  1. Mine will be watching hockey if he can find one anywhere on the TV universe.
  2. This wouldn't work for my dog. I train all my dogs from very young puppy to love the vacuum. It's a wonderful thing at shedding time But you are right, it would work great on most cats I know, and no harm done. Good Idea!
  3. Report back and let us know how you make out I'm sure you will love them.
  4. Actually ... if you really want fruit cake ... Kinnikinnick makes a really wonderful one! Check it out, you will be surprised
  5. You can certainly mix it with a dry cereal, or even a hot cereal to add vitamins and minerals and best of all, flavour, but I expect it would be far too expensive to use as a cereal, and it wouldn't stick together as hot cereal does. I use them in date nut balls as well Use a regular date square recipe, but instead of putting it in layers, mix it all...
  6. Thanks for the up-date on this! We can't get pillsbury here.
  7. My favourite is 'thin sliced almonds' you can buy them in any grocery store. Crush them in the bag before you open them, then substitute for oatmeal. It's the same texture, and non Celiacs say they taste even better. Also a good source of iron! Good luck with that!

That happened to me too. I just refreshed and it finally changed properly. It does look weird when it happens though
  9. Oh ... I forgot. Our human babies have their own nurserys and bedrooms once they are old enough. Does he consider this cruel?
  10. He is being unreasonable in my opinion. As much as I love my Sheba, if she was jepardizing (sp) my health, or my hubby's she would soon be sleeping outside the bedroom. With her cozy bed and water of course. I think I would just wake up hubby everytime the cat wakes you, he can deal with it. Maybe that's the only way he will understand.
  11. Congratulations Angie! What a great gift!! Hubby and I will be staying home for a quiet night. I'll probably take him out to dinner on the 2nd. for his birthday. I'll likely pop on and join you all
  12. Yes, I'm the same, my stomach ties in a knot just at the thought of cheating. Certainly not worth it. But I have a friend who is a surgical nurse and she has seen the damage done to a Celiac that cheats too often. Even if you don't have symptoms, the damage is being done. The advice of bringing something that you enjoy that is gluten free is a good one!
  13. Carla, you need at least one ugly shirt a year But yes, the best thing is to just pass it on and let them know you appreaciate the thought. We have to remember that even though our lives center around what we can and can't eat, most people have busy lives with their own problems and can't always remember what they are looking for on the ingredients list...
  14. I've copied some of this thread and pasted it into an email so I can print it off for my doctor, who is always interested in leaning more about it. Thanks for starting this thread!!!!!!!!!
  15. Well, you will have to let me know how much 'cheap rent' would be. I know Alberta is pretty expensive right now. We here in the Kootenay's are still reasonably priced. I really haven't looked at the rents though, as we have our little bit of paradise in the Slocan valley. You could buy out here for under $200,000 if you are not looking for anything huge....
  16. I haven't seen one with orange juice, but the Kinnikinnick brand uses Club Soda. I made pancakes from that mix when my parents were visiting and of course I served everyone before I sat down. My Dad couldn't tell the difference and gave my H--- for breaking my diet. I had to show him the package They are yummy and I make them all the time now. They also...
  17. pinktulip, how did your Dad like the chocolate covered marshmellows?
  18. Okay, I think I answered this on another post. I use Kinnikinnick products, they are excellent and usually easy to find. But the biggest thing to remember about gluten free baking, especially breads, buns etc. You have to heat it to get good texture. Either heat it in a micro, or the best way is to toast it in a clean, gluten free toaster. So...
  19. Sure hope that helps solve your problem. Kinnikinnick also sells excellent English muffins and donnuts among many other things. Again, to get the nice texture you have to heat most gluten free things or it falls apart.
  20. I use Kinnikinnick sandwich bread. A lot of big grocery stores in Canada are selling it now. Or you can buy it on line at the Kinnikinnick website. It's both good in taste and texture ....However ... you must heat any gluten free bread or buns before the texture is good. If I'm having a sandwich I put it in the micro for about 23 seconds, depending on how...
  21. And here I was, picturing Santa playing golf in Florida We don't exchange gifts either, but this year we got a couple new ornaments (2 LED Deer) for our yard display as our Christmas present. It's fun. Also a couple dear friends came for dinner and to spend the day, that's the best
  22. Sounds awesome! Good for you, I'll have to check into that flour.
  23. I've rolled them into balls and then rolled them in sugar and flattened with my hand. Makes them nice and sparkly for the holiday.
  24. How cool is that! Thanks Amy
  25. Yes, gaining weight will make you feel a lot better. Having said that, keep in mind that everyone is different on this. It took me years to get to a healthy weight after going gluten free. Part of the problem was, one, living in a house that is not entirely gluten free, and then getting contaminated frequently ... two and this is a big one! Stress. When...
