ARCHIVED Help With Results...ttg & Thyroid
Gemini replied to designerstubble's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Maybe I am missing something here but your tTg looks pretty good to me. Am I reading it correctly that it is 1.2, with a normal range of 10 and under? I am not sure what the equivocal range means. tTg tests for intestinal damage only. The DGP test looks for reaction to gluten in the bloodstream and is the better test to do for dietary compliance, yet... -
Jut so ya know........80% of your immune system is based in the gut so this is why it is so important to keep the gut healthy. When you take probiotics, you actually are giving your GI tract the food it needs to build a healthy immune system. This is why I always shake my head at those who try to steer people away from taking them. What Irish said is correct...

ARCHIVED Gluten-Free, Soy-Free Eggs
Gemini replied to eve789's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Oh man...not this again! I think it's great that you raise chickens for fresh eggs because they really are nice to have BUT there is no trace gluten in any egg. Anyone new to Celiac or the gluten-free diet needs to know...eggs are safe. Really...they are. Good luck with the chickens! -
ARCHIVED When You Don't Get Glutened
Gemini replied to Pegleg84's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've been doing this for 8 years now and can honestly say it's a rare day when I am glutened. You become more confident and educated as time goes by and that helps greatly. I go to the UK or Ireland every other year and usually have great success with that. I am extremely sensitive also and get sick from crumbs....really sick. But I also bounce back much... -
ARCHIVED Ectopic Heartbeats And Exercise?
Gemini replied to designerstubble's topic in Sports and Fitness
I think this condition is called A-Fib in the US and, while I have never had any heart problems, I have a cousin who just underwent surgery to correct long standing A-Fib. Well...it doesn't really correct it but that's their fix for it in AMA Land. What I do know is that A-Fib is an associated condition for Celiac's. I have heard a few of these people... -
ARCHIVED Armour Thyroid
Gemini replied to Eclara's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Why would soymilk be a problem with thyroid hormone? I use soy products every day and it has never affected my absorption of thyroid hormone. Has it affected yours?- 6 replies

ARCHIVED New-Celiac-Diet-Training
Gemini replied to Seefyboy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Another round of applause for nvsmom!!!!!!! Hypothyroid can cause all of the symptoms you describe. Puffy eyes, especially bags under the eyes, and sinus congestion. When your metabolism slows down from slugglish thyroid function, you can collect fluid under your eyes. I have Hashi's thyroid disease and I have a little bag action going on under my eyes... -
ARCHIVED Armour Thyroid
Gemini replied to Eclara's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Armour and other natural thyroid hormones are meant to be chewed a bit before swallowing or dissolved under the tongue. They use cellulose, I believe, as a binder and that will not dissolve easily if swallowed whole. Coffee will not affect absorption and I actually take my Nature-throid in the morning with my coffee to swallow, after chewing it up a bit...- 6 replies

ARCHIVED Aspirin Safe? Other Options...
Gemini replied to Myself's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Take it from the "Once Queen of Hot Flashes and Night Sweats"........the odds of anyone sweating that much , which would lead to a deficiency is highly improbable. I don't know where you heard this but in all my years of menopausal symptoms, that's a new one to me. You would have to be running marathons to lose enough sweat, and not replacing the fluids... -
ARCHIVED First Day Of Summer ... And It Won't Stop Raining - Vent
Gemini replied to nvsmom's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I am so sorry you are having to deal with this, Nicole! The weather is just crazy this year. We had 12 inches of rain in 2 weeks here in Boston, Mass. but I am not complaining when I hear stories like yours. It had been really dry before hand so we did not suffer any flooding. I hope everyone and their property will be OK...we'll be thinking of you... -
First point...there never will be any research to suggest or even prove that there is a link between vaccinations and autism because then the AMA and drug companies would be open to massive lawsuits. Just like there are no warnings to women that long term use of the birth control pill "can" increase your risk of certain cancers later in life. We have had...

