  1. I don't remember much.. But here's how my sister and I learned the truth about santa. We woke up in the middle of x-mas eve night... Santa was here! We saw a costume clad man walking around our living room (we were 3 and 4 at the time). Sneaking across the hall, we quietly woke my mom who told us to stay in her room (which we didn't). Mom held santa at...
  2. Well that IS interesting. at least I'm not alone! Ha ha! I try to avoid stress, I avoid gluten like the plague! I'm starting to volunteer for the willamette humane society (I get to play with dogs for my excercise, yay!), and my husband rubs my sorest muscles/joints daily. Other than that, anything else helpful?? Thank you tons and tons!!
  3. This probably isn't the right spot for this, but someone will move it I assume.... A few of my previous docs brought up fibromyalgia (sp??) as a possibility for my severe achieness and joint pain. I have good and bad days. Anyway just out of curiousity I googled it today. It sounds eerily familiar. I was just wondering if anyone else has it, is it related...
  4. My husband voluntered to go gluten-free with me (it's just the two of us). The origional agreement was that he could eat whatever he wanted with friends and at work, but home was to be gluten-free. After just a few days gluten-free HE started feeling better! More energetic and some mild GI symptoms he'd had his whole life cleared up! We're gluten-free...
  5. I never ate much fast food but I'd been missing it lately. My husband saved his money and bought me "supersize me" the movie. How sweet!! The point is, I hadn't eaten it all day when I started the movie. I was starving. I had a salad. Sans dressing. And a banana. So whenever you start missing fast food, or anything like that...... Rent supersize...
  6. I just wanted to send you hugs. I never knew my dad (he left my mom while she was preg. W me for her best friend) and chose never to really have contact with my sister or I. I know what it's like to have a jerk for a dad. Hugs hugs hugs and all my sympathy!! I would have left the mixer there and explained that I didn't want to GET ILL!! But...
  7. OMG congrats!! Yay!
  8. Sorry u had a bad day. *hugs*! Sorry u had a bad day. *hugs*!
  9. Just wanted to say, my hubby had a very few quite minor symptoms. Occasional cramping, am trips to the bathroom that could kill (tmi sorry) but nothing warranting a Dr visit (in fact he hadn't seen a doc for years until we met and I forced him to start yearly physicals). He went gluten free with me and within days had more energy, just felt better. Many...
  10. Love u all!! Happy thanksgiving!! *hugs n kisses*
  11. I was given pills to "fix" the problem for so long..... I don't think I could.... U know what I'd RATHER see??? More gluten-free restraunts or at least restraunts with gluten-free menu selections (and a semi educated staff on cc) like outback or something. Sounds like everyone who wants a pill wants it to go out to eat, that wouldn't be an issue...
  12. Ok well I've always been emoootional (DX'd major depression, bipolar, borderline personality disorder). When I was 16 I started feeling reeeeally tired. I cut school so I could sleep, I ended up graduating early and moving in with my girl friend at the time. I was too tired to do anything. I started having HORRIBLE acid reflux. I would puke bile. Was...
  13. I don't have kids, but I wanted to say... I WISH my mom could have homeschooled me!! School didn't teach me anything academically, I could read well (college level in middle school), so I was usually stuck in the corner reading cause nobody knew what to do with me. Socially, it wrecked me. I was not taught to make friends. I was taught to fear people...
  14. I did an internet search for celiac support groups. This one looked cool and loaded on my sidekick (I don't have a computer) easily. Thank you google! Lol!
  15. I'm so sorry ur fam is bein rude. My mom didn't believe me, I moved out at 17, lived in my car, did whatever I had to do. Finally she came around. I just decided that I wasn't gonna talk to anyone who doesn't believe me. She came around. Ryan (my hubby) recently cut contact with his mother. She, honestly, was manipulative and hurtful. Celiac notwithstanding...
  16. Ok so I called "authentic specialty foods, inc" the company that makes la victoria and embassa products, inquiring about the "modified food starch" on their ing. List. Not only did they assure me that all their stuff if gluten-free, they sent me a letter and a coupon! Their letter says that their vinegar and food starch are both corn based, three producks...
  17. Congrats on feeling better!! My tummy problems also went away within a week. I am still struggling with tiredness (it's been 2ish months), but it's much better than it was. YAY!
  18. I first started having symptoms when I was 16. By the time I was 17 I had quit my job, stopped riding horses, and then I quit school. I was just too tired. I went to the "alternative" school for literally 1 week, finished my credits and left. I was just too sick. My mom didn't believe me, I moved out, lived in my car, couch hopped, got sicker and sicker...
  19. My husband drinks apple cider vinegar every day. At first he said it was gross, but now it doesn't bother him at all. I've never heard of it helping for heartburn, I think I'll have to try it when I get heartburn. Yay! Thank ya'll for posting!
  20. Hey, I'm on antibiotics right now! Like 5ish days left (it upsets me too much to count!). I'm taking cipro it upsets my tummy, but isn't horrible. I'm allergic to antinausea meds (I find that ironic). I haven't found any antibiotics that don't. I haaate antibiotics. Oh well sometimes u do what u have to! I'm sorry I'm not of much help, but I just wanted...
  21. Hello and welcome! I'm not a parent, but I'm 22 and I'm goin with the gluten-free diet. I have been horribly ill for 6 years.... My bloodwork came back "borderline positive". My advice is, try the diet! Screw the biopsy! I didn't get the biopsy, the diet has worked miracles for me, try it! You've got nothing to lose! Oh ya, ask any question, no question...
  22. Just had to throw my 2 cents in here.... I LOOOOVE pitbulls!! Why on earth would u not want one? IF you raise it w love and make sure it knows it's sit/stay/don't jump on her, ur dog will grow up to be lovely, regardless of breeding. But I love pit bulls cause they are by nature sweet, protective of the house hold, and goooofey! My mom and sis have...
  23. *hugs!*! I understand how u feel. Fortunately my fam rox. It's always been mom, sis, and I (and as of nearly 4 yrs ago my neice katelynn). I'm married now but I live only like 20 min away and we call constantly! I was really scared when I told them of my special diet. Would I eat there again? What would I eat on trail rides? Luckily my fam has been...
  24. Omg I just opened the nov issue of "self" magazine... There's a brief mention of celiac disease! There's a little chart thing for how to host/plan for someone on a special diet. There is lactose intolerant, vegan, and "celiac disease sufferer". I'm not craaaazy abt the wording, but it does say what it does, "hidden holiday hazards", and "she'll be thankful...
  25. Yay! Are u gonna make a gluten-free cake to celebrate? Congrats to you!!
