I spent most of my day at the library with Clifford, Curious George and listening to a band singing math songs to classic rock songs (ex. Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith was Calculators) and then we took the girls for ice cream (soft serve blueberry...yum!!!). Anyway that meant a quick dinner of hot dogs on Udis buns with roasted garlic and sea salt chips and coleslaw (cabbage, carrots and apple with a honey mustard vinegarette).

Alex, that sounds like a perfect day to me!!!

I'm an "old school". dinosaur.  I  still like "holding" books while I read them and I like libraries. too  and I hope they do not become extinct in our techno world.

Dinner tonight will be roast pork with onions and garlic and baked sweet potatoes and maybe baby peas.

Taking the day off from physical labor. I'm pooped.

Good Morning All!

Wonderful day yesterday except I flipped a kayak so my mobile is resting in the oven with hydrogen peroxide on its little connections - likely dead but hought id give it until tomorrow to spring back.

Cakes were awesome - cake makes everybody happy :)

Ive got several slices of each left - stop on by for a piece along with a cup of Jo!

Celiac results in celibacy --

Health reverses the process :D

Edit to add I kindle sucks - it changed ive words in my post - will hop back by when I get back to my laptop.

Libraries are awesome! Nothing can compare to the smell of one and while I have an ereader, which got me through some of the roughest times when I was so sick I could barely stand to hold even it, nothing can compare to an actual book. Of course, you can't get the classics for free on paper which was my primary reason for my ereader. I've read so many free books that I have far exceeded the cost of the thing, so although I rarely touch it these days I don't feel bad at all.

I'm feeling exceedingly lazy today. I may just tell my husband to eat whatever he wants and finish off my chicken pot pie. He has a stash of pizzas and there is that spare meatloaf if he feels like that would make him happy.

I'm going to make a cake...

chili is chili-ing, perfect day for it as it has been raining for 2 days.  yesterday i made bette hagman's vinegar pie crust for the first time trying pie crust of any kind.  it's in the friger and it looks normal :)  i'm not sure whether i want to fool with it in front of the hubs - plastic wrap is not my friend.  but i may need someone to cut it off me should i become dangerously entangled.....  hmmmmm....

i has pie crust.  i am mad with power.  pie crust power, that is  ;)

I am not the only with saran wrap issues, I see.

Bette Hagman rocks! First woman of gluten-free baking.

If you do not like her version for any reason, I HIGHLY recommend Peter and Kelli Bronski's pie dough recipe.

Flaky, light and rolls out like the real thing. Tastes awesome.

When my Mom, the champion flaky pie crust maker of the family (besides my Gramma, her mother)

said to me last Thanksgiving  "omg, this is just like my mother's!" to me,

well, it was the proudest G F baking moment of my albeit short-thus-far G F baking career.

Let me know if you want to try it and I'll  type it out for you.

Enjoy that chili (I loves me some chili!)

 skip the crust and just put a topping on it (like a crumble) and that would be good enough for me.

At any rate, i don't think the cabbage in that soup would go good with cake

I pulled my frozen meatloaf out today. Just not feeling like cooking. I'll think up some veggies for it and have an easy dinner. We've got some errands to run this afternoon and I'm paying a dear price for my indulgences last week. Plus, not feeling super has led to a wee pile of dishes over the weekend that I need to tackle today. I must have misplaced my magic wand.

IrishHeart Veteran

I started a pot roast and veggies crock pot thinger (I love LOVE2TRAVEL's word) this morning before I went to the gym.

(yes, I went to the gym the day after major yard work, and after a week of heavy lifting and really, what the heck is going on here? Me, doing physical labor and not wanting to kill myself from the pain??!  Healing the gut, collagen supplements, change in diet, MT, PT..... and magic wands at work, I guess. whoohoo)

and I have to say, I just returned and the house smells like YUM!!! :) Slow cookers are wonderful thingers. Karen was right!

If you find your magic wand, Addy would you kindly wave it over the rest of the garden for me. Make the leaves disappear?

I'd like to know who put that giant pin oak over my garden beds. I'd like to kick his butt.  Oh wait, I'm the doofus who put the garden beds

too close to the tree 16 years ago. duh.

My best friend who used to be my roommate has always complained that I made her fat while we were living together. How? My insomnia. How does my insomnia make other people fat? Well, things like tonight happen. When you are tired and can't sleep you get bored. When you are bored, you get hungry. When you grew up baking and are bored and hungry, you migrate to the kitchen.

I didn't actually bake tonight, but suddenly decided I couldn't live another moment without tapioca pudding. Not the kind that comes in a Jello pudding box, and not the kind that comes in a red box. The kind that comes from pearls that you stir for half a lifetime. I have to say that there is nothing in the world quite like a bowl of warm tapioca pudding late at night. I know what I'm having with my dinner tomorrow... if it lasts that long.

IrishHeart Veteran

I love homemade tapioca pudding with fresh whipped cream....total yumsters.  Enjoy!

Dinner tonight is going to be escarole and white bean soup.

Right after I finish cleaning the garden beds out. I'm on a mission....

Chicken stir fry, rice and veg.

I have been starving all day, I ate too many cashews.

My garden is a mess. If only we could do all the stuff we do when selling a house to the one we live in now. Mind you, me have visitors booked for 3 days next month, so have to get the spare room sorted by then...

