ARCHIVED Adhesive To Reglue Crown - May Be Dumb Question
Gemini replied to suzyq63's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Paula...don't sweat this at all. I have had 25 years worth of dental work done, many crowns and soon an implant and the vast majority of dental products are gluten free. I called manufacturers and did a boatload of homework on this because of all the dental work I have had to have and found that the only thing I reacted to was the casting gum for the crown... -
ARCHIVED Whole Foods - Salad Bar And Prepared Food Area
Gemini replied to munchkinette's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Check this article out: Open Original Shared Link Also click on the Shoyu link in the upper right corner of the page and read about that. Sounds like it's another case of the seller being technically correct about the product but I would not eat any soy sauce that wasn't labeled gluten free. This article seems to liken it to distilled alcohol....while... -
ARCHIVED Well Now I Got In A Fight At Pf Changs.
Gemini replied to conniebky's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Connie...you never fail to crack me up!!! Hillbilly? We should all become hillbillies then as I really respect what you did! Personally, this new attitude in business of arguing with the customer, when they have a valid complaint, just floors me. No wonder businesses fail today. Was that the manager you spoke with? I would have contacted the district... -
You won't have a reaction if it hits your lungs but if it gets into your lungs, it's getting into your stomach so you will have a reaction. Anything like flour or anything that mists is insidious and you cannot inhale them without your stomach being involved. I know people who worked as bakers and had to leave their jobs because their antibody levels never...

You have a sensational attitude about all this and I also experienced this type of reaction. I never had an grief moments with this diagnosis because I was just so thankful that my problem was discovered, after 20 years of being sick, and the treatment was totally under my control. It also helped that I ate very little of what most Americans eat today because...

ARCHIVED Ttg Iga Levels Increasing
Gemini replied to tclarkfl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It might be a good idea to have an endocscopy done to actually see if your small intestine is healing or not. I usually don't push for those tests as they are invasive but in situations where a person is not responding well overall, I think it a good idea. You did gain some weight but that could mean you have had partial healing and enough to put some weight... -
ARCHIVED No Way To Turn Entire Home gluten-free
Gemini replied to Aphreal's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You do not have to make the whole house gluten-free at all! That is a misconception. What you do need to do is teach the older members of the family, including the 8 year old, about CC. Kids are not stupid and can learn anything. The 5 year old might be a stretch but the rest of them need to pony up and do things correctly so you will not become sick. I... -
I am sure you have heard that Disney is very gluten free friendly also so you should have no worries there! Many people with Celiac kids oft for Disney and have been very pleased with their vacations.

Italy has an extremely high awareness of Celiac and accommodate people to an unbelievable level. Unless you are in some remote village where no one speaks English, travel is not hard at all with Celiac and I am an extremely sensitive Celiac. I am headed off to England and Scotland next month and have never had any problems traveling with this disease. Really...

ARCHIVED Ttg Iga Levels Increasing
Gemini replied to tclarkfl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
As far as your thyroid is concerned, if all numbers are normal except for the TSH, I am not sure and would tend to doubt if your high tTg would have a link to the thyroid problem. Your tTg is extremely high yet your thyroid antibodies are in the normal range. That is a little puzzling to me. Either that, or your thyroid problem is in the early stages of dysfunction... -
ARCHIVED Ttg Iga Levels Increasing
Gemini replied to tclarkfl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Absolutely! Thyroid disease, Hashi's to be exact, will raise tTg levels. If you know your TSH levels at last testing, please share because if this is elevated, then your thyroid could be out of whack and producing antibodies, which will raise your tTg. I have to say that your tTg is very high.....mine was very high also at diagnosis. I would think you would... -
ARCHIVED Low Wbc And Rbc
Gemini replied to OldOklahomaGuy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
All of your problems have a direct link to autoimmune disorders and here's why......the low white cell count is normal for anyone having any of the autoimmune disorders that exist. It can become low from having one or more disorders. My white cell count has been low my entire adult life and I am 51. Age has very little to do with any of your problems and... -
My advice is in no way bad advice and every publication I have ever read pertaining to this subject states emphatically that, unless you are eating your products, you do not have to worry about exposure from topical products. These would be medical literature books on celiac disease so I guess the whole medical community are dopes and have it wrong? I don...

