Hmmmm...how Did This Happen?....

Something has happened quite suddenly, and it's quite maddening not knowing how to fix it. I immediately tried hitting the "standard" button, but even this isn't fixing things. When I am composing a reply or a new post, the font is suddenly quite small (probably a "1"). I cannot change the font size....when I try to change to 2, I get the square brackets with "2". The emoticons are written in text, and I cannot underline or italicize anything. I get "i" in square brackets, and "u" in square brackets. I've obviously hit something that's put a new setting in. Anybody know how I did this?

Emily,

As you know, you most likely will have to wait for Peter or Tom. I am of no help, sorry.

Is it possible you somehow got into the "lo-fi version" of the forum?

Hmmmmmm dunno if that'd even explain it.

What's happening certainly seems to suggest "lo-fi". There's a low and high version? Is it a button I could have inadvertently hit? How do I switch it?

....Maybe it's the Chrome in my registration...<_<

I was going to ask if it started when you "disable" something to fix your other problem. . . ?

Emily! Please don't break the forum!

Emily--

Maybe PM Scott? Coulda been the Chrome thing, too. But you've been ok since you got that figured out, right?

I see other sillies scooted over here to weigh in

OK, I see Patti is posting too (no HubbaHubba, though). . . let's see if we have the same answer . . .

When you are in the posting mode window, at the upper right is a button with two (circular?) arrows on it. It toggles between standard and rich text editors. Try clicking that button.

Nope--your answer was much better! :D

Aha!!! My money's on Janet's solution.

I don't have that button while using the Sidekick.

Emily, in the version you saw today, what you were seeing with those square brackets is the raw BBCode format tags. For those who are familiar with BBCode, it is possible to do things in that mode that are difficult or impossible to achevieve in the other mode.

Open Original Shared Link

Even in the "normal" mode you can insert BBCode tags. I do it all the time, but of course you only ever see the results.

When you click on the preview post button, all the valid tags are processed into their effects; if any remain it is because they are mismatched or otherwise invalid.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
