  1. I belive antivert is a brand name meclizine which is also sold OTC as dramamine II non-drowsy (25 mg). My vertigo is primarily congestion in the inner ear and eustacion tubes and usually responds to sudaphed (the real stuff behind the counter!) Although I had a horrific case a few years ago and nothing helped. They ran all sorts of tests on me. In...
  2. Thanks all. I may switch litters, but we all know the upheaval that can cause furry old ladies!
  3. We've talked about the fact that some cat litters have gluten, I even found a lovely article on how someone patented an odor reducer that depends on gluten and how wonderful it is.... Does anyone know if EverClean is gluten-free? I think I'm getting glutened, and this is a possibility.
  4. Do Sour Patch Kids contain gluten? No, Sour Patch Kids do not contain gluten. Manufacturing lines and ingredients may change from time to time. As such, it is recommended that you carefully review the product packaging for ingredient declarations prior to each use. from Schweppes FAQ page. I guess those little sour patch kids are on a gluten...
  5. at least you HAD heard about it! but of course they were probably taking about kneading the bread to build up that good gluten! you get used to the restrictions, where gluten tends to hide, etc. Being on this forum has definately furthered my education - -who knew I had to worry about charcoal! personnally I used the on-line gluten-free product...
  6. i'm another. I was having 7-10 lbs of difference between morning and evening before I went gluten-free.
  7. Kraft cheese is reliable -- if there is anything in it it will be on the ingredient list. White cheeses are safe -- just watch out for additional flavorings and for what they use as an anti-caking on slices. Most now say cellulose or potato starch (both safe). Modified food starch is _supposed_ to be safe with new labeling laws, I'm waiting another year...
  8. the temperature of the batter can make a big difference in the spreading of some of these. I learned that the hard way... if the recipe says anything about keeping the dough chilled, they mean it! I was supposed to end up with regular type cookies that had chopped pecan centers, and I ended up with very goof madeline-type cookies once I cut them apart...
  9. Wine should be fine, but most chinese food has soy sauce which contais wheat.
  10. Trader Joes Mayo is on their gluten-free list. Cross contamination from a gluten consuming family memebr not taken into consideration
  11. I have a friend with food allergies who does a rotation diet. She will eat dairy (or corn, or wheat) but always in moderation and at least four days between and never 2 on the same day. Seems to me it would be easier to cut them out than keep track of those logistics; but it works for her. She has asthma reactions to her allergies, but seems to be OK ...
  12. flour dust can gluten you because the sinuses filter the flour out of the air and drain into your stomach. Just smelling something wouldn't do that. Now, if he's recently gluten-free and you're nuking something he used to REALLY like, you may be tempting him, getting those stomach juices going for <whatever he misses> which can cause rumblings...
  13. They are great, but beware: not all the box flavors are gluten-free.
  14. They don't have a gluten-free menu, but they cook from scratch; are VERY customer oriented; and I have eaten there several times safely. They _care_, which is as important as anything else. OK, sometimes more.
  15. I'm partial to the BBQ Shrimp -- They sell it as an appetizer, but I have them do it as an entree with the veggies and such. OK, you made me do it, I went there for dinner. MMMMMMMmmmmmmmm
  16. If you've never fasted before, going 2 days is too much, your body won't be able to deal with it. Most people who teach fasting to _healthy_ people recommend skipping one meal the first time. Then doing a 12 hour fast, then a full 24 hour day. Those who fast regularly frequently eat lightly the day before (and after) the fast to prepare the body. If your...
  17. I'm a born Gator; although I currently live in Pittsburgh, I didn't even realize they were playing until I say today's paper.... so GO GATORS!

    ARCHIVED Good Doctor

DEFINITELY not Plotner. He examined me once and said IBS, with no tests! didn't address the GERD, either. Crenshaw wasn't bad, but he's not really informed. He did a single place biopsy and decided I didn't have it. No blood tests. When I went back for a repeat colonoscopy I said i had celiac, he said "but your biopsy was negative (he never told me...
  19. The worst celiac symptoms are the ones YOU have the ones other people have can't possibly as bad
  20. I've seen them in Pittsburgh PA and the Washington DC area....
  21. 2 hot buttons here.... Some celiacs react to oats and some studies seem to indicate that even those of us who don't show symptoms may (or not) have reactions. Cross Contamination. This is probably what they think they're addressing. However, some folks on here have posted difficulties with Bob's on cross contamination on their gluten-free products...
  22. Also, remember that breathing in flour IS ingesting it. The sinuses produce mucus to clean themselves and that drains into the stomach taking the flour with it. So, if you mixed the paper mache paste without a mask on, you probably got some in your system.

    ARCHIVED Neti Pot

It adjusts the PH to reduce the possibility of that burning sensation. I assume you are also using either pickling or kosher salt so it odesn't have iodine, and filtered or bottle water without chlorine. I was away this past weekend and used tap water (since it was all I had) and BOY could I smell the chlorine... I didn't rinse on day 2.
  24. I learned ALL NEW vocabulary words when my husband made lasagne with cooked rice noodles Next time we're going with the extra time (His lasagne is always a little runny anyway, so this may help!)