ARCHIVED Neck Pressure And Thyroid Problems.
Gemini replied to mygfworld's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My best advice to give you is drop the endocrinologist and find a good alternative medicine physician. I gave up years ago going to these "so called specialists" because they never helped. I have Hashi's thyroid disease, along with a few others from celiac disease, and it was downright frustrating for doctors to not take into account on-going symptoms with... -

Wheat is only harmful if swallowed and that's medical fact. So, you are either ingesting shampoo while you shower and you are sensitive/allergic to another ingredient in the product. If this is a topical reaction, you may have a wheat allergy on top of Celiac or an allergy to another ingredient. Celiacs have a tendency to have other allergy's/intolerance...

ARCHIVED What Is Your Response When People Say.....
Gemini replied to sahm-i-am's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm with you......when I think of all the diseases there are, I would still choose celiac disease over any of them. I actually get very annoyed when people say they are sorry if I end up having to mention I have Celiac. I always reply that they don't need to apologize to me as things could always be a lot worse. I could have a disease I have no control over... -
ARCHIVED Are These Products Ok?
Gemini replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Jason...as you have so many food issues, I would look into taking pancreatic enzymes as a digestive aid. It's almost mandatory for Celiacs as we just don't digest food the way it was meant to be. I know I noticed marked improvement in how I felt when I started taking them. You might find out that's all the problem is and you may be becoming side tracked and... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Soy
Gemini replied to bincongo's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you have been drinking soy milk and haven't had any problems, then don't worry about it. Not as many people are soy intolerant as gluten intolerant. I can't have dairy, along with no gluten, but can eat soy with zero problems. It's a really good substitute for milk and is a good protein source. Soy is supposed to be bad for your thyroid but it has had... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Soy
Gemini replied to bincongo's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, they are. I drink soy as I have a dairy issue and even though I knew they were gluten-free from reading the label, I called Bucky's to back up what I was reading. I have never gotten sick or had the slightest issue with them and I am uber-sensitive. Enjoy! -
ARCHIVED Is There Any Definitive List As To What Causes High Ttg Besides Celiac?
Gemini replied to adab8ca's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would HIGHLY suggest you have the EMA blood test added to those other tests because it's 100% specific for Celiac Disease. Probability for having Celiac is 99% if you have a positive EMA and a positive tTg...which you already have. My numbers were as high as yours...my AGA numbers were higher and I am classic textbook Celiac. You sound like you have the... -
ARCHIVED Thyroid
Gemini replied to ToriMartin's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would agree with this statement although taking pills for thyroid malfunction is not like taking medication. It's just the replacement hormone your body is not making enough of so I consider it more of a supplement. As I take a lot of vitamins and minerals anyway, taking one more supplement is no biggie. Here is one big way in which going gluten-free... -
ARCHIVED Sorting Through Inconsistencies
Gemini replied to beachlvr's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Caramel flavoring..... I assume you are referring to caramel color? It is gluten free as corn is used in the process. Corn makes for a better product over barley malt, which in rare instances may be used. I have never run into caramel color that wasn't gluten free. Lunch meat is tricky and not guaranteed gluten-free. There are brands which are gluten... -
ARCHIVED Wine Gluten Free?
Gemini replied to ToriMartin's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am about as super sensitive a Celiac as they come and I have never, ever had any reaction to the red wine I drink....and I drink it everyday. I don't eat foods from shared facilities as I react yet no reaction from wine so I really think many people are reacting to other ingredients, mainly sulfites. Alcohol produces problems for a lot of people and many... -
ARCHIVED Weight Loss With Celiac?
Gemini replied to adab8ca's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
With blood work that high, I fail to see why your doctor does not think this an official diagnosis! Having no GI symptoms is not unusual, in fact, the majority of Celiac patients today have no GI symptoms.....really. The disease has mutated and changed, according to the top Celiac doctors and researchers, and many have the neurological manifestation of...
