Dizziness and itchiness sound more like an allergic reaction to something and, at this time of year, environmental allergies can definitely cause these symptoms. Your eye problems should be checked out by the ophthamologist because you may have something else going on, either with your eyes or neurologically. Not all problems are the result of gluten and...

ARCHIVED I Need A Safe Rice. Reacting To Lundberg Time, And Time Again.
Gemini replied to CNV2855's topic in Super Sensitive People
Lundberg only grows and sells rice based products so there would be no other gluten grains harvested with their crop. -
ARCHIVED I Need A Safe Rice. Reacting To Lundberg Time, And Time Again.
Gemini replied to CNV2855's topic in Super Sensitive People
Here is something worth reading: Open Original Shared Link I would agree that maybe the reaction is not from cover crops or gluten itself but an intolerance to rice or the blood sugar swings. After reading this article on the degree Lundberg goes to ensure a safe and clean product, I don't see how a cover crop could possibly cause a reaction, by the... -
ARCHIVED Seasonal Allergies - Just Need To Whine...
Gemini replied to june27's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I started taking quercetin with Vitamin C a few weeks ago, on advice from my functional doc. I haven't noticed a huge difference or maybe I would be worse than I am now if I didn't take it. Nothing seems to help my eyes all that much and I really think the underlying problem is the Sjogren's. I do not get very much congestion any more and I think the allergy... -
I have tried many allergy eye drops, including Zaditor, and they all only give me a few hours relief...and it's not that great relief either. I think having Sjogren's and the underlying problem of dry eye pretty much has me screwed. The eye drops further dry out my eyes so it's a catch 22. I can picture myself living in an igloo, somewhere in Canada...

ARCHIVED Seasonal Allergies - Just Need To Whine...
Gemini replied to june27's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Awwwwww, June...........I know you do not live far from me at all and I wanted you to know that I am going through the same thing right now. It started about 2 weeks ago, when the mold count spiked after we got some rain and it became warm for a few days. My little Sjogren eyes do NOT LIKE mold. It's my worst allergy. I wear dark glasses everywhere because... -
It's nice to see someone from the mainstream branch of medicine agree that TSH is not the best way to monitor thyroid function. The reason so many of us with Hashi's ditch the endo's is because many do not do a good job of making people well. They get stuck on old school medical teaching and do not like to step outside the box with treatment. They still...

There is no normal level of TSH...just a range that doesn't work for everyone. It depends on whether you have AI thyroid disease or your thyroid is low from other reasons. Many people do feel better with a lower TSH but you also have to take into account, and more importantly, the T3 and T4 levels. If you have Hashi's thyroid disease, many times suppressing...

IrishHeart had some excellent advice and I agree that TSH is not the same for everyone. But, then again, I think that TSH should be included in the diagnosis process for thyroid disease, along with the rest of the panel but not relevant when re-testing once on medication. Geez.......I keep mine suppressed because once it starts to rise just a little, symptoms...

By adding T3, my thyroid is more stable with regards to the T3 and T4 levels and I have more energy. I was draggy and symptoms returned on T4 only. My nails start to split and that's a sure sign for me that my thyroid is low. I also can become anemic as thyroid function plays a role in red blood cell production. I swung from hypo to hyper also for awhile...

The decision I made is mirrored by thousands of others who never receive proper thyroid treatment from mainstream physicians. Most are borderline malpractice. I have been doing this for over 20 years and have been on natural thyroid hormone for that length of time, except for a period of being on T4 only....bad idea. It never works well for those of us with...

It's infuriating, isn't it? I go to a functional medicine MD here in the States because she was the ONLY ONE who doses with both T3 and T4. Most endo's here and Primary Care Physicians are not on board with T3, either. I think they just want to keep us feeling on the bad side for business purposes. There is a big difference in how you feel when you add...

