well i FINALLY did it ... i went to pf changs. on a date with my husband none the less. all of the posts got to me and i felt i needed to check it out first hand. and it was a fantastic experience! the food was incredible. the staff made me feel confident they understood my gluten intolerance and their ability to prepare my food safely. if you haven't tried this restaurant yet i highly recommend it.

and i highly recommend the chicken lettuce wraps. :D i can't wait to go again! hee! :):)

Good for you. I am glad the experience was good. I always get the General Pso (sp?) chicken and the green beans with garlic. Yum. I wish they had one closer to me as it is a 45 minute drive but well worth it.

I had a really good experience when i went to PF changs, too.

I was really antsy and nervous about eating out after 4 months of not eating out, but the staff made me feel more confident.

there was nothing on the gluten free menu that i could even eat as such, but they made me chicken with bok choy and spinich with no salt (have to avoid iodine because of my dermititas herpetiformis, i've found out)

It was actually really good, even though it sounds boring!?

it was nice knowing they were taking my request for no salt seriously!

Yum!!

We went to PF Changs post dxn and had a super yummy dinner, I got really sick the next day and I thought it was gluten but everyone said they are SUPER careful. Well a few months later found out I was allergic to soy, so I am sure that was what it was.

I am very very very sad I probably can't eat there anymore :(. I miss soy sauce and chinese type food.

there are others here allergic to soy and they said they can still eat there as long as you let them know gluten AND soy. :)

I know this thread is older, but I wanted to share my experience at PF Changs.

Overall it was a great experience---my first experience with a restaurant since having to go gluten free. The manager and waitress appeared knowledgeable and the protocol the manager described was very good.

When the meal was served (I was with people who didn't have to avoid gluten) was where a problem occurred, but it didn't register with me until after the food was served, and since I'm not super sensitive and I was starving after a day shopping, I didn't worry with it. You see, the waitress was not the one serving the food. It's all well and great to have special plates denoting gluten free, but when a server handles all the gluten regular plates when serving, before handling the gluten free plate, there is a chance of cross contamination that could pose a problem for someone who is super sensitive. Considering how full the tray was with platters, one would have to wonder about that as well.

I didn't feel so great later in the evening, but the D and fatigue could have been just from my day out. I keep meaning to speak with someone at that PF Changs, but life keeps getting in the way.

I'm glad that many have great success at their PF Changs and I think the restaurant does a pretty good job, but I did want to mention this so perhaps the restaurants can be educated on this. Next time I get up the nerve to eat out I think I'm going to ask that they make sure to serve my food first on a separate trip. (I do tip accordingly. :) )

I just did some research on the Hot Mustard Sauce at PF Changs and although the server may tell you the mustard sauce is ok, it is defintiely NOT Gluten free. The chef confirmed for me they use regular soy sauce in it when they make their batches and they don't make any special batches with the wheat free soy sauce. So be Careful!

He is not just a psychiatrist.  He is also a neuroscientist.  And yes, I have already read those studies.   I agree with benfotiamine.  This is short term while glutened/inflammation occurs.  As I had already mentioned, these symptoms no longer exist when this phase passes.  And yes, I know that celiac is a disease of malnutrition.  We are working with a naturopath.

Please do more research before you settle on nicotine. Dr. Paul New house is a psychiatrist.  His latest study involves the effect of nicotine patches on Late Life Depression which has reached no long term conclusions about the benefits.   Effects of open-label transdermal nicotine antidepressant augmentation on affective symptoms and executive function in late-life depression https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39009312/   I'm approaching the subject from the Microbiologist's point of view which shows nicotine blocks Thiamine B1 uptake and usage:   Chronic Nicotine Exposure In Vivo and In Vitro Inhibits Vitamin B1 (Thiamin) Uptake by Pancreatic Acinar Cells https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26633299/   While supplementation with thiamine in the form Benfotiamine can protect from damage done by  nicotine: Benfotiamine attenuates nicotine and uric acid-induced vascular endothelial dysfunction in the rat https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18951979/   I suggest you study the beneficial effects of Thiamine (Benfotiamine and TTFD) on the body and mental health done by Dr. Derrick Lonsdale and Dr. Chandler Marrs.  Dr. Lonsdale had studied thiamine over fifty years.   Hiding in Plain Sight: Modern Thiamine Deficiency https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8533683/ I suggest you read their book Thiamine Deficiency Disease, Dysautonomia, and High Calorie Malnutrition.     Celiac Disease is a disease of malabsorption causing malnutrition.  Thiamine and benfotiamine: Focus on their therapeutic potential https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10682628/

Thanks for your response.  Everything you mentioned he is and has been doing.  Tobacco is not the same as nicotine.  Nicotine, in the form of a patch, does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.  Smoking does. He is not smoking.  Please do your research before stating false information. Dr. Paul Newhouse has been doing research on nicotine the last 40 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have. It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.
