Okay so I read a few posts on here saying to watch out for Heinz Apple Cider FLAVORED vinegar. I have the Triumph Grocery guide and decided to look in there and it not only list the plain Apple Cider vinegar but the APPLE CIDER FLAVORED. Is this book actually not reliable? This really bothers me.....

I've never heard of Heinz Apple Cider FLAVORED vinegar. What does the label say? Here's the website and I don't see anything about the flavored vinegar: Open Original Shared Link

I think the main thing we have to watch for in vinegar is the word MALT, which is not gluten-free.

Edit: I know some people do have problems with vinegar but it's not because of gluten (well, except for Malt as noted above)

I'd never heard of it either but if you search on here people were talking about it...the fact that it's listed there is making me nervous the grocery guide may not be trustworthy.

After looking at the Heinz website, there's only one apple cider vinegar listed, which I use and have no problem with it.

I just went to the Heinz website and at the bottom of the page I saw this:

Are Heinz

You're right, Bart. I was only checking on the Apple Cider Vinegar she was asking about, not the other varieties that contain barley. And malt = barley, a big no-no for us.

I wonder what the other threads were talking about with the Apple Cider Flavored vinegar having gluten? Unless they changed it in the last few years and i was reading old threads?

It's always a good idea to check the ingredients on the label as ingredients do change from time to time. The labels would have the most up-to-date info. Some of the old threads on the forum may not be current.

I'm thinking maybe they discontinued the Apple Cider Flavored Vinegar? I do remember it not being on HeInz's list of gluten free items several years ago which is why it is mentioned in archived posts.

Like SA said, information in old product posts may be outdated and no longer correct.

psawyer Proficient

I don't know why they would sell "apple cider flavored" vinegar when most vinegar is, in fact, made from cider, and products labeled "cider vinegar" are easy to find.

jerseyangel Proficient

The Apple Cider Flavored Vinegar, if I remember correctly, was from a grain source with flavoring added.

Have no idea what it was used for.

I'm pretty certain we're talking about some old threads.

Yep, definitely old threads.

Okay I'll just be careful as usual then. If i pick it up i'll also call them to be sure.

Am I missing something? I'll highlight the sentence I was referring to that I got from the Heinz site yesterday:

Some Heinz

You're not missing anything, bartfull-- I did. Thanks for the current information :)

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