ARCHIVED Best Bread And Pasta
Gemini replied to DonnaMM's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Canyon Bakehouse bread, especially the 7 grain, is chock full of whole grain gluten-free grains so I would argue it is not one of those items that you need to limit. I eat way more bread than I used to because when you start weight training, you lose too much weight if you don't eat carbs. I am extremely sensitive yet eat this bread everyday, at breakfast... -
ARCHIVED Celiact
Gemini replied to sirjibalot's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The positive about these is that they have tailored them to include the stuff that is important to our needs and does so all in one pill. You could do the same with individual vitamins but that would cost a lot more and you end up taking too many supplements. They have incorrect information regarding health risks, though. We are not 40 times more likely... -
ARCHIVED Best Bread And Pasta
Gemini replied to DonnaMM's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It's food crack, bartie and I hope that you will eventually be able to snarf some down again. Every gluten eater I have given this bread to had no idea it was gluten free. -
Mccormick Spices
Gemini replied to Maxi's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use McCormick's also and I am very, very sensitive to small amounts of gluten so if there were any gluten in McCormick's, I'd get sick. There is no gluten in McCormick's spices so the reaction was most likely caused by something else. Unless you can absolutely prove there is gluten in them, I wouldn't be so fast to brand McCormick's as not safe. Reactions... -
You do not need an endocrinologist to maintain a healthy thyroid level. I dropped them because they really are clueless about thyroid disease and have a bad habit of only checking thyroid using TSH. That is what I would define as risking your health. There are a few people on here who really know thyroid issues well....better than most doctors. Of...

ARCHIVED Family Members Treat Me Weird...
Gemini replied to LadyK's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You are a very smart young woman! The more rssistance you get within a family about Celiac Disease, the higher the likelihood that the offender has it too. My mother is the same way....she gets pissed and very defensive if I talk about Celiac for more than a nano-second around other family members. I get questions from others and my mother gets annoyed... -
ARCHIVED Other Allergies - Long Term Damage?
Gemini replied to Nikki2777's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Nuts are all fat and fats can be hard to digest in the newly diagnosed. I would just make sure you don't overdo it...which can be hard to do because pistachios are good! -
ARCHIVED One Dr. Uses Wine Sensitivity As Health "gauge"
Gemini replied to babysteps's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well, I must be as healthy as a newborn pony because I tolerate red wine VERY WELL! Thank goodness for small miracles...... I should add that I could not tolerate any alcohol pre-diagnosis and only discovered the wonders of red wine after I had healed so I must have done something right. -
ARCHIVED Low White Blood Cells?
Gemini replied to aallenba's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Low white cell counts are normal for those with AI diseases, especially if you have multiple diseases. My white cell count is always in the low 2's but I never worry about it because I have had the problem my whole life and I do not get sick that much at all. That would be the only reason to be more proactive about it.....if you get sick often. After ... -
Produce washes, which I assume you are referring to the kind that you spray onto produce and then scrub and wash off, are citrus based. I use them all the time to wash produce. There is no soap in them at all because most people would gak over the thought of eating soap or soap residue on food. The citrus acid in the wash will dissolve any waxes on fruit...

We must be eye twins, june! I was exactly the same way, although this year, the mold is killing me. Allergies pretty much just affect my eyes and, with all the snow we got this winter, the past 2 weeks were brutal for me. Red, swollen eyes that ached. Lovely. The OTC allergy eye drops only give me relief for a couple of hours. I just do not want to...

Other autoimmune diseases can keep tTg high so unless your doctor has repeated all of the Celiac tests in the panel, there is no way of knowing if he is being cc'd or if it's from another AI disease. tTg should never be used alone for monitoring adherence to the gluten-free diet. If your son's DGP or the AGA IgA is negative (low) then he is not being cc...

ARCHIVED What Do You Do At A Wedding?
Gemini replied to Ciel121's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What a dope I am! I should have asked you when I was searching for places to eat. I originally was trying to find places that I could suggest to everyone that would accommodate us all but then started getting the whiners complaining about the cost or it wasn't this or that so I just cut bait, made plans for the gluten-free people in the group and the hell...
