  1. The fatigue and brain fog most certainly can be thyroid issues.....I have Hashi's myself. Have you had a full thyroid panel done and if so, what where the thyroid antibody numbers? Fatigue is unbelieveable with Hashi's.....it can be debilitating. More importantly, are the meds you are currently on gluten free?
  2. All I can say Cali is that I was a classic Celiac.....skinny and malnourished. I weighed 94 pounds at time of diagnosis. I also have 3 other autoimmune diseases besides Celiac. It took 3 years for all the Celiac symptoms to resolve but I got slowly better all the time. Fast forward 8 years gluten-free and I am the healthiest I have ever been in my life...
  3. I am no doctor but I have never heard of a false positive tTg that was that high. In fact, there really are no false positives but there are certainly a lot of false negatives. It would be good to know if the same lab did both tests but they are both high. Other considerations.....it is never normal for a 9 year old to suffer from anxiety. It isn't normal...
  4. Thank you for YOUR information. I am going to check it out because it's all about the manufacturer when trying to figure this out. Celiac's basically have to get to know which manufacturers provide gluten-free meds and I usually end up asking for stuff by manufacturer. People think I'm anal about it but whatever it takes.......
  5. Thanks for this! I shop there at least twice a month and this will come in handy.
  6. Open bags of wheat flour are a problem for anyone with Celiac disease, no matter what your sensitivity level is. We all react with our immune systems. What the heck is a sensory table anyway? Just your luck it involved wheat flour!
  7. So...you have ingested crayons? Or do you have an allergy to them? I know some people have allergic reactions to some dyes so maybe that is the problem?
  8. This is exactly what happens with a lot of people, including myself. There was extreme, immediate improvement of the acute symptoms very quickly for me but then recovery slows down to a more realistic pace with the chronic stuff. The stuff that is directly tied to long term inflammation. You have to be patient and wait for the inflammation to go away before...
  9. I fail to understand it also. Seems doctors all over do this so it's not just here the States. Crazy. I am confident that you have the knowledge and will to get what you want, as far as test results go. Hang in there as you are on your way to getting some answers. Remember...the squeaky wheel gets the most oil......
  10. I agree completely with cyclinglady and she is correct...if you live in the US. I am not sure where others are but this type of testing can and will either deny you insurance or charge you a lot more for it. One of the first questions you will see on any life insurance policy application is whether you have any gastrointestinal or autoimmune problems. ...
  11. OK....let's try this again. Scalloping is not normal and usually is seen with Celiac when damage is starting to ramp up. Many people have reported scalloping on their biopsy reports. Your small intestine, believe it or not, has the surface area of a tennis court, if laid out flat. It has many peaks and valleys, which are the villi, and these create...
  12. 10 pounds is a lot of weight for you to try and gain in 2 months. It took me 6 months to start gaining weight from 94 pounds. You might not do so well without the gluten-free grains and if you buy from a reputable company, preferably with a dedicated facility, you should have no issues with them. The cross reactive nonsense is just that.....total bunk....
  13. What she said!!!!! 2,000 calories a day is what I eat and I'm female, 5' 4" tall and weigh 110 pounds. If you are seriously trying to gain weight, shoot for at least 3500-4000 calories a day.....really! Look for calorie dense foods and eat a lot of them...the healthy ones. Peanut butter, dried fruits and yes, a brownie. Protein shakes will put on weight...
  14. I had trouble linking the site up above correctly so this is what it stated, in case you have the same problem. The source was the Science Channel.
  15. There is nothing wrong with crayons. Open Original Shared Link Look at that...they even use corn starch for the glue in the paper label!
  16. I don't think so, Stephanie. You have repeatedly had the stance that most foods have trace amounts of gluten in them, without having any proof that this is so. There are many reasons why people heal more slowly than others but you insist that it is probably because of all this trace gluten......that no one has absolutely shown proof of. The vast majority...
  17. You have a wicked sense of humor, arlene! I like it!
  18. I had a nice answer to your questions all typed up and then the internet crashed and I lost it. I will respond later...I promise!
  19. Most people who are diagnosed, or those who are not diagnosed but highly symptomatic, would most likely know if they were ingesting gluten because they would become symptomatic again, over time. Yes, there are those who are totally asymptomatic but that's another problem in and of itself. I would imagine there would not be healing going on if someone were...
  20. Ksee.....again, you misunderstand......where did you get the impression that I was following the Atkins diet? The Atkins diet is a medical diet for those who are facing bypass surgery and need to drop weight FAST. Somehow, it made it's way into mainstream America and people loved it because it does make you lose weight fast....but it's not the type of diet...
  21. I am not sure if you read my post correctly, Ksee, but I am well aquainted with ketosis. Ketosis occurs when you start burning fat, after restricting carbs in your diet. It helps prevent the break down of muscle, which will eventually occur if you go long enough without nourishment. As I was suffering from advanced malnutrition upon diagnosis, I am more...
  22. I couldn't agree more!
  23. Scalloping is usually the first thing to happen before the villi go. That, and inflammation can happen also. A doctor will not diagnose Celiac Disease unless they see flattened villi...and lots of it. So, this could be early signs of Celiac. Did you have blood work done? Are you symptomatic for Celiac? If so, then I would go gluten free. Otherwise...
  24. Glad to help, Kiki. I hope your doctor isn't offended because sometimes they get in a huff when someone points out mistakes with testing but I get totally annoyed when they play the blame game and haven't looked at the whole picture. When re-testing in the beginning, it is important to do a full celiac panel....at least for awhile until things are good...
  25. Here's the problem, Kiki.....they did the wrong test for dietary compliance on you. The tTg tests for intestinal damage/tissue damage and can be positive in the presence of other autoimmune diseases. They should have repeated a full Celiac panel to include the DGP, which tests for gluten response in the blood. In other words, if you were taking hits from...
