  1. Pam is gluten-free. I use it. Soy is not gluten, but a number of people with celiac have found they also have have trouble tolerating soy, at least in quantity.
  2. yeah, and we LOOK at it....
  3. Pepcid OTC has unspecified starch and I got sick from it..... Mylanta gelcaps seem to be safe. (I can't stand the liquids).
  4. It's also possible that you're not getting enough fiber.
  5. yeah, it's those things we do automatically.... I've been gluten-free for 2 1/2 years, Hubby was under the weather and asked me to make him some toast. I got some butter on my finger and came REALLY close to licking it off.... If I can come that close to glutening myself after 2 1/2 years, cut Mom some slack. I bet she remembers next time (OK...
  6. I Use Neutrogena Clean shampoo and conditioner and Neutrogena body gel. Available pretty much anywhere they sell shampoo.
  7. second that one. Infinitely better than vans. Plus 8 in the package and never with ice in there. *Best Bread = Whole foods prairie bread (OK, and their banana bread is pretty awesome too if you can afford it ) *Best Bagels = I've only eaten bad ones. *Best Pasta = Tinkyinada, Trader Joes *Best Pizza = no good ones yet. *Best Rolls = ? ...
  8. hemorrhoids are veins near the surface that can burst and bleed when placed under pressure (straining to make a bowel movement). In people that have trouble with them they can evn become protrusions near the anus and swell and itch when they're acting up. However, there are also internal hemorrhoids that are just inside the anus that can cause bleeding...
  9. I had been seeing one of the top GIs in my area for 6 years, and it was a new GP straight out of residency that diagnosed me. But she didn't order the tests, said they weren't always accurate, and she dismissed my negative endo and told me to try the diet. If it worked, we knew, if it didn't we'd look elsewhere. I hated to move away from her. She was...
  10. At my first colonoscopy they removed 4, and later determined 2 were "pre-cancerous" in other words, if they had not been found and removed, they might have become cancer. This was around 38yo while we were trying to figure out what was wrong. second colonoscopy at 40, found 2, 1 precancerous. third (by which time I was gluten-free), found only 1 small...
  11. My store carries Maple Grove and it's pretty good. I tried one once before (don't remember which) that was just WAY too much rice flour. Like eating sand....
  12. When I first started this, I actually put my menu up as a wall between me and my bread-weilding hubby. That embarrased him enough that he got more careful!
  13. I've done well with either. I ask for the steak with only S&P, not their seasoning, I get the baked sweet potato and veggies without seasoning, and I do fine. When I was traveling, Steak places were my "least risk" place to eat out. The last time I was in a Texas roadhouse, they even did the steak in a pan instead of on the grill to protect me. ...
  14. Wegman's (Oh, how I miss them!) also has a gluten-free honey-glazed, spiral cut ham.
  15. About 2 hours for me, but it can be longer. My reaction tends to be commensurate with the amount I ingest and whether I've been glutened recently (makes it worse). I'll have abdominal cramping (bad means I'll be doubled over and can't walk, nominal means pain but liveable) and D until my body feels it's gotten rid of the gluten. 3-4 hours or 3-4 days....
  16. make that 2.5 years and still learning....
  17. I use AVG and haven't had any problems.
  18. there was a 70s Sci Fi movie where they celebrated "Commerce day" I think we're getting darn close to that.
  19. Legal takes it very seriously. When I was on travel in Cambridge I ate there almost every night. The only bad experience I had with them was at Logan Airport -- yeah, right before I got a plane. Luckily I have a 2 hour delay and that gave me time to land in DC... Anyway, I wrote them an email, they apologized profusely and with Gift certificates,...
  20. well, just make sure the soap and hand lotion are gluten-free!
  21. Did you ever consider that WHY family are so bad about it. The possibility that they have or will have it? and that they are still in denial?
  22. Open Original Shared Link It appears they are only limiting liquid or gel-like things, but always check before you go since they change the rules often. Might not hurt to have a printout of this either....
  23. This southern girl likes pimento cheese! (Of course I make my own now, but it's easy if you have a cuisinart!)

    ARCHIVED Help!

Also, some margarines have unspecified food starch. Found that out the hard way....
  25. no Steve, they're not saying it hasn't damaged the small intestine, they're saying the biopsy did not find/confirm it. There are 22 feet of samll intestine, the scope used for my biopsy only went into the duodenum. and he randomly chose a spot to biopsy. So, unless ALL the villi in the small intestine were damaged, or until we get a mechanism to scope...
