  1. I'll let someone else chime in on your genes. If you have a celiac gene then I would probably have the scope done. It might be needed for the future to get the kind of monitoring my your doctors that you deserve.
  2. Hi, Although it seems overwhelming (and sometimes scary), it will get better with time. You will see that this diet isn't really that restricting (maybe a little tricky is all). I recommend that you carefully read through this following article: /celiac-disease/the-gluten-free-diet-101-a-beginners-guide-to-going-gluten-free-r1640/. This is a great place...
  3. Mid-July?! They need to run tests on your sooner than that. I would push for a little more urgency or a different specialist. If she is so busy to address your needs sooner, she could at least have a nurse pass along your results. Ugh, that just makes me mad!
  4. Gosh, years of trying different things, I guess. I also wanted something I could eat on the way to work and this is perfect. I get enough calories and it's so yummy that it's the meal I look forward to the most now, where before, breakfast was a chore and a half! I hope you like avocados as much as I do...they will become your best friend when trying to ensure...
  5. Wines have sulfites in them which often leads to this reaction. I'm a little better now that I'm gluten free, but I do find wine overall hard to digest. Organics are better because they do not use sulfites.
  6. So funny, I have the same exact eating pattern as you. I'm soooo hungry in the mornings now. I make a coconut milk smoothie with two heaping scoops of Raw brown rice protein, and then add add avocado, pysillium (sp?)husks and cocoa powder. It's my favorite meal of the day. By the time work ends, I usually don't have much of an appetite. I once read that...
  7. SAMe and St. John's Wort are both effective for anxiety issues and are natural. SAMe is even beneficial for the liver as an added bonus. Oh, and check out 5-HTP. Also because you're unlikely to be absorbing nutrients with a damaged intensinal track, I would suggest liquid vitamins and sublingal vitamin B to ensure you have the right balance of vitamins...
  8. I'm totally interested in this! If you could mayber submit a posting under "Recipe" when you have extra time, I would love to hear about how you ferment tea and coconut milk. I've always feared that I would end up with too much mold or bad bacteria.
  9. This happens to me too . . . lots of bloating. This is just a guess but maybe it has something to do with an electrolyte imbalance. I know many people with gluten intolerance also have adrenal fatigue (me as well), which causes imbalances such as these. Maybe with the sweat and exertion, it exacerbates the problem.
  10. They call endoscopies the "gold standard" of diagnosis, but that doesn't mean something hasn't developed since then or that you have non-celiac gluten intolerance. Also, h-pylori can cause many of these symptoms...the bacteria affects everyone differently, probably based on your immune system. I have all of the same symptoms you describe and I also have hpylori...
  11. In the meantime, a good probiotic and digestive enzymes can really help. Best of luck to you both!
  12. Yes, mine have greatly improved. I did also have to eliminate soy, all refined sugar and processed foods, dairy and nuts as well. I've also chosen not to eat other grains and corn to keep my blood sugar nicely balanced. Also, I got on a isotonic vitamin (liquid and easily absorbed), sublingual vitamin B, selenium, fish oil, etc.. Once all my vitamins and...
  13. I had this problem until I was treated for adrenal fatigue, which often results from the dietary stress gluten placed on our bodies. Glad to say today, it is gone.
  14. Although this is very scary and distressing, it's probably not something to be overly concerned about. This used to happen to a friend of mine - he would feel pressure on his chest, he couldn't move and he would see figures in his room. I did a lot of research to understand it... it affects many people for a variety of reasons, mainly stress. Open Original...
  15. I had to give up diary because of bloating, acne, puffy eyes and digestive problems. I'm pretty sure my problem is with casein, but in general dairy products can be inflammatory. It's interesting though, in their raw form (before pasteurization and before we injected cows with hormones and let them eat pesticide-laden corn) they are anti-inflammatory. Dr...
  16. I'm so sorry. This is a great place to be (forum) because so many people can support you, so feel free to ask questions and vent as needed. Have you been tested for parasites/bacteria? Have you taken antibiotics within the past 6 months? With the sudden onset, it may be something to consider. Either way, I'm certain a gluten-free/dairy free diet will...
  17. By the food challenge, I mean that you eat a very bland non gluten, non dairy, non grain, non sugar diet for a few weeks and then slowly add food back in, all while keeping a food journal. Eliminate the Big offenders during this time: wheat, corn, dairy, alcohol, chocolate, etc. You can google it or buy or check out a book on the topic.
  18. I don't know a thing about this but I would question the accuracy. If you eat something you think may be causing you a reaction, your pulse may increase based on the thoughts alone. I think a good old fashioned round of food challenge is the best way to find your answers.
  19. I also had to cut out nuts and dairy to get my swelling down. If it doesn't clear up within a month or so, I would ask your doctor to run a full thyroid panel (not just TSH but T3 and T4 counts as well). I believe this is one of the symptoms, especially the swelling around the eyes. I still have puffy eyes in the A.M. but I have low T3 counts.
  20. Thanks for keeping us posted. I keep checking back to see how you are doing. We're all thinking about you!
  21. Thanks for taking the time to recap your experience after a year's time. Very thoughtful for others.
  22. Yes, about two months ago, I got really gassy for a few weeks and realized my new "gluten free" digestive enzymes had something called malt diatese or something and that was my culprit. Stopped taking it and no more problems. I personally wouldn't take anything made from wheat (wheat grass, etc) that is supposedly gluten free...I just don't want the stuff...
  23. Just a FYI, Align contains Milk protein. I use Pearls...they don't contain milk products or other additives. Probiotic strain: Bifantis (Bifidobacterium infantis 35624), 1 x 109 colony-forming units (1 billion) (4 mg), microcrystalline cellulose (for even dispersal of cultures), hypromellose (vegetarian capsule shell), sugar, magnesium stearate (for even...
  24. ONLY AS A LAST RESORT!!! It has not helped my sister or mom, and has only made their digestion and nausea worse. PLEASE try good QUALITY probiotic and enzymes first...my guess is that since you were on strong antibiotics for so long your digestive track is out of whack...and you probably have little to no good bacteria left. Also, gastritis (the inflammation...
  25. A hiatal hernia was discovered in me as well, and I can definitely say I have the bruised feeling at times as well. As a side note, I was also tested for hpylori and it came back negative...however, it was recently found in a stool test, so I don't trust the biospy tests much in that sense.
