  1. Hi, I am addicted to World of Warcraft. I've been playing for one year, and I love it! My husband introduced me to the game, and we both play nearly every day. I just wanted to know if any other celiacs played...mostly because I am a nerd now and don't have too many friends IRL (in real life). Cool, well, there's my post. BTW: I've had a few characters...
  2. Has anyone ever heard of a place that makes donuts with potato flour? I had a church teacher from Utah as a child who used to praise donuts made somewhere in the Utah Valley with potato flour...since I live here now, and I can't have REGULAR sweets, I thought I'd look into it. Maybe I'm just wishful thinking.... Also, anyone been to the Chef's Table...
  3. I'm rather nervous about thxgiving, b/c my husband's family isn't all that considerate of my celiac issues. sure, m-i-l will cook me a plain piece of chicken to go w/ the meal but CC is a HUGE issue in their house and i can guarantee things like seasonings, butter, etc aren't safe. so i don't want to be rude and not go...but i'm kinda thinking about it anyway...
  4. 1. How long have you known you’ve had Coeliac Disease and what is your age (age-optional)? I'm 22 and I've been sick for 2 years, diagnosed 6 months ago. 2. Is it hard to cope with this condition? Yes!! 3. Do you understand what is wrong and what it’s doing to your body? Yes If yes could you briefly tell me what happens to you...
  5. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I guess they could be called "jo-jo's" but what I remember were thinly sliced potato rounds, with a crispy, seasoned skin (kinda like fried chicken skin but thinner). They were so good! I want to come up with a great recipe, but i'm not sure what to put in it. And since it isn't the most healthy recipe, I want it to...
  6. congrats Jane! that should be fun for you didn't even know about the against the grain thing, or i might have gone. i still need to get out there sometime and check out the store! sorry to hear you were sick Jessica that's not cool. Hope everyone has a great day!!
  7. I am not too bummed about missing the meeting. When I was diagnosed, all the dietitian did was print out some stuff from celiac.com and read it to me. She didn't seem to know more than I did...and I had scoured the web for info the day I was diagnosed. Oh well. How did the baking class go? I'm sad I missed that. I'll be at the next one though for sure...
  8. YES! I made the best lemon cheesecake...it's from the book "The Gluten Free Bible" and I ate the whole thing by myself in less than a week! I'll post it up here if you want.
  9. mmm, sounds delish! i 'll have to give it a try!
  10. Did anyone end up going to the GIG meeting? I totally spaced it Betsy, I can't wait for your thanksgiving class! I have it marked on my calender!
  11. I've drank the Optimas a couple of times since going gluten-free and i don't seem to notice a negative reaction. they don't say anything about gluten on them...as long as they don't make you feel sick, you should be okay.
  12. i personally wouldn't have a problem trying it out and seeing how i feel. it depends on how sensitive you are. i haven't had a pria bar in so long! my fave was the mint chocolate one mmm, I might have to go out and get me some and see how i do with them...
  13. I have totally been turned on to this stuff! They sell it at the local costco. Here's their website: zipfizz.com It has 10 calories, no sugar, 2 net carbs; 25 nutrients...it's great
  14. i drink lots of water. i also like to curl up on the couch with my hot corn bag (like a bean bag), that helps with the cramping and bloating a little too.
  15. i have never had a problem with them, and really like them
  16. Lol welcome! I have heard great things about Against The Grain, but have yet to make it there myself. Just went to the Harmon's tour last night, which was awesome! Definitely adding that place to my list of shopping faves! It was really fun going down all the aisles and learning what everyone else does, and their little secrets that are gluten-free (progresso...
  17. Some of the best restaurants I've been to around here are Carrabas, Outback and the Spaghetti Factory (don't know if the ones in SLC have gluten-free pasta, but the one in Orem does). Outback has a gluten-free menu on their website, I'd check it out before you come. Don't get the ceasar salad though! Wingers is another one that is supposed to be coming out...
  18. I would like to echo the other posts here and just say that eating lots of veggies is the best thing you can do! Eggs are another thing to try if you don't have a hard time with them, cuz they're great with a lot of things! My favorite is scrambled with veggies and salsa, served with some hash browned potatoes on the side. To keep yourself from feeling...
  19. anybody have a recipe to MAKE ice cream cones? i have heard that there is one somewhere....
  20. yay! i wish there was something i could do to help the process along!
  21. oooh, forgot about chocolate! i've been avoiding sweets lately but i definitely LOVE chocolate!!!
  22. What is the best way to go about an elimination diet? I've never done this, and am thinking I might have to since going gluten-free isn't making me feel better (since June). I think the culprit may be dairy, and I hope it isn't potatoes cuz I might have to kill myself Only kidding!
  23. Ursula, what is sepia and how can i get some? lol! i think i am having lactose intolerance issues, cuz i am so sick right now!
  24. There is a brand of soaps, laundry/dish stuff, etc that is very mild and non-toxic (i think). I really like it. It's called method, and we have their stuff at a couple of stores (Smith's Grocery and Target both carry the stuff). They also have a website methodhome.com They have some great "softer" scents. My favorites are eucalyptus-mint, green tea, and lavender...