ARCHIVED New Canary Seed Is Ideal For Gluten-Free Diets In Celiac Disease - Eurekalert (Press Release)
Gemini replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
Are you kidding me????????? WTF????? This is how much we rate that they are giving us bird seed to eat as cereal? No wonder I hate cereal and don't eat it...except for gluten-free oats! -
ARCHIVED Toddler W Celiac gluten-free For 6 Months But Still With Diarrhea
Gemini replied to So-so's mom's topic in Super Sensitive People
Lundberg rice is safe. I have read their manufacturing process and the chances of gluten contamination are next to zero....they only process rice. But, yes, soy could be the problem. It is for many people. I just wonder because your daughter is not getting enough protein in her diet. Do you eat meat or fish yourself? It might help if your daughter sees... -
To be honest, I do not watch mainstream news because they are a pack of amateurs. Walter Cronkite, they ain't! If I watch news at all when something happens, it's Fox so we are alike in that matter. I think it depends on what you hear from what source will clue you in as to what they want you to hear about ObamaCare. I have to tread carefully here...

ARCHIVED Severe Adrenal Fatigue Symptoms?
Gemini replied to designerstubble's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I doubt you have Addison's because that would mean your cortisol levels would be bad all day long and night and then you would go into an adrenal crisis...that does not usually happen with adrenal fatigue. Many people suffer from adrenal fatigue. Addison's is the type of problem where you just go over a cliff at some point and get very sick, whereas adrenal... -
ARCHIVED Salivary Gland Stones And Other Symptoms - Are These Related To Celiac?
Gemini replied to Lacadienne's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello Lacadienne.....your symptoms scream of Sjogren's Syndrome. I have Sjogren's and although I don't know if what I had was caused by salivary stones, I used to get blocked salivary glands under my tongue. This happened a few times and then stopped but I had all the classic symptoms of Sjogren's......extremely dry mouth and eyes, dental problems and some... -

Gemini replied to ~**caselynn**~'s topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm thinking there is a New Englandah in there because you pronounced it "lobstah"! -
If you buy bleu cheese that is made in the US, it should not be a problem but if it comes from Europe, then many still use the old fashioned way of making bleu cheese and it is started on bread. I found this out at a french restaurant I went to and they use french bleu cheese, which was not gluten free. But many of them the ones here are!

Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have a good time with your family. You have the same issues I do....gluten and dairy and I am very sensitive myself. I never felt the need to test food but that's not something I would do anyway. I just really believe that you will be able to go and eat and not be sick as England has such high awareness and availabiltiy...

ARCHIVED Ttg Iga Still Positive After 1 Year
Gemini replied to nvsmom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You are a smart cookie and you have done a great job! My tests were normal at the one year mark too, although my tTg was still a little high in the normal range. It was as high as yours when diagnosed so that does take time to bring down. I got news for you....it gets better and better as time marches on. -
I thought Sweden was very progressive with gluten free dining and knowledge of the disease? Or is it because of other intolerances that it makes it difficult for you? You should go to London....really. Relax. It is a fun city and you will love it. I have eaten out in many of the places that fughwazi mentioned and never got sick. I'm very sensitive...
-
I have no doubt you have other issues at play here, Diana. But they are most likely not Celiac issues. If you react to water while others are eating dessert, whatever the reaction is, it is not a gluten reaction. You know people who are newly diagnosed are going to read this and think they cannot be in the same room as someone eating gluten or that potholders...

ARCHIVED Am I Still Healing Or Is It Cc
Gemini replied to niese's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The toaster bags are great for traveling...I use them for that but this is everyday life and Irish's advice is spot on. Your husband needs to have a talk with his mother and defend your needs. It can be done nicely but it needs to be done. There are only a few times when you have to take a step over that line that is being drawn in the sand but this is... -
ARCHIVED So Sensitive I May Quit My Job.
Gemini replied to mamatrois's topic in Super Sensitive People
Whatever happened to the days when kids played with TOYS? Everything is too food based and with all the allergies and intolerances today, they shouldn't be doing a food table. -
