when he sings. Totally puts me off. 'Tennis Boy' was referring to a promo spot they ran about a guy who's 'surpising thing about himself' is that he plays tennis. Gee, that's fascinating. I don't remember which one of them that was though, it's kinda funny if it's Michael Johns.

In that case I vote for Tennis Boy

Yeah Michael is an athlete, he has played a lot of different sports but went to college on a tennis scholarship. He also has been a tennis intructor the last few years.

I like Michael Johns too. :)

I thought everyone did pretty well last night. It wasn't my favorite from David Cook, but even his average is pretty darn good.

My favorite performances were Michael Johns and Jason Castro.

I'm going to pull a Randy and say that everyone else "was just allright for me"

They weren't bad, but they didn't blow me away either.

I think that makes three of us in the Micahel Johns fan club now

Jason Castro blew me away last night. I think that was by far his best performance. I love that version of Somewhere over the Rainbow and he did it beautifully.

I agree. It was amazing and Jason sang it so beautifully.

That is one of my favorite songs, the version that he sang of Iz Kamakawiwoʻole's.

Mmmmm... Me too. I get choked up every time I hear it. Last night was no exception. The original version of the song just doesn't have the same passion as Iz's.

My 6 year old niece wanted to know if Paula was embarassed because of her boobs falling out. I found that to be an odd choice of a dress (or shirt, what was it?).

Did anyone who watched Idol Gives Back think CELIAC when that poor autoimmune disease riddled family was on?

I didn't see the show, but I did see a clip of Michael Johns singing Aerosmith and that's the first time I've liked him. I still don't think he's attractive though. He just looks... tense. I gotta look up the clips of the other performances. I do like Jason Castro, he's the kinda guy I'd go see in a cabaret setting, not the kinda guy who sells out civic centres. I shouldn't say that though, because I saw John Andrasik from Five for Fighting in a multi-artist concert in a huge civic centre and he just played his piano and he had EVERYONE'S attention. So maybe JAson Castro really could 'get there'. I also think he's a STONER!

And I love Iz too, anybody heard Eva Cassidy's version?

I'll join that club. He's my favorite, out of the guys.

That was my favorite performance the other night. The rest were just all right for me too. I won't surprise you all by saying that I really did not like David Cook, even with my eyes closed.

 Cheri

I also tivod it, so I'll look for that family you are talking about Angie.

I peeked in this thread to see who got kicked off, but I guess they didn't do it last night on the special? I noticed on the tv schedule there is an extra show this week on tonight for the elimination.

Geesh, these two and three nights a week shows are killing me trying to keep up!

:o:o:( Unbelieveable!!

Yes, I agree! Currently, I work part-time some nights. When I'm home, we rarely turn the TV on until after 9:00 p.m.. Thank goodness for Tivo!!

Okay, so who went home, lol? I didn't see the show last night and didn't record it. :(

I know! :( He was my favorite....that was wrong. :( I really thought Kayesha or the Irish girl should have gone.

Wow, that really is a shocker!!!! I really liked how he did his song too.

I totally thought Syesha was going to go... What a shocker! I really hope Carly gets the boot soon. lol

I thought so too. I am not liking Carly as much as I used too. I still really like Brooke.

Welcome to the celiac.com communiuty, @Matthias! Yes, we have been aware that this can be an issue with mushrooms but as long as they are rinsed thoroughly it should not be a problem since the mushrooms don't actually incorporate the gluten into their cellular structure. For the same reason, one needs to be careful when buying aged cheeses and products containing yeast because of the fact that they are sometimes cultured on gluten-containing substrate.

The one kind of food I had been buying and eating without any worry for hidden gluten were unprocessed veggies. Well, yesterday I discovered yet another pitfall: cultivated mushrooms. I tried some new ones, Shimeji to be precise (used in many asian soup and rice dishes). Later, at home, I was taking a closer look at the product: the mushrooms were growing from a visible layer of shredded cereals that had not been removed. After a quick web research I learned that these mushrooms are commonly cultivated on a cereal-based medium like wheat bran. I hope that info his helpful to someone.

I might suggest you consider buckwheat groats. https://www.amazon.com/Anthonys-Organic-Hulled-Buckwheat-Groats/dp/B0D15QDVW7/ref=sr_1_4_pp?crid=GOFG11A8ZUMU&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.bk-hCrXgLpHqKS8QJnfKJLKbKzm2BS9tIFv3P9HjJ5swL1-02C3V819UZ845_kAwnxTUM8Qa69hKl0DfHAucO827k_rh7ZclIOPtAA9KjvEEYtaeUV06FJQyCoi5dwcfXRt8dx3cJ6ctEn2VIPaaFd0nOye2TkASgSRtdtKgvXEEXknFVYURBjXen1Nc7EtAlJyJbU8EhB89ElCGFPRavEQkTFHv9V2Zh1EMAPRno7UajBpLCQ-1JfC5jKUyzfgsf7jN5L6yfZSgjhnwEbg6KKwWrKeghga8W_CAhEEw9N0.eDBrhYWsjgEFud6ZE03iun0-AEaGfNS1q4ILLjZz7Fs&dib_tag=se&keywords=buckwheat%2Bgroats&qid=1769980587&s=grocery&sprefix=buchwheat%2Bgroats%2Cgrocery%2C249&sr=1-4&th=1 Takes about 10 minutes to cook. Incidentally, I don't like quinoa either. Reminds me and smells to me like wet grass seed. When its not washed before cooking it makes me ill because of saponins in the seed coat. Yes, it can be difficult to get much dietary calcium without dairy. But in many cases, it's not the amount of calcium in the diet that is the problem but the poor uptake of it. And too much calcium supplementation can interfere with the absorption of vitamins and minerals in general because it raises gut pH.

What you’re describing really does not read like typical IBS-D. The dramatic, rapid normalization of stool frequency and form after removing wheat, along with improved tolerance of legumes and plant foods, is a classic pattern seen in gluten-driven disease rather than functional IBS. IBS usually worsens with fiber and beans, not improves. The fact that you carry HLA-DQ2.2 means celiac disease is absolutely possible, even if it’s less common than DQ2.5, and many people with DQ2.2 present later and are under-diagnosed. Your hesitation to reintroduce gluten is completely understandable — quality of life matters — and many people in your position choose to remain strictly gluten-free and treat it as medically necessary even without formal biopsy confirmation. If and when you’re ready, a physician can help you weigh options like limited gluten challenge, serology history, or documentation as “probable celiac.” What’s clear is that this wasn’t just random IBS — you identified the trigger, and your body has been very consistent in its response.