I'm a brutal task-master and have no qualms barking orders and tossing out things. (hard to believe, given how delightful and sedate I am, isn't it?) Shall I come over?

experimental night tonite - i have rice paper wraps, assorted veggies and frozen shrimp.  i'm thinking of marinating the veggies and rolling them up with cooked shrimp.  but i also have cream cheeeeeeese.  and i wonder if i wrap them up and fry them how that will be.  playing with my food again.....

yes, the end of the month we have family coming in - one spare room is 'ready' - we have alot to do.  plus, i can't get everybody to commit what exact day they are coming, so all my plans on who to put in which house/room are all up in the air.  on the up side, these plans will probably change one hundred times from now til then!

the tossing out things part!!  between me (sentimental) and hubs ("that might be good for something - we might *need* it")  we have a bunch of crap that, honestly, i would never go looking for or miss if it was gone.  it's the tossing out part we get stuck on!

Not I, not me. (I love doing that, did you notice?) LOL

I keep sentimental stuff too, but the stuff you have not used in five years? Never going to use it. Let it go.

Will soon be on a plane to Croatia. Dinner tonight will just be a snack as I have several billion excited butterflies in my tummy. Cannot wait for the wondrous seafood and fish from the Mediterranean! We will be frequenting the markets for fresh produce to cook in our charming outdoor kitchen, which is a far cry from our solid block of ice we call northern Canada. Snowing at the moment. Again! REDRUM, REDRUM, REDRUM. THINGER, THINGER, THINGER. Don't worry about me...bwah ha ha ha....

I had a blast using a paper shredder for 3 days. That thing is awesome!

The things "someone" had kept "JIC"...oy. Everyone needs receipts from 1984 right?

I should talk, I had student grade sheets, letters, evals, etc. from just as far back. I kept some of them because they meant something to me

at the time. One read- through on a rainy afternoon and I had a good cry and a few laughs, put aside a chosen few (most importantly, the notebook of hand-written letters from the very first class I taught back in the stone age) and the rest, I shredded and chucked.

No regrets.

Thank you for the welcome and reply. The first test was tissue transglutaminase IGA and it was normal. The second test just simply says IGA and it was 638. You definitely answered my question, it sounds like im negative for celiac since the 1st test was normal, and that another condition has caused the abnormal result of the IGA. That's exactly what I was wondering. Im almost positive I have MS and I've read results are higher like that with early onset. Or it could be IBS. Hopefully the visit with the neurologist will give me even more answers and point to a final diagnosis. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply and for helping. Thank you so much!

Welcome to the forum, @daniellelawson2011! First, we need to deal with terminology here. When you refer to the "ttg" test I take that to mean the ttg-iga. And when you refer to the "iga" test I take that to mean total iga since the magnitude of the score would suggest that. Total iga is not a test for celiac disease per se. It is run in order to check for iga deficiency. If you are iga deficient, then the ttg-iga and other iga tests that are specific for celiac disease will be abnormally low and this would potentially produce false negatives. You are not iga deficient but, rather, your total iga is abnormally high. This can suggest underlying health conditions, some of them can be serious in nature.  https://labs.selfdecode.com/blog/high-iga/ "High IgA usually points to chronic infections or inflammation, though many disorders can raise its levels. High IgA does not cause symptoms. People show symptoms from their underlying health problem." One thing I might add and that is you must have been eating normal amounts of gluten for weeks/months prior to the blood draw for antibody testing. Testing while on a gluten free or gluten reduced diet will not yield valid results. Also, here is a primer outlining the various antibody tests that can be ordered to check for celiac disease:

After struggling with many different symptoms for years with no diagnosis, I decided to do my own research and I stumbled upon an article about celiac disease. I asked my PCP to order a ttg and iga. The results: the iga was high at 638. The ttg was negative. Of course I will discuss with my doctor, but i would like to hear from people that have went through the process of diagnosis to maybe give me some insight on what this means and where to go from here. Also of note, i had a brain mri which showed white lesions which arent typical at 44 years old. I have many MS symptoms. I go to the neurologist on Tuesday, but just curious if anyone knows if there is a correlation between iga and MS. I appreciate any help! Thanks!

Thankyou so much for your reply I decided to skip the senna has I've already had very loose stools last few days I've cut my portions down on the low fiber diet too and drinking lots of liquid has I just thought it would be wise to listen to myself too I've probably already done wat the senna would of done myself naturally by drinking clear apple juice which if not on the diet I would have to avoid anyways has I don't tolerate many fruit juices so I'm sure I've done the right thing I did try to contact the department on my letter but weirdly enough it was ringing but then after a while saying wrong number 🤷 but again I'm positive I've done the right thing I'm going to take today very lightly too with low portions and more liquids so yes thankyou for that advise I am very nervous but I have had time to think and read other peoples experiences and not all are bad there is some good advise and reassuring information from people who do these all the time so I'm trying my best to be positive so I can at least settle my mind knowing im doing this to help my own health has this year has been a rollercoaster for me cutting out gluten and lactose was a good idea but I still get flare ups and other symptoms so it definitely is worth a check like you said it was the calprotein that prompted the doctor to refer me again thankyou for your reply it's means a lot for someone to take the time to listen and respond and give uplifting advise  especially to me just now has I'm a bundle of nerves inside getting closer to tomorrow prep so thankyou for that 🙏
