  1. Onion rings, corn dog, icecream cone, good piece of pie and german chocolate cake.
  2. Shaws , Star Market, almost any of the larger grocery stores have a pretty good selection of gluten-free foods. Trader Joes also has some gluten-free items.
  3. I think I'll have to try that! Just the other day I was thinking about a Navajo taco, from the olden days before Celiac. Hope it works for everyone.
  4. Nut thins are a really good cracker and come in different flavors. parmesian cheese shredded and put on a sil pat or parchmet paper, in little flat rounds and baked for about 12 minutes. Rice crackers are good and come in many flavors.
  5. Ive been on Royal Carribian and Norwegian , both very accomodating. Going to Alaska on Holland America in July, they asked for a faxed list of things I'd like to eat from a list. I hope it goes as well as the other ones. It seems to me that once they know you are gluten-free they take pretty good care of you. What a life.....
  6. I went online to Olive Garden and it seems to be nationwide. They were aware of gluten free and made a very little menu of gluten-free offerings. My family likes to eat there but I've just avoided it , my friend wanted to go so I checked it out. I mentioned the gluten free to the host people, and everyone was very helpful. Enjoy.
  7. I haven't eaten at an Olive Garden in over 2 years , I was meeting a friend for lunch and she suggested the place to meet. I went on line, just to see if there was anything I could eat there. When I arrived at the restaurant i inquired if they had a gluten-free menu, they said they would get me a list of what I could safely eat. (Very Nice) I had a salad...
  8. When I was diagnosed in 2005 I went out and bought every gluten free thing I could find. So far the most important purchases have been corn starch, potato starch rice flour and xanthum gum. I have a kitchen aid mixer, pre diagnosis, that works great on mixing everything. Because there is no gluten the length of mixing time doesn't make as big a difference...
  9. My tongue is sore most of the time and my taste buds seem to flair up most of the time. I also have dry mouth. I have no clue as to what causes any of it . I figure just another fun day.
  10. When I was sick, before diagnosis, I lost 60 pounds ....wow what a feeling. Well, now that I've been gluten-free for 2 years I have gained all that back and more, I exercised and ate right and it just kept coming back. Now I'll lose a little eat one thing wrong and gain more. I 'm tring to give up carbs , I don't know what else to do. God luck to you...
  11. I've never had a problem with Amy's , I like the frozen pizza with all kinds of my own stuff on it. I've had a few of the other frozen things too, a nice warm quick meal. This is when a quick gluten test would come in handy.
  12. I don't have any drug related issue with my weight gain. I just keep adding to my body , I stopped making my gluten-free goodies, just ate meat cheese, and veggies. lost 6 pounds and then it just came back. I am just one large pound attractor. I just keep plugging away. Good luck
  13. I have the Kitchen Aide Artisan, I cannot imagine cooking now without it. Most bread or muffiny things get lighter and moister with the egg whites whipped, and folded in, or just throwing everything in and getting it mixed up well. I think I've lost the dough hook but everything else is great. My daughter bought it before diagnosis because I liked to make...
  14. Yes, after 54 years of happily eating gluten I became very ill with a kidney stone and other "female" problems...4 days in intensive care 6 pints of blood later and 60 pound weight loss.....I have Celiac . After learning about the disease you think back to things that probably are linked. Asthma, sinus headaches, just general stuff like that. Unfortunately...
  15. "Watergate Salad" is really easy and popular....1pkg jello pistachio pudding mix , cool whip, crushed pineapple (1 can) miniature marshmallows, and some walnuts.... tastes good . Pre celiac disease food.
  16. decadent chocolate cake mix by gluten free pantry is very good, my son the gluten lover will eat this cake, and likes it. That is the true testament to what is edible in the gluten free world.
  17. My introduction was when I got really sick with kidney stones, was in intensive care for 4 days, had 4 pints of blood got color for the first time in months, then started losing weight, eating normal stuff. I had always had diarrea , doctors had said nothing to worry about. Lost more weight, not like me , lost energy lost muscle. my joints ached all over...
  18. I think most of the general cereals have malt in them. In the health food section there are some good gluten-free cereals.
  19. Going out to a party and not seeing anyting to eat. Going to a dinner party ,where they know you are gluten-free , and having nothing to eat. Seeing all kinds of good things to eat that are not gluten-free. Buying the gluten-free stuff that tastes like crap. Not having regular pizza. Not having to read everylast thing I put in my mouth. OOOO like the biggest...
  20. Having practiced enough gluten-free cooking that my family actually enjoys it!
  21. Hi , I have found that bringing your own meal is the best bet, no one seems to mind and are relieved that they don't have to worry about changing their way of cooking. My mother in law is the exception, she has changed to flouring her pork roasts with rice flour and using corn starch for gravey. She is a gem. Parties etc. are a different story, several...
  22. Check out the flourless chocolate cake on RC. It is really good. As a general rule I avoid Buffets because it is hard to determine exactly what is in everything, where as in the dining room, usually they recognize you and will help with your selections.
  23. Try baking some of your old favorites, The Gluten Free Kitchen is a great book with great biscuits, corn bread and cinnamon rolls. When you have something that you like at home to eat sometimes helps. There is a frozen bread that I like a lot Enjoy Life Ryeless Rye, and sandwich bread. Everyone here eats gluten free when I'm home. If I'm at work they...
  24. I've had the best results using the gluten free kitchen method...mostly corn starch and potato starch with xthan gum. Sometimes I mess around with it adding different kinds of flour to substiute for a little of the corn starch or potato starch flour, like rice or something with a little texture. It works for me. Good luck, oh, by the way my son , who is...
