  1. We just tried it tonight. Makes a good, but expensive meal. The sauce is very creamy and about as much like cheese as you can get without actually having cheese. Will buy it again, but more next time. One box wasn't enough for daughter. I think she could have easily eaten two. She's a big eater! I did serve it with turkey sausage which I didn't try...
  2. I have had similar things happen. First, I would have probably asked if the salad came in a flour tortilla shell. This seems to be very common at Mexican restaurants. Or if the salad you had was not on the menu, I would have said, "I want a salad with thus and such and only those things!' Now this doesn't always work either. My mom is on a special diet...
  3. I used it in a raw recipe for Tootsie Rolls. It worked well.
  4. You couldn't pay me to eat at McDonalds. First they said the fries were vegetarian when in fact there is or was beef in there. Then they didn't disclose not only the wheat but the milk. What else will they not tell us?
  5. Today I am making clean out the refrigerator soup. It's different every time. I started with about a pound of cooked ground beef. Added several ribs of sliced celery, a chopped white onion, three single serve packs of baby carrots chopped, about a pound of fingerling potatoes, diced and 5 cans of V8. Two were the larger cans and three were the small cans...
  6. Here in WA we have it at Central Market. I bought a box of the Cod as it was the cheapest. When I asked my daughter what she wanted with it, she replied that she wanted chips. Said with a British accent of course. I wasn't sure how well this meal would go over. Husband was out of town and I don't eat fish. Even though it said a box was 3.5 servings...
  7. I have read (but can't remember where) that Hain is not the best source as far as cross contamination goes. I don't have any flax seeds at the moment. I normally buy them at my health food store and can't remember the brand. I do have ground flax from Costco and have had no problems with it.
  8. We eat Mexican a lot. Chips can be a concern if they are fried along with wheat tortillas for a taco salad, or other wheat containing items. Sauces can contain wheat. Daughter often just gets beans, rice and corn tortillas.
  9. I just realized that the cookies I bought were sugar. Not snickerdoodles.
  10. Hmmm... I am surprised he didn't think you had psoriatic arthritis. It's the diagnosis given to me by the rheumatologist I saw. I don't believe he was any good. Although he put that down on paper, he told me I had fibromyalgia and kept wanting to treat me with antidepressants. They only left me feeling sick and awful. How is your thyroid? When mine...
  11. Sometimes I have polenta. I buy that shelf stable kind in tubes. Slice it, top it with some tomato sauce straight from the can, sprinkle of Italian seasoning and nuke it. Handful of pumpkin seeds for protein. If I have the time I might make grits with some coconut oil. Or some gluten-free oatmeal with chopped apples.
  12. I used Enjoy Life chocolate chips to make molded chocolates. Also made Applets, and fudge, substituting rice milk and coconut oil for the milk and butter. Hard or jelly type candies would be other options.
  13. I just received my order. The food shipped right away. Here's the link: Open Original Shared Link I got the chocolate cupcakes, mini vanilla cupcakes, mini brownies, corn muffins, blueberry muffins and Snickerdoodles. Upon opening the box, I was whapped in the face with the overwhelming scent of vanilla. It was very strong! I also noticed that...
  14. I haven't seen any gluten-free granola bars but have seen some granola. Didn't try it because I don't much like granola. I do like the pumpkin seed bars by Go Raw. They are substantial and can work as a meal. I've tried their other bars but they were too fruity for my tastes. I am not a fruit lover. I would suggest making some trail mix with nuts...
  15. P.F. Chang's has a gluten free menu and you can buy gluten free soy sauce. Don't know about the wings. I did buy some BBQ sauce that was gluten free, but daughter didn't like the chicken I made with it. Neither did husband.
  16. My lunch most of the time is a box of Ian's gluten-free chicken nuggets and some cut up raw vegetables. Sometimes I have some canned refried beans heated and used as a dip or put in tortillas for tacos. Also with raw veg. I also love big salads and would eat those more often, but I have gastroparesis so I don't digest them well. I used to make taco salads...
  17. I buy Bob's Red Mill rice flour. For the bread, my daughter likes it put in the microwave until it's hot to the touch. Or toasted, if she wants toast.
  18. Our Walmart has no grocery section, so I don't know what all they sell. I did get some Uncle Ben's precooked chicken flavored rice there. Alas I discovered when I got home that it was made in China. I don't normally eat stuff made there. But I was sick pneumonia and wasn't in the mood to care. I also got a can of chicken and chicken broth from the food...
  19. I found this at Central Market and bought the Cod. Daughter loves it. Made with some Alexia frozen fries. Only problem is, I didn't make enough for her. I cooked 4 pieces. That's more than a serving, but the kid can eat! Must get more of this soon. ETA: That should read "breaded fish" and not "battered'. Sorry.
  20. I tried the raw vegan diet after learning of my food allergies. I was vegetarian, but found out I was allergic to eggs and dairy. Although I liked the raw vegan diet, I have gastroparesis and after eating a large salad at my parent's house one day, became far too familar with a bucket as the salad kept coming back up, over and over again. I also discovered...
  21. No Whole Foods here but we do have Safeway brand that appears to be the same. We eat those.
  22. Kids can be very picky at 2. I can remember cooking dinner for Angela and her friends. One meal that they all liked was macaroni and cheese, breakfast sausages, black olives, baby carrots and sliced apples. Actually at that age, most any raw veggies and fruit cut into slices or sticks or bite sized pieces worked pretty well. Angela would never touch tomatoes...
  23. I don't know how much food you can get for $8 there. Here, it wouldn't be much. Two things come to mind. Bean corn chili. Take three cans of beans (different kinds), one can of corn and a jar of salsa. Heat through and serve over rice. Makes a big pot and will last for days. Peasant omelet. Dice a potato or two and chop an onion. Fry until...
  24. They make some that my daughter prefers but they're not on that list. Of those listed, she does like the tapioca. To serve it, she likes it put in the microwave until it is very hot to the touch. Makes it much softer.
