  2. I've been looking into colonic hydrotherapy for a few weeks now. There is a supposedly great clinic near my house, w/ one of the only certified hydrotherapists in Utah. I have friends (non-celiacs) who swear by the treatment. But I've been a bit nervous about it. Everything I've read says it's great, or that it's just quackery but harmless. Wanted to talk...
  3. you just take them when you've been glutened? i know some people who take them daily. anyone know the advantages/disadvantages? i've been interested in learning more about probiotics, but not really done much research....

  5. haha that made me laugh. i like it though. second-hand gluten...it has an impressive ring to it. plus, it always confused my husband when i said CC...b/c he's a world of warcraft player, and in the game, CC means crowd-control i am gonna start using SHG from now on!
  6. i find it amazing that every single child who passed by turned to look at him. what an inspiring article. we really should take more time to notice the beautiful things in our lives each day.

  9. Just wondering if anyone was able to make it to the meeting. I got caught up in a marital issue, and it completely slipped my mind. If you could post a summary of the meeting, I would love it! I was very excited to figure out this food storage stuff...still trying to build my supply. Thx!!
  10. The girls at work always bring something to snack on, and I get so tired of refusing their treats. I'd love a list of all the candy and munchies out there that are gluten-free so I can join in
  11. I've heard good things about Rodizio's yet to try it though. Another great place, don't know if they have it up in SLC (I'm down in Orem) is Carrabba's italian food, so good, so friendly and they even have a gluten-free menu! Also, if you have the chance to hit up Los Hermanos in Provo or AF, do, cuz they're awesome! My husband's friend works there and informed...
  12. i loved the pintos when i was a kid, but tried it last month after visiting TB's site, and got VERY glutened. it was quite frustrating! I say, make your own at home w/ lots of cheese!!
  13. Never thought of that before...cooking it in foil. I think I'm gonna steal your son's line I like that a lot!! That's what I tell my husband when he complains about me making a scene! I say, if you want to go home and make me cook for us, I will, but if we're treating ourselves, we're paying them to make us food, and we won't pay for something...
  14. thx for the link i'll check it out...
  15. Question-why do y'all have your pets on gluten-free diets? Do they need to be? Where do you find out what brands are gluten-free? lol i like that idea yeah, I totally agree w/ this. now everytime someone is talking to me about their health problems, I wonder....do you have celiac too? lol
  16. Just wondering. I've been getting gluten somehow, and wondered if it had anything to do w/ my haircare/makeup/lotion products. I don't have dh, but could something be making me sick somehow? never really paid attention to what my products have in them....
  17. My cousin and her husband are raving about the "lemonade diet" which is basically a liquid diet, where you drink a mix of lemonade, (real) maple syrup, and chili pepper....anybody know how successful this is, how to do it gluten-free, and whether it is ok for a hypoglycemic? I've tried to e-mail the "founder" people, but not gotten any response yet...
  18. yeah, it didn't really taste the same as the old freezer kind i used to buy, but it was still really good! just different
  19. Hm, maybe I'm abnormal, but mine happened backwards...I was dx w/ depression, and then celiac disease several years later. Not sure when the celiac disease developed, but the depression was definitely first. I have been taking a B supplement, and have noticed a difference (I think). More energy, better time sleeping/waking up. Could be that, could also...

  21. my favorite cookbook is "Life Tastes Good Again" from www.eatingglutenfree.com
  22. Ok, I followed this recipe for the thin mint cookies. The coating didn't exactly turn out the way I would have liked. I got it melted, then tried dipping the cookies in. The chocolate wouldn't stick. Don't know if it's cuz I used flour to press the cookies before baking, or if it's cuz I used margarine instead of shortening. so I tried to spread the coating...
  23. I love to visit the food network website!! My husband knows everytime I do b/c I'll print out another stack of recipes Another great recipe place to look is allrecipes.com and you can search for gluten-free recipes. Mmm, Acod that salmon recipe looks delish! Almost like dinner and dessert in one!
  24. The KIND bars do label the gluten-free ones. Some aren't I believe, but they are clear about which ones are. I love them! I also like the Bumble Bars as they are more protein, and help w/ my hypoglycemia. The chocolate and almond ones are the best IMO. But sometimes, I sure do miss those triple threat power bars...
  25. yes, any mexican dish is great w/ ground turkey. or spaghetti! turkey burgers! ground turkey is very versatile i think, can be used just the same as ground beef. maybe i'll get some of mine thawing!
